Chapter 1: WAHHHH WHO'S THE THIEF

Chapter Text

Today was yet another average day of Kagamine Len opening the fridge to his banana pudding being stolen again. This had been going on for at least a week now, and he was getting fed up.

“Rin!” Len called out, frowning as he shut the fridge door.

His twin sister’s head popped out from the doorway, with a scoff she stepped forward and crossed her arms. “Whatcha want?” she asked, sighing in an irritated manner. Rin wasn’t even sure why she actually came over to him, but it was a little late to turn back now.

“Did you seriously take MY pudding again?” he asked, tapping his foot impatiently against the floor. Len didn’t have much of a valid reason to accuse Rin, but who else would it be?

She simply stared at him as if he was an absolute idiot, I mean… with that hairstyle, he may as well just be one. “No. No, Len.” Rin spoke, shaking her head in slight disappointment. “I don’t like banana flavored things, and I especially hate pudding. You cannot be serious…” she muttered, unsure on why she was even putting up with Len’s bullshit.

Len scratched his neck, the look he got from Rin made him feel a bit embarrassed. Had he genuinely forgotten something as obvious as that? But if it wasn’t Rin, then MEIKO?.. No, she doesn’t even eat things other than medium red steaks with a glass of wine. What would she be doing with his pudding, feeding Luka or something? Nah, he knows MEIKO would always treat her girlfriend with the fanciest shit ever.

“Sorry.” Len mumbled, waving a dismissive hand toward Rin. He could always just eat some plain yoghurt instead.

-----

Later during the day, when MEIKO got back from work, or better said from wasting time in her office with Luka. Len took this as his chance to ask about his little snack stealing mystery. He ran out from his room to the front door, waiting for MEIKO as she took off her work heels.

“Yes, Len?..” she asked after a short while of him just standing there patiently. He wanted something, that much was obvious.

He took a deep breath, then began his rant, forgetting about anything else in the world as he spoke. “Okay, so listen up ma’. Someone keeps stealing my banana pudding! I opened the fridge on Wednesday to get some, but there was none so I went out and bought two. Thursday too, except I didn’t find my second one. Same for Friday… all my money down the drain and still not enough banana pudding in my stomach! Now, today. Have a good guess… no pudding. I asked Rin too, but it’s not her. Clearly not you either- “

MEIKO had to put a hand over his mouth to get him to shut up for a moment, her brain frying from the amount of yap coming from one stupidly banana-obsessed teenager. “Couldn’t even greet me properly first…”.

She let out a deep sigh and took a moment to remember what the topic even was. “Honey, your boyfriend has been coming over, I told him you wouldn’t mind sharing your pudding.” She responded softly, resting her hand on Len’s shoulder as she leaned down to look at him.

Time paused for a moment in Len’s brain. He was… confused, to say the least. “Eh? Boyfriend?” His face flushed subtly as his mother’s words sunk into his head, clearly more focused on the boyfriend part now rather than his precious pudding. Since when the hell did he have a boyfriend?

“What was his name… Fukase? You know, the sweet little redhead.” She added on, and Len finally recognized who she meant, but… “FUKASE?!” Len’s eyes widened, and his blush increased tenfold. His thoughts were running like crazy; he seriously hadn’t expected that. “W-wait, wait. Why has Fukase been coming over?” The confusion was obvious in his expression, and honestly, it was valid.

“Well, at first, he came over to hang out with you. You were outside at the time though, so I just gave him a little treat before he left. Then he came back again, so I just assumed you got yourself a clingy boyfriend. Hey, don’t be embarrassed about it though.” MEIKO explained.

It was quite an odd situation honestly. Fukase came for Len but ended up taking a liking in the sweetness and care of MEIKO’s parental skills, he didn’t grow up with much positive from what Len knew, so it was somewhat understandable then.

“Oh, okay… but h-he’s still not my boyfriend...” Len mumbled, looking away as he picked at the hem of his shirt. He could excuse the nonconsensual sharing of his banana pudding, but the dating part? “We’re just friends, he doesn’t like me like that.” He sounded somewhat disappointed at that, to his surprise.

“He sure sounded in love when he spoke about you…” MEIKO mumbled, only flustering Len more as he began malfunctioning. He stuttered and looked around, unable to find words. ‘In love’?! And why was Fukase even talking about him to MEIKO?

MEIKO, realizing the damage she caused to the poor boy, quickly left the scene. She headed for the bathroom; to freshen up after her long day of work, and to avoid interrogations from Len.

Len was now left to himself, having to process this information. He had so many thoughts, questions, and… anticipation for the upcoming Monday. He’d get to see his best friend, Fukase, at school again. Maybe become more, just maybe though. Len would be lying to himself if he said he’d never looked at the redhead in a different light, but feelings were difficult. MEIKO could’ve just said that to tease him, why would Fukase even like him anyway?
