CREATOR'S NOTE: Y'all, I wrote this a few months ago, and re-reading it now, I can't help but feel my old writing absolutely sucks- I've half heartedly gone over to try and correct some of the worst mistakes, but I'm sure there's still a bunch left. This'll be your genuine warning that this fic *will* contain a good amount of bad writing, seeing as I really am too lazy to rewrite the whole thing at the moment (sorry abt that)
Tsuyu could feel her body tiring, as she was making an effort running through the heavy woods, pushing away a good amount of branches and underbrush that got in her way
It was cold, too cold.
Unless she found her way back to her group sometime soon, she’d risk falling unconscious in the middle of the forest, far away from her friends
—And who knows how long it would take for the weather to get warm enough for her body to wake up again? They were in the middle of attumn after all.
She quickly decided that this was a risk she couldn’t afford to take. These woods were already far too dangerous to wander alone, nevertheless for a student
Tsuyu immediately came to a halt, as the sound of twigs breaking in the distance behind her abruptly pulled her out of her train of thoughts—
Immediately, she bolts around, scanning her surroundings throughly, yet she could see nothing too much out of the ordinary
Squinting her eyes, she tried to making out the shapes from the shadows in-between the trees
the atmosphere seemed to be getting darker now too, making it even harder to see
Great, juuuuust great.
After a few moments of staring into nothingness, she slowly turned around again, trying to convince herself that it had probably just been some harmless animal—
However, she would come to be disproven a moment later, as she could hear a faint giggle just a few meters behind
That was definitely not just any ‘harmless’ animal.
Tsuyu whipped around, yet again
Yet, she’d turn out to be just a second too late; for just a moment later she’d feel a sharp jab in her shoulder, followed by a burning pain
“Ribbit!” she yelped, as she was pushed down onto the ground forcefully
Tsuyu was about to get back up on her feet, as she felt something heavy pressing down on her torso, effectively pinning her down
She opened her eyes —Which she never even realized that she’d shut in the first place— and quickly realized who it was
Toga was sittting right on top of her, looking down with a wide smile on her face, Tsuyu could see her sharp fangs glinting slightly in whatever light was left
“Oohohoo?~” - She exclaims happily as they finally locked eyes
“I never thought I’d be running into you like this, can’t say I’m complaining, though!” -Toga hums
“Git off of me!” – Tsuyu spits as she tries squirming underneath
“Awwh! But where’s the fun in that? We've just reunited, after all this time, and all!” – Toga complains half-heartedly, whilst pouting mockingly at her
“You could at least let me have some of your blood first!” – She chuckles a moment later, as she leans down, her face just mere inches from Tsuyu’s
There was a not-so vague hint of hunger in her eyes
Tsuyu grabs the opportunity and licks her in the face, a weird, yet effective move.
“Gah!” – Toga immediately throws herself backwards, wiping her eyes with the hem of her shirt.
Not wasting a single second, Tsuyu pushes her off of herself, before pulling the needle out of her neck, throwing it away on the ground beside them
Then, she immediately got up to make a run for it, ignoring the drops of blood continuesly running down her collarbone
“Hey! Where do ‘ya think you’re going?!” – Toga shouted behind her, as she followed suit
“I’m not done with you yet!” Toga growled as she threw herself onto her Tsuyu’s back, making her loose balance,
—before tripping over, falling forward, and crashing face-first onto the ground
Tsuyu made a hopeless attempt at crawling away, to no avail
She could feel her body not-so-slowly giving out on her
Shit.
“Hehe~ Caught you!” – Toga snickered above, forcefully pinning Tsuyu's hands down on the muddy earth beneath
Tsuyu’s so tired, she doesn’t have the energy to move her body anymore, all she can do is lay there helplessly beneath Toga's grasp
“Heya, why aren’t you answering? You shouldn’t be giving up so soon, that’s no fun!” – Toga complained
“Hm? Did you seriously just fall asleep?” – She questioned a moment later, tilting her head to the side, before procceding to shake Tsuyu's shoulder lightly
Having leaned down yet again to inspect her face, Toga gently pokes her cheek, it felt almost affectionally
Tsuyu can’t but respond with a single grunt, making Toga giggle for a moment before pulling her face away from hers
“I suppose I can’t just leave you here… If you get eaten by wolves, we won’t get to play any more later, and that would be a real shame ..” – Toga mumbles to herself, clearly considering her options
Tsuyu really wasn't listening to what she’s saying anymore, as she was already focusing far too much on just solely staying awake, feeling herself more often than not slipping in and out of consciousness
All though, it turned out not to be a battle she could keep up for long, for just a few moments later her vision turned dark.
She must've woken up at some point, for she vaguely remembers Toga carrying her, seemingly on her back throughout the forest, mumbling something about birds
Tsuyu didn't have the energy to respond, nor did she really want to. Though, one question remained on her mind, where was Toga taking her?
She held onto that thought until she eventually drifted off, once more.
At last, —an unknown amount of time later, she finds herself resting on something soft, held close in a warm embrace, as something occasionally caresses the area around her neck, careful not to touch the wound
“…I mean, I get that your quirk is being a frog ‘n all that, but I still don’t see why you’ve gotta fall asleep every time it gets a little cold outside.” – Tsuyu could feel someone gently running their fingers through her hair as they were speaking
“Mmh” She tilts her head a little to the side, lazily,
—Subconsciously leaning closer to the source of the warmth.
“Oh, so you’re finally awake again?” Somebody says, Tsuyu knows she recognizes the voice from somewhere…
“Y’know, you’re actually pretty cute, when you’re not constantly fighting, and doing hero-stuff, and such all the time"
“….Toga?” – She opened her eyes ever so slightly, just to see Toga staring down at her, with her oh so very beautiful eyes
Toga’s expression seemed to be that of genuine affection, it caught her off guard for a moment
The blonde seemed to have noticed her surprise, for her expression softened ever so slightly before she turning her gaze away
“Don’t worry, I’m not gonna do anything to 'ya. I’ve got all the blood I need for now anyway!” – She smiles, twirling a few strands of Tsuyu's hair around her fingertips
Tsuyu Isn’t quite sure if that’s meant to be comforting or not, and eventually decides not to dwell on it for too long, as there are more pressing matters.
“W-what are you-” She starts before being cut off
“You looked like you we’re about to pass out, so I took you with me!” – Toga answers before she even gets to finish her sentence, tightening her embrace ever so slightly
Tsuyu turned her gaze away away, trying to figure out where they both were by taking in her surroundings
All she could see were trees, trees, and even more trees, amongst the occasional rock, or bush.
Somewhere above them, the moon shone bright. So it's night.. 'I've really been been gone for that long, huh? The others must be worried..' - Tsuyu thought to herself
Toga, who seems to have noticed her unease, gently pats her head before speaking;
“Don’t worry, it’s pretty much safe here, I’ve made sure of that."
"Just close your eyes and rest, and let me take care of you~” Toga’s soft humming, and the coziness of being cuddled up against her, made it hard to stay awake for much longer
They don't talk much more after that, and eventually Tsuyu could feel herself involuntarily falling back asleep
At some point, a soft kiss was pressed against her forehead, along with the wishes of sweet dreams.
That was the last she could recall, before drifting off completely
“Ughhh” Tsuyu groaned as she woke up, sunlight finding it’s way through the curtains of her dimly lit room
She took a moment to stretch out her limbs before sitting up in her bed, it takes a moment, but soon enough, memories start flooding in
‘What a weird dream-’
While it was a weird dream, allright, she couldn't deny the warm feeling bubbling up in her chest everytime she thought about it
A yawn escapes her lips before she can have any chance at stopping it, and she groggily shakes her head. Better get on with the day, don't wanna be late for class
She swung her legs off of the side of her bed, taking a moment to wipe the sleep out of her eyes, before moving her hand up to rub her neck, it felt weird.
Maybe she'd slept on it wrongly?
—Her hand stops immediately, lingering right above the unmistakable wound of a needle,
Maybe it hadn't been a dream, after all?
