Chapter Text
A knock on the door of San’s hotel room has his heart speeding up as he rushes over to unlock it, letting his boyfriend and fellow ATEEZ member Wooyoung in with a smile.
Without warning, Wooyoung flings his arms over San’s shoulders and lets his full weight hang off his body, earning an “oof” from the taller man and sending him stumbling a few steps backwards.
“I’m so tired, San-ah,” he mumbles into the side of San’s neck, “The moment I lay down I’m seriously gonna pass out.”
They just finished up the last night of their overseas tour—an exhausting but fun few hours spent dancing and singing with their fans. The energy levels were high, the members buzzing with the idea that it was their last concert performance for the next few months. It was enough for them to give one last push of effort and judging by the screams, it was all worth it. The electric tingle of the crowd’s enthusiasm lingered for the entire ride back to the hotel.
It was great! But after weeks of eating large portions of strangely greasy food and intolerably humid heat waves, they’re more than ready to go back home.
San chuckles, rubbing his back affectionately. “Why’d it take you so long to wash up, then? Mingi went over there to swap rooms ages ago,” he says, guiding them both into the beds he pushed together earlier. “I nearly thought you forgot about me.”
“I said I was tired!” Wooyoung whines from where he’s clung onto San like a koala. “Besides, you act like it’s easy to forget- there's a whole extra person in the room and every time I change pants I think of you.”
“Oh?” San smiles mischievously, pulling the covers over them, “You think of me when you change pants? Why’s that?”
His teasing earns him a weak kick to the shins and he laughs, pressing a kiss into the crown of his boyfriend’s head as the latter groans, “‘Cause I have ink embedded into my skin, idiot, and nothing else!”
Amicus ad aras. Matching tattoos that they had sneakily gotten at twenty-one without the company’s preclearance. They had gotten in trouble, sure, but there wasn't anything too dramatic that could be done about it. After all, the tattoos were permanent and they had a contract to keep. In the grand scheme of things, it wasn't really anything dire enough to constitute major consequences. Plus, it gave them new “WooSan” marketing material for the fans. At the end of the day, they got off easy with just a couple of angry lectures about being responsible and some weeks of teasing from the members.
“You ever wonder if the company would break us up? Like if they found out?” Wooyoung asks sleepily. “I know we told the rest of the guys, but it’s pretty miraculous we’ve still kept it under wraps like this otherwise, no?”
San hums, carding his fingers through Wooyoung’s hair. “Even if they broke us up officially, they’d never be able to keep us apart permanently. We’re soulmates. What are they gonna do about it?”
“Mmm… soulmates,” Wooyoung breathes out, snuggling into San’s side. “I like the sound of that. San-ah, do you think we’re soulmates in every universe?”
San thinks to himself for a moment. Soulmates in every universe? It sounds romantic, but he isn't sure. After all, how consistent can soulmates really be, across different universes? Doesn't it get complicated, having the different versions of the same soul existing?
“I’m not sure,” he says finally. “What do you think we're like, in other universes? Do we even both exist together in them?”
When he gets a light snore in response, he smiles fondly at his sleeping partner before reaching over to turn off the light.
He pulls Wooyoung close to his chest, tucking his head under his chin and falls asleep.
