Kanade awoke with a heavy head, and that's mostly because she overworked herself with composting. But she's usually greeted with her computer the moment she lifts her head, then continuing back to her work.
And she definitely doesn't remember getting herself to bed that time.
She sat up, trying to ease the headache coming right at her the moment she stood up. Grunting, she caressed her temple, an attempt to release some of the tension creeping up on her. She heard some rustling beside her that made her flinch, looking over her side where she heard the noise came from and-
Oh.
Right.
She's married.
To whom, you asked?
Well… it's complicated, after all, she married none other than Mafuyu's step-brother.
Rui Kamishiro.
She let out a sigh, smiling fondly at her partner's resting face. Now she knows who transferred her from her desk to the bed. She imagines Rui giggling when he found her completely passed out from her desk before carrying her to their shared bed. The woman can only let out a small laugh, kissing his forehead before turning her head to look at the time.

Now, Kanade can just go back to bed and cuddle with her partner, waiting for the morning to come and spending her day with her beloved.
But-
Her mind keeps wondering elsewhere. To someone. The one who she swore to save. The one who she worked music with alongside for 6 years.
Her lyricist.
Her ex-crush.
She can't help but look back at their bond before. Before everything went wrong.
All of the similarities they share, the passion they want to achieve together, times where they spent each day being with each other, be it outside or inside of Kanade's bedroom.
They were inseparable.
Not until that day at Phoenix Wonderland, where everything changed.
Before Kanade can recall back, she heard a rustle beside her. Turning to her side, her partner has his eyes half opened as he gazed at his wife.
“Hmm…? Kanade-kun, are you having trouble sleeping?” Rui mumbled in his sleepy voice, rubbing his eyes as he sat up and fixed Kanade's bed hair.
She leaned on his gentle touch, closing her eyes and letting out a small sigh. “No, it's nothing. I was just lost in thought.” She replied, caressing his cheek as she smiled sweetly.
Rui chuckled, he opened his arms wide, smiling sheepishly at his wife. “Well, how about we sleep for today and talk about it tomorrow? Whether it's about your music or not, I would love to listen for it.” He said. Kanade can only smile gently and bask in the embrace of her partner.
They cuddled together, Rui kissed her crown before mumbling goodnight to her. Kanade did the same as she hugged him back, burying her face to his chest. Before closing her eyes, she gave one final thought to Mafuyu.
Maybe in another universe, I never relinquished my affection that I deeply felt when I am around you.
