Trans in the Big City

Summary:

Sheep reflects on his past life, prior to his decision of moving to the Big City. (A one shot fic semi-based on my own experience.)

Work Text:

It may have been two days since Sheep left for the Big City, and his life had changed for the better. Sure, there may be some disadvantages that come with it, but he would be lying to himself if he thought moving there was a mistake.

He loved the Big City very much, especially since it gave him the one thing he wished for in a long time; being himself.

Sheep could never really fit in with his assigned gender. Almost everyday, his old pals at the farm would see him as a girl who enjoyed being feminine and stuck to the tradition of it. Sheep did like to wear dresses and makeup from time to time, but he felt like that wasn’t him. He initially didn’t know why; he just didn’t fit at all.

It didn’t help the fact that his so-called parents expected him to have a husband and have offspring in order to ‘continue the family tree’. Sheep was openly bi and didn’t entirely hate the idea of having lambs of his own, but didn’t want to go through the process of giving birth. He initially didn’t know why; it just felt weird to him.

The only person who ‘truly’ understood Sheep was Farmer John. He had always been there for him and listened to his troubles and worries. Despite that, Sheep felt worried and concerned about expressing his gender problems. He initially didn’t know why; he thought there was something wrong with him.

It turns out there was, but not in a bad way. When Sheep spilled the beans, Farmer John began to talk about a thing called “Gender Dysphoria.” He didn’t fully understand or listened to the concept, as he was a young sheep who just turned into an adult. Farmer John then suggested hanging out with rams to see how they live with their gender. Sheep then became curious by the idea. He initially didn’t know why; he was excited to see the life he wasn’t given.

Sheep stuck to his promise and went to a birthday party that one of the rams was having. He couldn’t help but feel connected and even natural to them, despite being the opposite gender. He initially didn’t know why, but that was when it hit him.

This was the life he wanted; this was the life he had been looking for this whole time, and Sheep couldn’t believe he had been ignoring it all along, but also couldn’t really blame himself for not knowing. “Gender Dysphoria” was a new thing to Sheep, and maybe others, and he was even surprised that it existed, let alone have it.

Now, Sheep was prepared to have a new future for his own life. It may involve being chased by a secret military organization, or cutting ties with the one man who he thought supported him; but he knew it was all worth it.

It wasn’t just all about being a sheep in the Big City; it was also being himself; a transmale.
