mornings & forever

Work Text:

It's seven o'clock in the morning when Fourth's phone shrills. Loud, annoying, and very disturbing, the sound bouncing off the walls. Fourth must've forgotten to change the mode to silent last night, Gemini thinks. He groans quietly and rolls over, only to find the other side of the bed empty but still warm. He cracks his eyes open, blinking, trying to get sleep and moonlight and stars and Fourth’s new red hair out of his eyes. Where is Fourth?

"Fourth?" He manages to say as he looks over his shoulder. The morning light comes into their room through the window and burns his retinas.

"Sorry, did my phone wake you up? I didn't mean to," Fourth answers sheepishly, fiddling with his phone and turning it off.

"Mmh, it's fine, what are you doing there?" He rolls over again and looks at Fourth who's sitting on the swing, reading a book, swaying back and forth a little. It was Fourth's crazy idea to put a swing in their room—he had stared blankly at Fourth when he said he wanted a swing, but Gemini remembered Fourth jutting his bottom lip out and making puppy eyes at him and that, obviously, made him lose his mind. Pouting and puppy eyes are his weaknesses, after all.

The next day, a swing was hanging proudly next to the bedroom window. It has a big body made of rattan, round, with a comfy pillow and cushion inside. A single chain helped the swing hang properly on the ceiling.

"The sun woke me up, and I couldn't get back to sleep, so I picked a book instead." Fourth flashes a smile, closing his new book. "Don't you want to go back to sleep?"

"I dunno, depends," Gemini answers lazily. "C'mere, I'm cold." He continues, beckoning Fourth with his index finger. He is cold because Fourth had stolen his shirt yesterday and went to sleep with that on, leaving him only in his sweatpants. Fourth chuckles and gets up, leaving his phone and book on the swing.

He watches as Fourth climbs into the bed, the springs squeaking under his featherweight. Gemini doesn’t gasp or look shocked at all when he can only see his shirt enveloping Fourth’s body, because he knows the younger boy’s boxers are hidden beneath his shirt. It isn’t an unusual sight for him at all, in fact, he welcomes it every morning.

Automatically, Gemini opens his arms widely, grinning from ear to ear. In a flash, he gets an armful of Fourth, his red hair sticking up to his neck and chin. He wraps his arms around the latter’s bony shoulder and kisses the crown of his head, the smell of strawberry wafting up his nose.

“You smell nice,” Fourth mumbles against his neck, lips chapped but moist. “I like your smell too,” He mumbles back, moving down so they’re at the same eye level. “Like dews, like strawberries, like mornings. And another smell. You smell like…. you. Uniquely you.”

“You’re so cheesy,” Fourth giggles, pecking his lips once, twice. “I don’t know why you’re my boyfriend.” Gemini moves closer, throwing a leg around Fourth’s torso, big doe eyes boring into the cat-like ones.

“Because you love me,” He retorts and moves even more closer until their noses are brushing, breathing each other in. Gemini kisses Fourth then, catching his bottom lip between his teeth and craning up his neck to kiss Fourth more passionately, languidly, cautiously, lovingly. His lips are soft and plush and—God, Gemini still can’t comprehend that this rosy-cheeked, gorgeous, amazing boy is his.

Fourth whispers i love you into the kiss and presses their bodies together, warm, long fingers trailing up his bare sides to his collarbones and finally his nape. Gemini lets Fourth’s hand stay there, lets Fourth tug him up, lets Fourth hear his ragged breath, lets Fourth’s fingertips dance on his back, and lets Fourth’s tongue slip past his lips.

Gemini whispers back—i love you too, i love you so much—into Fourth’s mouth and as retaliation, Fourth lets Gemini run his hand through his new hair, lets Gemini break the lip-lock and kiss his neck and shoulders instead, lets Gemini drapes the blanket over them so they stay below it, lets Gemini drags his calloused palm across his thighs, lets Gemini’s hand goes under the shirt and lets Gemini writes Gem’s on his chest.

Gemini knows he’s being a possessive, selfish partner right now, but he can’t help feeling like that when he pulls away and looks down at the sight of Fourth panting, lips red, eyes glassy and hair dishevelled. He lies back down beside Fourth, calming his breath. Fourth does the same, except he’s snuggling into him, and even though they’re a little bit sweaty, but it’s nice. He likes it.

“We need to take a bath,” The shorter of the two boys says, but he doesn’t make a move to get up. “Satang was the one who texted this morning, he told me he and Winny wanna have lunch with us.”

“Don’t wanna,” The taller one replies, tucking his head down to nuzzle Fourth’s cheek with his nose and subsequently tucks further down to plant butterfly kisses on his collarbones. Fourth shudders, laughing with no sound and wiggling uncomfortably. “Just wanna stay here with you and go back to sleep.”

“We—can’t!” Fourth retorts breathlessly. “Satang will kill me if we don’t show up.”

“Whatever, you can’t go anywhere, anyway.” He rolls his eyes and traps Fourth with his arms and legs, pulling him into a tight bear hug. “Go back to sleep, cuddlebug.” Gemini finishes, placing Fourth’s head on his neck and closes his eyes.

“Cuddlebug?” Fourth raises an eyebrow, tilting his head up to look Gemini in the eyes.

“A new nickname for you.” He answers, playing with Fourth’s soft hair. Gemini thinks it has become a new favourite thing of his ever since Fourth stepped into the small apartment with his red hair, a big grin plastered on his pale face. “Because you’re cuddly. And cute. Yeah, my cuddlebug. Or something like that.”

“My God, can you stop? Please? Ew,” Fourth makes a gagging sound and hits him on the chest not-so-lightly with the back of his palm.

“You’re so mean, I don’t love you anymore.” Gemini clicks his tongue and loosens his hug, turning over so he’s back-facing Fourth. “Goodbye.”

“Hey! I was just joking!”

“You didn’t sound like you were joking, though.” He says stubbornly, fighting back a smile.

“But I really—“ Gemini quickly cuts him off by pinning him down and making him squeak like a mouse being squeezed.

“You’re mine, right? All mine?” He murmurs right in front of Fourth’s lips, voice low and husky. Somehow Fourth can hear a mixed trace of worry, insecurity and (lots of) love in Gemini’s voice, then he wonders, when did Gemini start feeling like this?

“Of course I’m yours,” Fourth wraps his arms around his neck and gives him a kiss on the temple. “I’m all yours. I’ve always been yours, since years ago when we still played in the pond on your garden together.”

“Promise me forever?” Gemini asks bashfully, arms can no longer hold his weight so he lowers his body—carefully—afraid that Fourth will be squished under him.

“Forever,” Fourth says confidently, kissing the tip of his nose. “Forever, forever, forever,” He chants like the word forever is a mantra, a spell, a magic word. “We are forever,” Fourth tells him the last time before kissing him fully on the lips, eyes closed, and all Gemini can think of is Fourth, beautiful, Fourth, beautiful, Fourth, Fourth, forever.

("Gem?"

"Urgfh, what?"

"Lunch? With Satang and Winny?"

"Don't want, don't care—

"What—

"—tell'em to do dinner instead.)

Notes:

this is actually a fic i did back in 2011 for another fandom and i just remembered its existence like, 3 hours ago. it's a very short fic but i kind of like it so i decided to change the characters to my current obsessions: gemini & fourth. sorry for any typos or mistakes because english is not my first language but i hope you enjoyed it!
