Lucifer Decker's phone

Summary:

“Lucifer Decker's phone. The Detective and I have more pleasurable matters to take care of, so just leave your deepest desire at tone”.

Said Detective hanging on the other end of the line, waiting for her devil of a husband to pick up, was left utterly speechless.

Let's say that's the kind of stuff that happens when you decide to marry the devil himself, Lucifer Morningstar. Or Lucifer Decker. Or whatever was actually going on in her husband's mind.

Notes:

Sometimes, ideas are getting out of hand. This one is a great exemple.
Some Deckerstar Fluff and humor. Nothing else.

Could have been set somewhere at the beginning of season 6. No Rory. Ella isn't knowing the truth about Lucifer. No sad ending for our beloved couple.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Lucifer Decker's phone. The Detective and I have more pleasurable matters to take care of, so just leave your deepest desire at tone”.

Said Detective hanging on the other end of the line, waiting for her devil of a husband to pick up, was left utterly speechless.

There was a final beep, and since she wasn't going to regain her senses anytime soon, she registered the sound of the surrounding silence. After a few long seconds, she finally hung up, stunned.

Did he...?

Was he…?

What the…?

Really?

Without a second thought, she called back.

There was only a single tone before he picked up.

“Lucifer Decker.”

Chloe cleared her throat. "Hi, it's me," she replied, her confusion palpable in her voice.

“Detective,” he softly said, always using the very same affectionate nickname for his beloved. “Sorry, I hastily picked up and didn't see it was you. Is everything okay, love?”

Well, she wasn't really sure how she felt right now. One thing was for sure: she couldn't be worse than the corpse lying at her feet.

“We've got a new cas—”

“Say no more,” Lucifer cut her off.

A beat of silence.

And…

“Detective!”

There he was. Ever so divinely effective.

Lucifer walked up to her and leaned in to kiss her right on the lips with unveiled eagerness. His mouth lingered on hers just long enough— or not long enough, actually —for her to miss his warmth as soon as he pulled away.

His kisses always made her feel dizzy. She felt like she was free-falling straight from heaven, to his arms— long story short, sort of what happened. Truth to be told and once won’t hurt, for a short moment, she forgot everything around them. The stench of death, the sound of Ella’s shutter, and everything about the crime scene as well as their presence there was relayed to the back of her mind—very very far back.

Nevermind.

She had to focus back on the ongoing case, and…

“Lucifer Decker. I’m all ears.”

Her bubble of bliss suddenly burst. So did her eardrums. Thank you, Ella’s high-pitched squeal.

Lucifer frowned and stepped away from the crime scene to take the call while Ella couldn’t help but nudge Chloe right in the ribs with a lovesick smile stuck on her face.

“So… Mister Decker it is ?” Her friend pipped in, chuckling like a 4-year-old unwrapping presents on Christmas morning.

Chloe shrugged, no longer aware of Lucifer's new exuberance. "I don’t know what to say. I still have to deal with him about this."

She was used to Lucifer going over the top, but this was a whole new level.

They were married for two weeks; she should be the one using his name, shouldn’t she?

Chloe Morningstar.

Oh my God! Well, Oh… Uh… Arghh !

Damn it! Maybe this was a roundabout way of letting her know that he expected her to take his name from now on. It wouldn't be surprising. Indeed, Lucifer had always shied away from expressing what he really felt or wanted. She should’ve known better.

Luck eventually smiled on her when he came back next to her. Her own phone started to ring. Time to seize the moment.

“Morningstar,” she answered the call.

Lucifer raised a brow and gave her an odd stare. Meanwhile, Miss Lopez stifled a deep laugh.

Chloe glared at the latter. However, she did feel deeply awkward and helpless right now. She had to admit there was something to laugh about. The whole situation was actually pretty laughable.

The call didn't last long. Pity!

She could have used a little bit more time to collect herself back together in order to deal with…

"Uh... Morningstar?" Her devil of a husband inquired, his gaze lingering curiously on her.

…with this.

“Lucifer Decker?” She answered his question with another. It was sort of a useless defense mechanism kicking in without warning.

“You're my wife.” He shrugged. The answer seemed quite obvious to him.

Still, all that misinterpretation wasn't that clear for Chloe. “And you, you're my husband, Lucifer,” she pointed out, stating her unrelenting logic.

“Yes, I am. The luckiest husband in the universe, by the way,” He smiled, although it didn't equal his usual signature smirk. He looked even more confused.

“And so am I,” she cringe smiled.

Deaf talk.

"For God's sake, look at the two of you! I thought you'd be done with this whole shebang of prepubescent teenagers once you got married..."

Lucifer frowned. “I don't know what that means.”

Now he was quoting Bones. Great!

Chloe was so done.

“Lucifer,” she sighed as she pinched the bridge of her nose. “I think what Ella means is that we're not really on the same wavelength at the moment." She slowly insisted on every word.

“I thought we were. Even more so since our wedding night. You know, when you didn't ask but still did that thing that made m—”

She let out a strangled squeak, cutting him short before it undoubtedly got out of hand and went way off topic.

“That was not what we were talking about!”

“Well… I'm actually quite interested.” Miss Lopez stepped in with a grin that was anything but innocent.

“Ella!” Chloe hissed. “You're not helping there.”

“Fine. Let's get straight to the point then. Lucifer, Chloe’s the one who should take your name, not the other way around. It's been like that since the dawn of time. Big boss rulings,” she said, pointing a finger up to the sky.

"My father is a bloody machist,” Lucifer ranted, true to form. “Besides, I'm fully committed behind those beloved feminists.”

Chloe saw quite a graphic double meaning in his words and glared at him. He could only be fully committed behind her.

He soon voiced her thoughts, her vow completely respected. “Don't worry, darling. That way, it's only behind you that I like to stand at full attention,” He wiggled his eyebrows, his signature smirk perfectly in place.

Although she was very much pleased to hear that—and also a tad turned on, she couldn’t deny it—this conversation was getting completely out of hand.

That's when she came up with the right words to fit into this wild conversation. “And all this goes to say... I love your name behind mine, Lucifer Morningstar.”

Ever so smoothly done.

Lucifer’s eyes widened. Yet the stupor didn't linger for long on his face as the corner of his lips stretched into a heartfelt smile.

"Miss Chloe Morningstar, then." He leaned over her, and they ended up sharing the same breathing space.

Chloe looked up at him and smiled. “Miss Morningstar, that is,” she promptly acquiesced. She then rose on her tiptoes and filled the remaining gap, bringing her lips to meet his.

At least, they were now both on the same wavelength.
