Chapter 1
It was a Saturday night, and the atmosphere in the hidden alcove of Auradon Prep buzzed with excitement. Tucked away behind a series of towering hedges and ivy-covered walls, the secret party thrummed with life, its dim lighting and loud music spilling out into the surrounding gardens. Laughter and chatter filled the air, creating an intoxicating mix that drew Chloe Charming in despite her reservations.
As the daughter of Cinderella and Charming, Chloe was accustomed to the pressure of expectations. But tonight, all she wanted was to enjoy herself—even if she was a self-proclaimed nerd. Her heart raced a little faster at the thought of spending the evening without worrying about her fencing practice or her grades.
Chloe glanced around the makeshift venue, taking in the sights of her classmates dancing under twinkling fairy lights strung from the trees. Her gaze landed on a group gathered in a shadowy corner, where Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts, commanded attention effortlessly. Dressed in a figure-hugging dress adorned with card motifs and a black leather jacket, Red exuded a confidence that made Chloe both envious and irritated.
Their rivalry was well-known, a clash of personalities that had become almost a sport at Auradon Prep. Chloe’s studious nature often collided with Red’s free-spirited mischief, creating an electric tension whenever they were in the same room.
“Hey, Charming! Still trying to fit in?” Red called out, her voice dripping with playful mockery as she approached the punch bowl, surrounded by a small group of admirers.
Chloe rolled her eyes. “Better than trying to steal the spotlight every second, Red.”
“Aw, don’t be so uptight,” Red shot back with a smirk. “You might actually have fun if you loosen up a bit.”
“Yeah, because that’s what I want—more of your ‘fun,’” Chloe replied, crossing her arms defensively.

Just then, Bridget, Red’s cousin and Chloe’s roommate, burst into the clearing, her expression tight as she spotted Red. “Spin the bottle! Who’s in?” Bridget called out, her enthusiasm contrasting sharply with her disdain for Red.
Before Chloe could respond, Bridget dragged her into the circle formed by the other students. “Come on, Chloe! You’re joining us. It’ll be fun—even with Red, hopefully.”
“Hey! I heard that!” Red exclaimed, as she strutted over, her presence radiating confidence that made the crowd buzz with anticipation.
The game began, and laughter erupted each time the bottle landed on someone. Chloe watched as her classmates shared quick pecks and nervous giggles, her heart racing with a blend of excitement and anxiety. Finally, it was Chloe’s turn. She gave the bottle a firm spin, her hands trembling slightly as it twirled, reflecting the dim lights around them. The world faded to a blur, all her focus on the bottle’s movement.
It slowed, wobbling precariously before landing—pointing directly at Red.
The room erupted into cheers, the sound overwhelming. Chloe’s cheeks flushed, and she shot a glance at Red, who was grinning wickedly. “Looks like you’re my lucky charm tonight,” Red teased standing up and striding over.
“Lucky? Hardly,” Chloe muttered, feeling both nervous and exhilarated as they moved closer. The air was thick with anticipation, and Chloe couldn’t ignore the flutter of her heart.

Bridget rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. “Just get it over with,” she grumbled, her voice low enough that only Chloe could hear.
As Red leaned in, Chloe’s breath hitched. They were rivals, yet something unspoken simmered between them, the tension escalating. Red’s lips brushed against Chloe’s, tentative at first, before deepening the kiss. It was a rush of adrenaline and rebellion, a collision of worlds neither of them had expected.
Chloe’s mind raced; she had always viewed Red as an adversary, but now there was a thrill in being so close, in sharing this moment that felt like crossing an unspoken line.
As the kiss broke, they both stepped back, eyes wide. The laughter around them faded into the background, leaving only the two of them suspended in their own reality. Red looked almost startled, her usual bravado momentarily softened.
“Maybe we should spin again,” Red suggested, her trademark smirk returning, now laced with intrigue.
“Maybe we should,” Chloe echoed, a shy smile creeping onto her face, the thrill of the moment making her bold.

The following day, Chloe Charming sat cross-legged on her bed, sunlight streaming through the curtains of her and Bridget’s shared dorm room. Despite the warmth of the day, her mind was a whirlwind of thoughts about the previous night’s unexpected events. The kiss with Red replayed in her mind, stirring up emotions she struggled to understand.
Bridget entered the room, her hair still damp from the shower, a towel draped around her shoulders. “You’re awfully quiet. Thinking about last night?” she asked, arching an eyebrow.
Chloe turned to her, her cheeks flushing slightly. “Yeah, I guess. I mean, what even happened? I kissed Red!” She winced at the realization, still grappling with the implications.
Bridget rolled her eyes, flopping down on her bed. “Right? You and Red? I still can’t believe it. The way she strutted around like she owned the place? Ugh, it’s infuriating.”
Chloe sighed, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “But it was different. I don’t know how to explain it. One moment, we were rivals, and the next, we were kissing.” She felt a mix of excitement and uncertainty, unsure how to sort through her emotions.
“Did it feel good?” Bridget asked, her tone more curious than judgmental.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just then, there was a knock at the door, and Dizzy Tremaine peeked her head in, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “Hey, you two! You’ll never guess what’s happening tonight!”
Chloe and Bridget exchanged glances. “What’s up, Dizzy?” Chloe asked, curious.
“There’s another party! A big one this time, and it’s at my place!” Dizzy exclaimed, practically bouncing on her toes. “You guys have to come! It’s going to be epic!”
Bridget raised an eyebrow. “Isn’t it a little soon for another party? I mean, we just had one last night.”
“Exactly!” Dizzy replied enthusiastically. “And this one is going to be even more fun! You know, with music, games, and all our friends. Plus, I heard Red’s going to be there.”
Chloe felt a jolt at the mention of Red’s name, her heart racing for reasons she didn’t fully understand. “Oh, really?” she managed to say, trying to keep her voice steady.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As they made their way through the crowd, Red’s eyes locked onto Chloe’s, and for a moment, the noise around them faded into the background. There was an intensity in Red’s gaze that sent a shiver down Chloe’s spine.
“Look who decided to show up,” Red called out, a smirk playing on her lips. “Didn’t think you’d come after last night.”
“Yeah, well, I like to keep things interesting,” Chloe replied, trying to sound casual but feeling the heat rise in her cheeks.
Red stepped closer, her expression shifting from playful to serious. “So about last night,” she began, her tone softening. “I didn’t expect it either, but I haven’t stopped thinking about it.”
“Me too,” Chloe admitted, her heart racing as she locked eyes with Red. “It was different. I never imagined I’d kiss you, of all people.”
“Same here,” Red said, her voice barely above a whisper. “But it felt real, didn’t it?”
Chloe nodded, the tension between them palpable. “Yeah, it really did.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Guys! We’re about to start a game of Seven minutes in heaven, and you both have to join!”
Red raised an eyebrow, glancing between Chloe and Dizzy. “Seven Minutes in Heaven?” she asked, a wicked grin forming on her lips.
Chloe felt her cheeks heat up at the thought. “Uh, yeah. I guess so.”
Inside, it was dark and cramped, and the smell of old wood mixed with the faint scent of perfume. They stood in silence for a moment, both acutely aware of the closeness. Chloe could feel her heart pounding in her chest.
“Wow, cozy,” Red said, her voice laced with amusement. “What do you think? Are we going to survive in here for seven minutes?”
Chloe chuckled nervously, her back against the door. “I think I’m ready to face the challenge,” she replied, trying to sound more confident than she felt.
Red stepped closer, her expression shifting from playful to serious. “So about last night,” she began, her tone softening. “I didn’t expect it either, but I haven’t stopped thinking about it.”
Chloe’s mind raced. Should she lean in? Should she pull back? But before she could decide, Red reached up, her fingers brushing lightly against Chloe’s cheek. The contact sent a shiver down Chloe’s spine.
In an instant, Red closed the distance, their lips meeting softly at first, then deepening as the kiss ignited with a passion they hadn't expected. Chloe melted into the kiss, her hands finding their way to Red's hair, feeling the heat between them grow.
As the kiss deepened, Red's hands moved to Chloe's waist, pulling her closer. Suddenly, in a bold move, Red trailed kisses down Chloe's neck, pausing to leave a playful mark—a hickey-just below her ear. The sensation sent a thrill through Chloe, and she gasped softly.
Chloe pulled back slightly, breathless, her fingers instinctively brushing over the spot where Red had marked her. "Did you just?"
Red grinned mischievously, her eyes dancing with delight. "I might have. Whoops?"
The world outside faded away, leaving just the two of them in that tiny closet. Chloe felt a mix of exhilaration and embarrassment. “What if they see?”
But as Red leaned in closer, Chloe realized that every kiss felt like a revelation, dismantling the barriers they had built around each other. The warmth radiated through Chloe, and with each moment, she felt her reservations slip away. This was more than just a game; it was a connection that surprised and thrilled her.
"Let them," Red said with a wink, leaning in for another kiss.
Finally, they broke apart, both breathless. Red’s eyes sparkled with something Chloe had never seen before—vulnerability mixed with mischief.
Before they could say more, another round of laughter erupted from outside the closet, pulling them back to reality. Chloe felt a mix of exhilaration and anxiety. “Should we?”
“Yeah, we probably should,” Red said, a hint of reluctance in her voice. “We can always continue this game at practice?”
“I think this is just the beginning,” Chloe replied, her heart full of hope.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They opened the door and stepped back into the party, the noise rushing back in. The cheers for their return echoed around them, and Chloe caught Bridget’s eye, who was grinning from ear to ear.
As they stepped back into the party, the noise rushed in around them. Chloe caught Bridget’s eye, who wore a knowing smile but didn’t say anything. Instead, her gaze flicked to the purple mark on Chloe’s neck just below her ear, lingering for just a moment before she turned away, a teasing glint in her eyes.
“Well, how was it?” Bridget asked playfully.
Chloe felt her cheeks flush, the memory of their kiss still fresh. “Uh, it was nothing!” she stammered, trying to downplay the moment but failing miserably as she caught sight of Red’s amused expression beside her.
