“Daddy, look!”

Suguru looks up from his laptop screen to look at the little ladies across from him, wide toothy grins adorn their faces. Nanako is showing her hands, fingernails covered in a pastel purple color. Mimiko is sitting beside her sister, still engrossed in her book.

“Your nails look pretty, Nana-chan.” Suguru says fondly, smiling at his daughter who giggles after her father’s compliment. The little girl then continues to paint her nails using the kids manicure set that he got for her on the twins’ eighth birthday two months ago. He watches Nanako ask her sister if she wants her to paint Mimiko’s nails too, to which the raven haired girl shakes her head with a small smile. He smiles at them, shaking his head, endeared at his lovely girls, and proceeds to continue his work as his daughter hums a familiar nursery rhyme.

The three of them continue to work in silence, occasionally Nanako would exclaim in excitement and would show her hands to her father, who in return, would praise her for doing a job well done. Mimiko would quietly ask him the meaning of some words she doesn’t understand in the book she’s reading. This has been their routine every Saturday—just the three of them, sitting in their living room enjoying each other’s company after a week of work and school.

Suguru, twenty-seven, a humble accountant from a known company across Japan, father to Mimiko and Nanako, and has been single for over seven years. It has been Suguru and twins for seven years—with their mother realizing that she wasn’t fit for being a mother so early, for twins at that, leaving their innocent daughters to her random drunken hookup one night from college. Suguru, who wasn’t ready at 20, who had not even finished his degree yet, was left to take care of two babies by himself. Although he had friends and his family to support and help him, he still had a hard time juggling between taking care of his daughters and finishing up two more years of his studies.

Thankfully, he managed to finish college and get a stable job after a few offers and now he’s able to afford a comfortable living for him and the twins. Suguru has no idea where their birth mother is, has not attempted to contact him nor tried to get in touch for the sake of her own daughters—however Suguru supposes that it’s for the best. He’s just thankful that Mimiko and Nanako have no intention to ask for their mother. For now. Suguru will cross that bridge when they get there.

“Daddy, look, it’s finished!” Nanako stands up from the floor and excitedly goes to her father, showing him her uneven painted fingernails.

Suguru chuckles softly, grabbing his daughter’s hands gently and takes a look at her tiny hands. He nods in approval, “You’re getting good at this, pumpkin. Very good.” He says and he gives his daughter a light pat on her head. Nanako giggles heartily as she jumps on her feet in excitement.

“Thank you, daddy! I hope it lasts until Monday so I can show it to my friends.” She says, pouting as she looks at her fingernails.

Her father laughs, “You can do it again tomorrow then love.” He says. Nanako seems to light up at this. Nodding her head, she skips towards her things again to grab the small dryer that comes with it to dry her nails.

He takes a peek at Mimiko, who has her eyebrows crossed, muttering words seemingly from the book she’s reading. Suguru cannot believe how smart his daughter is, being the one who started talking at eleven months old, started walking at thirteen months, and started reading at the age of three.

Suguru watches his daughters again in fondness, warmth seeping to his chest. He feels so happy, getting to watch them grow, patting himself at the back for raising two lovely children.

How quick the time passes by, he thinks. One second he has them crying in his arms with him trembling in fear not knowing what to do in taking care of a baby and then one second they’re here, aged seven, being the perfect little girls.

Suguru cannot help but smile proudly. He feels like he can do anything for his babies.

₊˚ʚ 💙 ₊˚✧ ゚.

Well, except he isn’t necessarily good at one thing.

“Daddy can you braid my hair?”

Suguru’s hand from his necktie stops after hearing Mimiko’s question. He looks at the little girl from the mirror. Mimiko’s dark, round eyes are looking up at him.

“Oh..” He falters. He crouches down to meet his daughter's eyes and gives her a small, sympathetic smile. “I’m sorry my love, but daddy doesn’t know how to braid hair. He only knows how to do pigtails and ponytails. Don’t you want your pigtails today?” He asks. It isn’t everyday that he gets requests from his daughters, so he feels so bad that he cannot do a simple request like this.

Mimiko’s shoulders sag at her father’s words. Suguru immediately feels bad seeing his daughter’s crestfallen face, eyes glimmering with unshed tears.

“Oh…” The little girl mutters, lower lip jutting out. Suguru pulls her to him, embracing her gently before she could cry. He rubs her small back. “I’m sorry Mimi-chan…” He mumbles.

Mimiko shakes her head, “It’s okay daddy.” She says, circling her arms around her daddy’s neck. Suguru slowly and carefully gets up from the floor and carries Mimiko in his arms whose tiny arms are still wrapped around his neck. He gently jostles his daughter and says, “But daddy can learn how to do it, right?”

His daughter’s face visibly lights up at this, making Suguru feel instant relief.

“Really daddy? You would?” She asks. Her father smiles at her and nods his head. “Yep. Give me a few days, okay?” He says.

Mimiko nods her head eagerly, “Of course!” She squeals, tightening her grip on Suguru’s neck. “Thank you daddy, I love you!” She says.

He laughs, “I love you too, baby. Come on, let's finish up preparing so we can go.” He says, placing his daughter on the ground again. Mimiko hurriedly goes to grab her bag and calls out to her twin sister, exclaiming in excitement about the braids. Nanako beams at that, starting a cheery conversation with Mimiko. Suguru lets out a small laugh seeing them jumping on their feet. He grabs their lunch bags and grabs his keys.

The twins’ school is not that far from Suguru’s workplace—just a few blocks away from the main road where he works. It was a school recommended to him by a colleague whose children studied from. And judging from Mimiko and Nanako’s daily stories from their teachers down to her classmates, Suguru must admit that the school is great.

He had met a few of the twins’ teachers over the two years since they started school but they’ve always been different from every grade until they finish elementary. The twins had just started first grade a few weeks ago so he hasn’t met their teacher yet. He only knows of the name, Toru-chan, from Mimiko and Nanako’s endless stories. Judging from his daughters’ enthusiastic stories, this Toru-chan must have been very kind to them for them to have his name on their everyday anecdotes.

And as Suguru pulls over the sidewalk, he sees his daughter’s classmates excitedly walk inside the school. Once he opens the door, Nanako squeals in delight, jumping down the door while Mimiko carefully slides down. Suguru chuckles softly, “Be careful, my darlings.” He reminds them. They both giggle, the apple of their cheeks turning the shade of pink as the impending winter weather approaches.

“I’ll see you both later, hm?” Suguru smiles, crouching down to fix their backpack.

Mimiko and Nanako give both of his cheeks a firm kiss before saying goodbye and running inside the school grounds, Suguru watches his daughter greet her classmates with enthusiasm. And once he sees them step inside the building, both wearing wide smiles as they greet a tall male who crouches down to their height, he turns his heels around, rounding to his car’s driver seat. He sighs as he turns the engine on, gripping the steering wheel before driving away to start the day at work.

“Good morning, Geto-san.” He hears his junior, Nanami, greet him as he settles down on his seat. Suguro turns around to smile at the blonde male, greeting him back. “Hey, Nanami-kun. You look great today.” He chuckles.

Nanami mules his embarrassment with a cough, adjusting his spectacles. Suguro laughs at the man, shaking his head in amusement. It has been two years since Nanami started working under him, yet he still feels awkward and embarrassed with Suguru. The older male thinks that maybe it’s Nanami’s nature to be shy.

“How are the twins, by the way?” Nanami opts to change the topic as he boots up his computer.

Suguru hums in acknowledgment, happy that Nanami sounds genuinely curious to his twins’ whereabouts. Well, he had actually babysat them a while back, Suguru needing to attend a two-day business trip outside of Tokyo. There are a few people he trusts with his children and Nanami is one of them.

“They’re at school right now,” He smiles. “Nanako asked when you were coming over to play, by the way.” Suguru grins. Nanami hums, his lips tugging a little.

“Ah, I want to see them too.” Nanami admits, scratching his ear, a habit he does when he feels shy. Nanami, six feet tall, is blushing at the thought of his senior’s daughters wanting to play with him. Suguru snorts in amusement.

“I’ll tell them we’ve been busy with work.” Suguru says, which was true. They have been busy the past few weeks, probably because of the changes in their board of directors.

Suguru sighs for the fifth time that morning, leaning back on his chair, raising his arms up to stretch before diving into the stack of papers on his desk. Nanami and Suguru share small conversations as they work, and it continues until they clock out of work at three in the afternoon. Suguru admits that he gets bored during work time, sometimes wishing he took up more challenging jobs, but rationally thinking, having a corporate job is better while raising two children by himself. And the pay is high, Suguru is satisfied with that.

He parts ways with Nanami in the parking lot, with the younger man promising that he would visit soon. Suguru dismisses him with a it’s fine, the twins will understand that their uncle Kento is busy . However, Nanami insists that he will visit as soon as he can. Suguru doesn’t argue with him anymore.

He drives back to his daughters’ school, humming along with the song on the radio. Coat and necktie are long gone as soon as he’s seated down in his car, along with his proper bun. He considers lighting up a cigarette but shakes off the idea after remembering his daughters faces telling him to stop. He chuckles at the memory. Oh how he loves his daughters.

He pulls over once he reaches the school, he steps out of his car and leans on the door. He watches kids walk out, talking among themselves. There are some parents and guardians waiting outside like him. He observes the children, smiling at their youthful joy, suddenly remembering himself at their age. He remembers walking alone, wishing he had friends. He was a quiet kid, when he was young, resulting in kids his age refusing to talk to him. Suguru is glad his daughters seem to have enough friends to enjoy school.

“Daddy!”

He hears them before he sees them. Suguru looks up from his gaze at his phone, smiling as his two daughters skips towards him. Before he could even greet them, he audibly gasped upon seeing their hair.

“You have braids!” He exclaims as the twins hurried to hug his legs. The two girls giggle as they successfully wrap their arms around their father’s legs. Suguru’s hands gently grasp at their head, careful not to ruin their hair.

“Yeah! Toru-chan did them!” Mimiko says, voice full of glee.

Suguru cannot help but chuckle lightly. “They’re very pretty.” He says, sincerely admiring his girls’ hair.

Nanako looks up from her position on his leg, “Toru-chan said he will teach you to do braids.” She says, smiling at her father.

He smiles, gently patting their head. “That so? I don’t even know who Toru-chan is.” He lightly teases them. Although he does not really know who Toru-chan is.

Mimiko gasps at that, prying herself away from Suguru. “What!” She exclaims in genuine surprise, eyes wide. “You don’t know Toru-chan ?” She asks. Suguru would have laughed at his daughters’ faces if they did not look perplexed.

“Yeah..? I haven’t met…” Him? Her? “ Toru-chan .” He says.

Both girls turn to each other at the same time, it’s scary. Do twins really move in sync? Suguru shakes his head.

“You have to meet him !” Nanako almost screams. Mimiko nods her head in agreement. Suguru, amused, pats their heads again. “Okay, okay. We have to meet. But for now, we need to go home.” He says. The twins both nod their head and carefully settle themselves inside the car.

Suguru huffs a little, more curious who this Toru-chan is, having both of his daughters spiraling over him not knowing their beloved Toru-chan . After wearing his seatbelt, he looks at the rearview mirror and sees both his daughters in their car seats, whispering to each other. He watches them a little, smiling, now intrigued to what they are talking about. But he knows not to be nosey.

“Are you both secured with your seatbelts?” He asks instead to which they reply an enthusiastic “Yeah!”. Suguru hums before driving home. He looks at the mirror again to see them settled on their seats, holding hands.

“Anything happened today besides your lovely braids?” Suguru asks to converse with his daughters.

Nanako perks up at the question, then begins to ramble about their friends.

“Gumi-chan has pet frogs, that’s so cool!” Nanako exclaims.

“Their names are Kuro and Shiro.” Mimiko quietly adds, earning a nod from Nanako. “He’s soooo cool! I think Yuuji-kun likes him, I see heart eyes when he looks at Gumi-chan!” The ever enthusiastic girl exclaims.

Suguru snorts. How do seven year old kids know about heart eyes, he would never know. He listens to his daughters, happy that they have friends to play with.

Megumi, Gumi-chan, he learns is their Toru-chan ’s kid. He also learns that the same Yuuji-kun his daughters have been talking about having pink hair and the one who always has heart eyes to Megumi, is the same nephew Nanami had mentioned way back when he learned the twins attend his nephew’s school.

He learns a lot listening to his daughters’ daily gossip. He even knows about the doctor friend Yeri-chan, Suguru thinks he must be hearing wrong with her name, who often visits the school and plays with the kids. Apparently Yeri-chan is also their teacher’s, Yori-chan , lover. Sometimes Suguru wonders how these two seven year old kids even remember all the details.

They arrive at home after ten minutes, his girls wash up, he prepares dinner, and after a few hours of doing homeworks together in the living room, they eat dinner. And after playing, at Nine in the evening, Suguru tucks his daughters in their bed, kisses their foreheads, whispers “Good night, I love you.”, he finally has the time to himself at, he looks at the wall clock above their TV, 9:15pm.

Suguru sighs to himself, bending down to grab at the toys scattered on the living room floor, cleaning up.

He sits down on the couch, leaning his head and closing his eyes. Raising two kids alone is hard, Suguru knows that ever since he was twenty. It was hard with both parents present but it was harder when you’re alone.

On nights like this, Suguru thinks of finding a partner to have someone to grow old with and share this life with them. However, he knows it would not be easy, especially now that he’s nearing thirty with two kids. He had dates before, when the twins were younger, but upon knowing he has children, they back off saying they’re not ready for that kind of commitment including raising kids. Suguru would understand, saying it’s okay with a kind smile on his face, but it does not stop him from feeling disappointed and upset.

How is having kids a problem?

Suguru sighs again and stands up to wash up and sleep. He knows he won’t be able to find someone and that’s fine with him. He has daughters who love him and that is enough.

₊˚ʚ 💙 ₊˚✧ ゚.

Suguru feels the air in his lungs get stuck in his throat.

“You must be Suguru-san!”

He thinks he might have died or something.

How is an angel talking to him?

“It’s so nice to finally meet you! I’m Mimi-chan and Nana-chan’s teacher, Gojo Satoru!” The angel, Satoru, exclaims with a wide smile (a beautiful one, Suguru thinks).

“Oh… Uhm…” Suguru would smack himself for stuttering in front of the most gorgeous person he has ever met.

Satoru, ever so kind, laughs a little at Suguru’s flustered face. Suguru knows he looks stupid right now, tongue tied and reddened cheeks.

“It’s nice to meet you, Gojo-san.” Suguru finally managed to croak out, clearing his throat, hiding his blush behind his fist. There is something in Satoru’s smile that makes him blush like a teenager. Jesus Christ, Satoru probably thinks he’s a lame dad.

“Mimi-chan and Nana-chan told me soooo much about you.” He grins. Jesus, he’s so fucking pretty, it’s so unfair that he has perfect teeth! Suguru might combust any second now.

What a fucking loser.

Geto Suguru, cause of death: A Pretty Boy.

Satoru tilts his head in amusement, his smile might tear his face from how wide it is. Suguru groans mentally, cursing himself for acting like a high school student, a blushing mess in front of his crush.

“Are you okay, Suguru-san?” Satoru asks, voice so pretty. Jesus Christ.

God, how many times has Suguru called for Jesus, he’s not even a Christian!

“I’m alright.” Suguru replies, clearing his throat again.

Satoru just smiles at him, batted his goddamn long eyelashes. “That’s good!” He beams, turning his heels around. He looks at Suguru behind his shoulders, eyes still shining. “I’m so glad you made it for this meeting!” He exclaims, gesturing for Suguru to follow him.

Suguru trails behind the beauty, listening to him ramble about his daughters about their performance at school or something, Suguru does not know. He really is not listening, distracted with how soothing Satoru’s voice sounds. He looks too cute too! With his soft yellow cardigan and slacks. Suguru gulps and then wipes his clammy hands on his pants.

They arrived in a room full of what seems to be parents (or guardians) of the first graders. Satoru smiles at him again before beckoning him to sit down on a vacant chair beside a woman who greets him politely with a small bow. Suguru greeted her back with a smile.

“Okay, we’re now complete!” Satoru beams at them, smile so wide, his blue eyes crinkling, charming everyone in the room, especially , especially Suguru. God, he’s so pathetic.

Suguru listens to Satoru talk about their kids, not listening (again), and opts to observe (read: stare) at Satoru’s features. He has wild, soft looking, white hair, blue eyes that turn to crescents when he smiles, pink lips (what?), and tall built. He’s probably the same height as Suguru, if not, a little taller than him. While he and Suguru are the same height, Suguru is definitely broader than the teacher. Satoru is tall, but he’s all lean, unlike Suguru who looks like a wall.

He does not know how much time has passed, all he knows was he probably memorized Satoru’s facial features.

“Alright, that’s about it!” Satoru says, clapping his hands. “Thank you everyone for your time, I’m so happy to be able to teach your children.” He says, bowing to everyone present in the room.

Suguru smiles, and for a second, Satoru’s gaze meets his. His heart skipped a beat, bowing his head, blinking. Fuck, he curses. This is bad.

A few minutes more and Satoru is dismissing them, thanking them again for their time.

Suguru stands up, stretching a little. He is about to leave the classroom when he feels a soft tap on his shoulder. He turns around and sees Satoru smiling at him.

“Hi.” He says. Suguru feels air in his throat again. “Hi.” He parrots.

Satoru chuckles lightly. “May I bother you for a second?” He asks.

Suguru, ever so radical, almost said “You can bother me forever.” , but stops himself before he opens his mouth. He gnaws at his bottom lip, “Is there something wrong?” He asks, worried.

Satoru waves his hands. Suguru notes that even his fingers are pretty. Long. Pretty long. Fuck.

“No, no. It’s nothing to worry about.” He says, making Suguru sigh in relief.

“It’s just…” Satoru trails off, pursing his lips (cutely). “I’m assuming you know Mimi-chan and Nana-chan are friends with Megumi?” He asks.

Suguru nods his head. “Yeah, of course. They always talk my ears off about Megumi, Yuuji, and Nobara.” He chuckles. Satoru beams at this. “That’s good!” He exclaims, before clearing his throat. “I mean, that’s good. That’s great.”

“Uhm… The thing is…” Satoru ponders, Suguru waits for him to continue. He looks at Suguru with his big, blue eyes. “The weekend is coming up and Megumi and the other kids want to play with the twins? For a day?” He says, unsure. “Uhh.. It’s fine if you’re not fine with them playing outside of school!” He adds.

Suguru cannot help the amused smile on his lips. He does not say anything though, hoping for Satoru to continue. “It’s just… Gumi is really an aloof kid but he seems to like Mimi-chan and Nana-chan… Yuuji-kun and Noba-chan too, of course! It’s just… He mentioned that he wants to play with them longer and I do not have the heart to refuse… So I’m here.”

“Hey,” Suguru starts. “It’s okay, Gojo-san. I’ll ask my kids if they want to.” He smiles. Satoru perks up at that, from looking like a sad kitten, to a happy one. Oh. Yeah. He looks like a cat to Suguru. A white one.

“Really? That’s awesome!”

Suguru nods his head, “Yeah. I’m pretty sure they will be ecstatic to go, but I’m still going to ask them.” He smiles.

Oh, and how will he tell Satoru that the twins will go?

“Thank you! I can give you my personal number to update me!” Satoru smiles, answering Suguru’s question.

“Sure.” Suguru is already fishing out his phone from his pocket.

₊˚ʚ 💙 ₊˚✧ ゚.

“Really, daddy?!” Mimiko jumps up from her bed. Suguru laughs softly at his daughters’ reaction. He was right. They will surely say yes.

“Okay, okay. I will inform Gojo-san.” He hums, as he rubs both of his daughters’ back.

“Hmm?” Nanako looks up at him, eyes sleepy. “Toru-chan?” She mumbles. Suguru chuckles. “Yeah, Toru-chan.”

Suddenly both girls sit up properly. They look at each other then to Suguru who has his eyebrows furrowed. What?

“Daddy…” Nanako starts. “Toru-chan is pretty, right?” She asks, a tiny mischievous smile present on her tiny face. Suguru frowns. “Right, daddy? Toru-chan is reaaaaally pretty.” Nanako repeats, leaning forward.

Suguru pinches the bridge of his nose. “Why are you asking me this?” He sighs.

Mimiko grabs his hand, “Nothing. Please answer Nana’s question, daddy.” She softly says. When did his girls get so cunning?

“He is.” Suguru gives up and answers them. Both girls beam at the answer. “Reallyyy?!” Nanako exclaims. Suguru, still confused, nods his head. “Of course he is.” He says.

Both girls let out a squeal, startling Suguru. Seriously? What is the big deal?

Before Suguru could ask, both girls were out of the room. Their father was left confused on their bed.

He pulls out his phone from his pocket.

₊˚ʚ 💙 ₊˚✧ ゚.

“Daddy!” He hears Mimiko call from the living room.

Suguru hurries, making sure he looks… Okay, before padding down the stairs. He sees his girls sitting on the couch, talking quietly. Suguru smiles, seeing their matching Kuromi and My Melody bag beside them.

“Are you ready?” Suguru asks them, grabbing his keys from the table. The twins quickly jump down from the couch, grabbing their bags. “Yes, daddy!”

Suguru nods and gestures to them to walk out of the house. He makes sure everything is in place before walking out and locking the door. He sees the girls jumping in excitement beside their family car. He laughs softly then he puts the two girls on their respective car seats.

The drive towards the location Satoru gave him earlier was relatively quiet, if not for the two girls talking to each other about what they would do when they reach Gumi-chan ’s house.

When they reach the location, Suguru is surprised to see a rather huge looking house as per her daughters’ words. The gate is tall, this is definitely not your average Japanese house, Suguru wonders then on how rich Gojo Satoru might be. The gate is also automatic (Jesus Christ!), having to talk through a speaker outside to let his car inside. Suddenly he feels so underdressed.

Upon reaching the main entrance of the mansion, Suguru would call it a mansion, three kids go out to greet them. Megumi, Yuuji, and the little girl Nobara come rushing outside. His twins squeal in delight seeing their friends.

“Mimi-chan, Nana-chan!” Yuuji, the little nephew of Nanami, greets his daughters with a wave. Megumi, who’s from Satoru’s description, is shy and quiet. He is the one who sees him first and greets him with a tiny smile and a polite bow. Suguru smiles warmly, knowing Satoru is raising this kid, and bows back to the kid.

Nobara, the little girl with bob hair makes a beeline towards his daughters and hugs them. Mimiko and Nanako both giggle and both give the little girl a hug back. Suguru feels the need to take a picture of his girls with her friends but he does not want to ruin the moment.

Just as Suguru is about to say goodbye to his kids, he hears someone call him.

“Suguru-san!” Satoru in his glory, is wearing a white dress shirt and cream slacks. So simple, yet Suguru feels lightheaded. He’s just so fucking pretty.

“Satoru-san.” He manages to greet back with a smile. Satoru puts his hands on his hips and looks at the children in front of them. “Kids, did you say hi to Mimi-chan and Nana-chan’s dad?” He asks.

Suguru feels shy all of a sudden, having five children looking at him.

“I already greeted Geto-san.” Megumi says, hands gripping on his shirt as he makes his way to Satoru who reaches out to pat the child’s hair. “Very good.” Satoru beams at his child who looks up and smiles.

“I’m sorry Geto-san!” Yuuji bows his head to which Suguru quickly waves off. “It’s okay, Yuuji-kun. No need to apologize.” He softly says to the child.

Nobara, who's still wrapped around his children, turns his head towards him with her wide eyes. “‘m sorry, Guru-san…” She mumbles. Suguru’s heart melts at the sight. Her children are looking at him as if asking him to forgive their friend.

“It’s okay, no need to apologize.” He says with a smile, hoping the children would not be upset anymore.

Satoru, who is watching them, smiles and then claps his hands to get their attention. “Okay kids, go inside and then you can play.” He says that had the children cheering. The twins are then pulled by Nobara and Yuuji inside the house.

That leaves Suguru in the presence of Satoru, again.

“Let’s go inside, Suguru-san.”

The man mentioned looks at Satoru as if he grew another head. The latter only laughs and then he’s calling someone, “Ijichi-san!” and then a man probably about their age comes with a bow. Suguru greets him back.

“Can you please drive Suguru-san’s car to the parking?” He asks. Suguru whips his head towards the white haired man again, confused yet he cannot form words to ask.

The man bows his head and turns to look at Suguru with a small smile. “May I have your keys, sir?” He asks.

Suguru, who does not know what to do, gives the other man his keys and Ijichi bows once more and leaves. Satoru hums a thank you and then he looks at Suguru with a bright smile. “Let’s go?” He says. Before Suguru can utter anything, Satoru is walking inside the door.

He is instructed to put his shoes at the rack where he also sees his children’s shoes, stacked neatly. Satoru gives him a pair of indoor slippers. Suguru mutters a small thanks before following the other man inside.

When they reach the living room, he sees the children playing on the floor. Then he looks at the people sitting on the sofa and notices someone familiar.

“Nanami.” He calls. The blonde man looks at them and smiles. “Geto-san.” He greets as if they did not see each other yesterday.

“Oh yeah, you mentioned Suguru-san as your supervisor.” Satoru says to which Nanami nodded. There are two other people sitting with Nanami on the couch, both women.

“Suguru-san, these people are my closest friends. You already know Nanamin, so I’m introducing you to my platonic girlfriends,” Satoru starts, which earns him a retching sound from one of them, Suguru does not know from whom. “The bob lesbian is Shoko Ieri, she’s a doctor.” Suguru suddenly remembers the one story his daughters told him. She’s Yeri-chan, the doctor. “And the other lesbian beside her is Utahime Iori, she’s also a teacher at the school. But she teaches higher grades.” And she’s Yori-chan , the teacher and Yeri-chan’ s lover, or partner.

Suguru bows in front of them, “It’s nice to meet you Shoko-san, Utahime-san.” He says.

Bob lesbian—or Shoko Ieri, clicks his tongue towards Satoru, “Why can’t you be polite like him?” She grumbles then she looks at him with a soft smile, “Nice to meet you too, Geto-san.” She greets.

“A pleasure to meet Mimi-chan and Nana-chan’s loving father, I have heard so many great things about you.” Utahime Iori, the other lesbian, says. Suguru smiles, bashful. He always feels giddy when he hears that he’s great at raising his children.

Pleasantries were exchanged when he sat beside them. He takes time to get to know the two women, having known Nanami for two years already. They are fun to talk to, especially when Shoko is talking about her doctor words to them, and then seeing Utahime stare at her lovingly. It’s fun to watch.

He did not expect to be invited too in this playdate, since Satoru only asked for the kids, but he is not complaining. Now that he has gained two more friends. Satoru opts to sit with the kids to play with them because that is what he does best. Be with kids.

He observes Satoru and Megumi, seeing similarities in their personalities at the same time not. Shoko probably noticed his gaze, “If you’re curious, this is the only thing I can say because a lot of people already know.” She says, gaining Suguru’s attention. “Megumi is adopted by Satoru.” She finishes.

Suguru does not say anything else, he just nods his head and turns his head to watch the kids and Satoru again.

“That doesn’t mean that Megumi-kun is less his child.” Suguru softly says, careful of what he says. He hears someone snort, probably Shoko, but he pays no mind to her.

“Well, yeah. Satoru would do anything for Gumi and Miki.” Shoko says.

That piques Suguru’s attention. “Miki?” He asks.

“Megumi-kun’s older sister, Tsumiki.” Nanami supplies, “She’s already in middle school, so she’s not here yet.” He says.

Suguru nods his head. Megumi and Tsumiki. Somehow that makes him smile. Sweet Satoru, adopted two children to be his own. That is amazing in Suguru’s books.

“You like him.” Utahime whispers, probably in shock or whatever.

Suguru, this time, sputters, and feels all his blood run to his face. Shoko snickers at him, hiding behind her partner, who’s still staring at him in disbelief.

“W-what?” Suguru manages to ask, heartbeat picking fast.

“Oh my god , you do.” Utahime repeats.

Suguru looks at Nanami who only turns to look in the opposite direction. Suguru clicks his tongue. Traitor.

“I…” Suguru trails off. “I don’t…”

Shoko, who finally stopped laughing, looks at him seriously. “I hope you’re serious about that.” She actually says. Suguru thinks the temperature dropped suddenly. He gulps, “I… Don’t know yet… But I do feel attraction.” He says quietly, afraid that Satoru might hear them.

The three of them look at each other. “Well, that’s good. Definitely going places.” Utahime nods her head.

Shoko taps her thigh, “If you plan to pursue him, you just have to be patient.” She says and does not elaborate anymore. Suguru respects that. He does not know why but he nods his head in understanding and that seems to satiate Shoko.

Silence engulfs them, and as if on cue, Satoru comes to them and sits beside Utahime. “What’cha doing guys?” He asks with a wide grin. Suguru thinks for a moment if he heard them. Probably not.

“Nah, Nanami said he’s hungry.” Shoko says, making the man mentioned cough in surprise.

Satoru seems to believe that so he stands up, “Okay! I’ll prepare the snacks for the kids and for the adults!” He says as he trudges towards what looks like the kitchen.

Suguru lets out a sigh that he did not know he’s holding back. Nanami looks at Shoko like she betrayed him.

“I’m serious, Suguru” Shoko suddenly says, omitting every honorific, “Be patient with him.” She says before standing up and following Satoru in the kitchen.

Suguru wonders then, if something had happened to Satoru, an angel on earth, God’s favorite child, that his friends, Shoko especially, are this protective of him. He shakes his head and leans his head on the couch. Whatever it is, it’s Satoru’s story to tell.

Relatively, the day goes by quickly. Suguru sees how happy his daughters are playing with her friends and it makes him happy too. Then when it’s half past three in the afternoon, he sees Mimiko ask Satoru for something to which the latter happily agrees to and Suguru learns that his daughter has asked him to braid her hair.

This gives him the courage to go over to where they are seated on the floor.

“Hey.” Suguru says before sitting down beside them. Satoru turns to look at him with a smile, “Hi!” He beams.

Suguru thinks Satoru is a sunshine incarnate. Because there is no way a normal person would make Suguru look at colors this bright.

“Would you teach me how to do it?” He asks. Satoru tilts his head in confusion, “Teach you what, exactly?” He asks.

Suguru points at the hair. “The braids.”

“Oh! Of course!” He says.

So they’re on the floor sitting together with both of his children on each of their laps, with Satoru explaining in detail how to braid hair. He also mentions that he had a lot of practice doing this because of Tsumiki, whom Suguru had not met yet.

Nanako is quite behaved on his lap, no squirming, no whining, Suguru is actually surprised. Mimiko is talking to his sister while the two adults do their hair. Suguru is listening intently to what Satoru is instructing, making sure that he follows him. Suguru laughs a little when he sees Mimiko yawning, getting sleepy with all the head scratches Satoru is doing to her.

“And… She’s asleep.” Satoru laughs softly, hand still gently scratching Mimiko’s head. Suguru feels Nanako tug on his hand, he looks down and sees her pointing to Mimiko. “You want to sleep too?” Suguru asks. The little girl nods her head, yawning. “Okay.” He says before tugging her to her chest.

However, Nanako suddenly pulls away from him and then sits on Satoru’s vacant thigh. Suguru’s eyes widened in surprise. “I’m sorry.” He immediately apologizes to Satoru, who waves him off, wrapping his other arm around Nanako, who already made herself comfortable on the white haired male’s chest.

Suguru, unable to say anything in shock, remains frozen beside Satoru and his two daughters. He roams his eyes around the room and sees Shoko looking at them. The three kids are still playing with the building blocks, no intention to stop and take a nap like his daughters.

Which was completely incorrect, because when Yuuji sees Mimiko and Nanako taking a nap, he stands up and makes his way to Nanami who hoists him up to his lap. Nobara whines, then goes to Shoko and Utahime. Megumi is the last one on the floor, confused why his friends suddenly stopped. His tiny eyes look around the room and see them napping, he pouts. Megumi sees Satoru with the twins, and walks towards them.

“Me?” He asks softly, looking at Satoru.

“Do you want to nap too, baby?” The teacher asks. Megumi nods his head.

Suguru takes pity and carefully taps Megumi on the arm. The little boy looks at him, pouting. “Would you let me hold you?” He hesitantly asks. Megumi stares at him for a few seconds, then looks at the twins in Satoru’s arms, then back at Suguru.

“It’s okay if you don’t want to.” Suguru smiles at the kid, not wanting to spook him.

Megumi shakes his head as a reply and slowly crawls towards Suguru and settles on his lap. Suguru looks at Satoru, unsure. He wouldn’t want to impose. Satoru nods his head though, much to Suguru’s delight. He wraps his arm around the boy, watching him squirm to a more comfortable position.

It’s nice.

Holding Satoru’s kid, that is. It’s not everyday he gets to hold another kid other than his, so this is a new feeling. Definitely a welcoming one. The (massive) house is embraced by a comfortable silence. Satoru looks… Great… Holding his kids. Suguru could not help but daydream—imagine that everyday Satoru gets to hold his children, as much as he wants to hold Megumi, and of course his sister.

Fuck , he actually mutters under his breath. Megumi stirs a little, Suguru shushes him.

They sat there, holding kids as they nap when Tsumiki arrives home. Suguru sees her for the first time, a tall girl with brown hair and soft eyes. She greets everyone politely and smiles at them, she greets Suguru too even though she knows nothing about him. She smiles when she sees her dad cradling two strangers. Suguru thinks that she must have been an angel too.

Dinner time when he properly introduced himself to Tsumiki who welcomes him and his children warmly. She’s soft spoken, Suguru thinks that she is the type of person to apologize to inanimate objects. He’s the complete opposite of Megumi and Satoru. She complements his brother and dad, it’s cute. Dinner goes by and it’s time to say goodbye and good night.

The kids whine, saying they want to play more to which the adults say that they will see each other at school, and they can play again.

They watch Nanami, Yuuji, and Nobara go first, with Ijichi driving them home. Satoru looks at him with a smile.

“This was fun.” Satoru says. Suguru nods his head, “Yeah, the twins loved it here. Thank you again for inviting us.” He says.

“We could do it again.” Satoru laughs, jostling Nanako that was in his arms. Suguru chuckles, “It would be bothersome for you, though.”

“Nonsense! I love having the kids around.”

Suguru smiles, looking at Satoru who looks dashing under the moonlight. “You look lovely.” He mumbles.

Satoru’s eyes widened in surprise. Suguru seems to realize what he said, so sputters. “I-I’m sorry, it just came out, oh Lord.” He stutters. “I’ve called out Jesus’ name every time I see you—oh my god, I should stop talking.”

Satoru’s red cheeks and ears complements his pale complexion. It looks gorgeous on him. “Y-you… What?” He utters.

Suguru bites his lower lip in nervousness.

Fuck.

It’s now or never.

He turns to look at Satoru, whose cheeks are still red.

“D-Do you want to go out with me?”

Satoru’s eyes widened again.

“M-Me?”

Suguru lets out a huff—or a snort, he does not know.

“Yeah, you. I know we haven’t known each other for long, you just… Blow my mind away every time.” Suguru starts rambling. “You’re the most beautiful person I’ve met, and I would be stupid to not shoot my shot. I may look stupid right now, but I’m serious. You amaze me, Satoru-san. I want to know you better if you’d let me.”

The other man has not said anything. Satoru stares at him with reddened cheeks. So pretty, so beautiful.

“If…” Satoru whispers, “If you’re asking me on a date, you can speak informally to me.. Suguru.” He says.

Suguru takes a deep breath, “Are you saying yes, Satoru ?” He asks.

Satoru bites his lower lip, and if ever, his cheeks reddened more.

“Yes.”

Suguru smiles, wide, toothy, matching Satoru’s. He fights the urge to cheer because of the sleeping children in their arms.

“Thank y—” Before he could even finish, they heard another voice interrupting them.

“Toru-chan, other papa?” Mimiko sleepily mumbles, rubbing at her eyes. Satoru looks like he would combust any time now with how red he looks. It’s cute honestly.

“Not yet, my love.” Suguru says, smiling at his daughter and then booping her button nose. Satoru lets out a small squeak, Nanako waking up in the process.

“What happened?” She asks, yawning and then burying her face on Satoru’s neck. Suguru laughs softly before walking towards Satoru and gently pulling the child away from him. “We’ll get going now, Satoru.” He says.

Satoru blushes again. “Okay, Suguru.” He says, wrapping himself with his arms.

“You should go inside, it’s getting colder. Thank you again for the day, I hope we see each other soon.” Suguru says before walking down the steps carefully. He stops, and then he smiles at the other man. “Well, we will see each other soon.” He winks and then he continues to walk towards his car. “Send my regards to Shoko-san, Utahime-san, Megumi, and Tsumiki.”

Once the car is out of the gate, Satoru turns his heel towards the house and slams the door shut. He blinks rapidly, heart rate so fast Satoru is scared it will jump out of his chest. He breathes deeply before marching towards the living room where Shoko and Utahime are left off, still building blocks with Megumi, and now joined in by Tsumiki.

When he audibly sits down on the space next to Shoko, they all look at him in confusion.

“What’s the matter?” Shoko asks, eyebrow raising. Satoru looks at her, eyes blown, face red.

“The hell happened to you? You look like you ran a race!” Utahime asks.

“Oh my god.” Satoru whispers.

Megumi and Tsumiki look at each other, worried across their faces. Megumi stands up then makes his way to Satoru who wraps his arms around his tiny frame when he climbs up to him. “Did he do something to you?” Megumi asks quietly, little hands holding Satoru’s red face.

Shoko’s eyebrows shoot up, “What did he do? Do we beat him up?” She asks. Utahime gently slaps her shoulder.

Megumi nods his head, “Yeah! I will beat him up!” He says.

Satoru lets out a chuckle, his grip on Megumi, tightening. “No, no beating up Megs. Please do not do that.” He says, leaning to place a kiss on Megumi’s cheek. The kid pulls back, whining.

“Then what happened, papa?” The ever so sweet Miki asks.

“Don’t worry your little heads, it’s not something serious.” He says.

Shoko rolls her eyes, “If it was nothing serious, you would not be red as a tomato.” she pauses, then looks at Utahime then back to Satoru. Her eyes wide, “Wait, don’t tell me you kissed?” She asks.

Satoru almost chokes on his own saliva. “No! No. Oh my god Ieri.” He says, quite exasperated. Although his cheeks reddened again at the thought.

Megumi frowns at that, “What? You like him?” he asks.

Satoru looks at the kid on his lap, the frown on his tiny face giving him wrinkles at an early age. “Do you not want me to like him?” He asks instead of answering. He’d have to ask his children first before doing this. If Megumi or Tsumiki does not want to, then he won’t. The children come first before him.

“No… I’m just asking if you like him.” Megumi mumbles, burying his face on Satoru’s neck. The older man rubs his small back, humming. “I actually do like him.” Is what he said to Megumi, to Tsumiki, to Shoko, and to Utahime. Probably to himself too.

Megumi’s arms on his neck tightened.

Satoru looks at Shoko with a small smile. “Is it bad?” He asks.

Shoko scoots more to him, their thighs touching. She leans her head until they fall on his shoulder, the one Megumi is not occupying.

“You know, I never thought I would see you smile at another man again.” She starts, Satoru listens. “The last time was hard to see you, you know? You were so devastated, so hurt, we were scared you know? That you won’t be able to recover. That you won’t be able to stand again.” Shoko inhales deeply, her voice cracking. “You were always so selfless, so kind, so loving that you often forget to leave some of that love to yourself that it makes me mad, makes me mad so bad that I wanted to scream at you for not loving yourself enough.”

Satoru feels a hand on his and he knows it’s Tsumiki who also leans on him, head resting on his knees. He feels Shoko shaking slightly, if not for Utahime who’s holding her, she would have broken down already.

“But you were also always so resilient, you know? You stood up again, you continued again.” Shoko whispers. Satoru feels warmth in his eyes, and a lump on his throat.

“I made it out of that hellhole with the help of you guys, too.” Satoru says a few seconds later when Shoko stopped talking, busy wiping her eyes. “Biggest part of it was of course these two,” He says, caressing Megumi’s hair and the other Tsumiki’s. “And I’m thankful for all of you. Nanami too.” He sighs.

Shoko sniffs, Satoru would have laughed at her face if this was a different situation. He’s letting this go. “I-I know… We’re thankful for you too.” Shoko mumbles, wiping her eyes again.

“When Mimiko and Nanako first started at the school, you became more talkative. Always telling us stories about these twins who would talk your ears off, talking about their amazing father that it made you curious to who is this Suguru that the twins think so highly of, raising them all by himself. I saw your childlike curiosity again. And then you talked about them being friends with our Megumi, we know these kids are good for you. When you talked about talking to Suguru for the first time, the man that stole your breath away, as you said it, I was scared. We were scared.” Shoko stops, coughing a little. “It’s because we were scared you’d get hurt again.” She utters.

“Meeting him today, we saw how he cared for you and your kids. How he cared for his own. Kento talks highly of him too, you know? He said Suguru was the first person who taught him everything he knows in their company, and that until today, he respects him dearly. When you talk to him, we see your smile, the way your eyes shine. So no, Satoru, it’s not a bad thing that you like him.” Shoko pulls her head away to look at her best friend, her platonic other half, and then she smiles. “He makes you happy, Toru. And that’s more than enough for us.”

Tears stream down Satoru’s face with Shoko immediately wiping them away.

“Thank you.” He whispers.

Shoko wraps her arms around him and Megumi, careful of Tsumiki. Utahime smiles at him, offering an encouraging pat on the cheek.

He loves them. He loves his friends, he loves his small family. He loves them so much. And he is so thankful for having them in his life.

Suguru ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ

Hi :-)

Are you free tomorrow?

Satoru stares at his phone, Suguru’s message staring back at him. Oh. It’s really happening. He really is going on a date with Suguru. He hasn’t been on a date in three years, so he feels nervous and excited.

Gojo Satoru

Satoru feels his cheeks warming at his last message. He cannot believe he just called Suguru that! He bangs his head on the table, startling Utahime beside him. She curses at him which he ignored, earning another curse. There’s a ping on his phone, his heart racing.

Satoru is going to combust, for real. Yaga would understand, right? That his favorite employee/teacher would file his resignation to migrate to another country to scream like a teenager? Because his crush flirted with him?

Yaga would punch his head though.

₊˚ʚ 💙 ₊˚✧ ゚.

It’s date day and he’s fucking panicking. He’s looking through his wardrobe, feeling that nothing is good enough to wear to his date with Suguru.

A date with Suguru.

Satoru feels like screaming again, jumping around his room.

“What are you doing, papa?” Satoru stops whatever jumping he’s doing when he sees Megumi at the slightly ajar door, looking at him weirdly.

“Gumi!” He squeaks, feeling embarrassed that his son saw him like that. However, he does not have the time to feel embarrassed because in thirty minutes, Suguru is going to arrive. “Gumi…! I don’t know what to wear!” He whines.

Megumi scrunches his face, “You have two closets, I’m sure you can choose one!” He exclaims, tiny arms in the air. Satoru looks at the sassy child. He’s too sassy for a seven year old! Who raised this kid?

Oh wait. He did. Heh.

“Okay. You’re right. But what theme should I wear? Should I go all out or just casual?”

“Wear what your heart wants, Toru!” Megumi groans. Uh oh. He only calls Satoru by his name when he’s annoyed.

“Okay. Thanks, bud. Is Miki nee-san home?” He asks instead, averting the topic to distract Megumi.

“Yeah. She just got home, though.” The kid replies, walking inside and tries to climb up Satoru’s huge bed. The older man takes pity on his kid and hoists him up by the armpit to sit him down on the bed. Megumi groans again, muttering how he does not need help, that he’s a big boy.

Satoru sniffs, no. Megumi could be five foot ten, and still be his baby. Tsumiki probably feels the same.

It took them ten minutes of trial and error and Megumi’s critique to actually find the pair of clothes he feels satisfied with. He looks at the mirror with a huff, smiling at his reflection.

“Please tell me you won’t change your mind.” The little boy on his bed says, begging. Satoru laughs and ruffles Megumi’s hair, who swats his hand away.

“Thank you for helping me, my Gumi.” He says, kneeling before the child and taking his tiny hands in his. “Are you fine with this, sweetheart?” He asks, rubbing his thumbs on the boy’s palms.

Megumi tilts his head to the side, raising his eyebrow. “Why?” He asks. The older man hums, leans his head towards the child’s to press their foreheads together. “I’m just wondering if you’re okay with me going on a date and liking Suguru.” He says.

Megumi purses his lips into a thin line. “It’s okay, papa.” The little boy mumbles in his softest voice. “If you like him, then okay. If he hurts you I will smack him.” He says, trying his best to sound threatening. Satoru smiles, presses his lips on Megumi’s forehead then nuzzles his son’s nose.

“You’re a blessing to me, my Gumi. You and your sister make me happy.” He says, voice heavy with emotions. “I’m so happy to be the one to raise you and to watch you grow.” His voice cracks.

Megumi wraps his arms around his father, “Thank you for taking care of me and Miki-nee.” He says. “You can date Sugu-san, if he makes you happy too!”

Satoru laughs wetly, feeling emotional after having a talk with his son. “Yeah, he does my love.” He says.

They stay like that for a few moments before they hear Tsumiki’s voice from downstairs. “Papa! Suguru-san is here!” She shouts. The father-son duo pulls away from each other with Satoru looking at Megumi with pure adoration.

“I love you sweetheart.” He says, pressing another kiss on Megumi’s forehead before standing up, patting his pants. Megumi jumps down from the bed and holds Satoru’s hand. The latter squeezes the little hand and then they walk out.

When they reach down, he sees Tsumiki and Shoko, who’s the designated babysitter of the night, with Suguru on their couch, with the little girl talking animatedly with the other man joining her.

Suguru notices them first and then Shoko and Tsumiki who turns her head to Satoru and her brother who are walking towards them. The little girl plops down to grab Megumi from their dad. The raven haired man stands up, smiles oh so lovely to Satoru. Shoko scoots away from them, a lollipop on her mouth.

“You look amazing.” Satoru blurts out before Suguru. The other man laughs softly, trudging towards him, hands both in his pants pocket. How can a person look great with a simple white shirt, a black puffer jacket, and pants?! Satoru has no idea, but Suguru does it effortlessly.

”You too,” Suguru grins, “You look more than great, Satoru.” He finishes off softly.

Satoru feels his cheeks warming, something he notices he does when he is with Suguru. “Thank you.”

Someone clears their throat and they both turn their heads, face red. Shoko smirks at them with both Tsumiki and Megumi already clinging to her. She shakes her head at her friends, “You both can go now and enjoy the night.” She says, a hand caressing Megumi’s wild hair.

Satoru nods his head and turns to look at Tsumiki and then to Megumi. “You kids behave. okay? Don’t be bad to auntie Ieri.”

Tsumiki and Megumi nod their heads. “Okay papa.” Both kids reply. It warms Satoru’s heart, seeing his kids like this.

They both say their goodbyes with Tsumiki and Megumi giving their last hug. Shoko walks with them to the door, with a hand on her  hip. Satoru smiles at her.

”Enjoy you two,” She says and then she’s giving them a smirk, “You use protection, alright? Four kids are enough for the two of you.” She wiggles her eyebrows.

Satoru groans at her while Suguru coughs a little. Shoko only responds with a laugh before waving her hand to shoo them.’’

When they are both settled in Suguru’s car, Satoru cannot help but look around. The car is a family car, but Satoru still feels amazed with how neat it is. Smells good too! The other man still has not told him where they are going other than saying that it’s a place special for Suguru and his daughters. The silent because you’re special to me behind that warms Satoru.

They talk as they continue their way, with Satoru learning that Suguru is a native from Osaka, his parents living in the countryside who they occasionally visit during vacation. Satoru also tells him a little about his family, not going directly to the details, worried that it might scare the other man. He tells Suguru that he is from Hokkaido, mainly in Sapporo. They talk about Mimiko and Nanako’s birth mother, a mistake Suguru does not regret, for giving him his beautiful daughters.

Satoru realizes that Suguru drove them up to Shibuya, seeing the familiar buildings. Suguru parks the car in a public parking space.

It is nearing seven in the evening, they walk under the night light. Suguru says that they’re getting dinner at a local restaurant that he frequents with Mimiko and Nanako. When they enter, the  lady at the front greets them and immediately recognizes Suguru.

”Oh my! Suguru-kun, you’ve visited again!” She exclaims, wrapping an arm around Suguru’s waist who does not waste any second to hug her back. The man laughs a little, “Sorry for not visiting soon, oba-san. ” He says. Suguru earns a tap on the back.

”Nonsense! How are the kids?” She asks instead. Suguru smiles at the mention of his children. “They're doing good, they’re already in first grade.” The lady gets excited at that, congratulating him.

Suguru laughs and snakes a hand around Satoru’s waist, who lets out a small yelp in surprise. “ Oba-san, this is Satoru, the twins’ teacher.” He grins.

The lady turns to look at Satoru, who’s a bit red because of the warm hand on his waist.

”Clearly not only Mimi-chan and Nana-chan’s teacher! You look like you’re going to cage him.” The lady laughs at them, and then bows her head, “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Satoru-san, I’m Hinako, the owner of this place.” She says.

Satoru’s quick to bow back in haste, Suguru’s grip on his waist remains. “The pleasure is mine, Hinako-oba-san!” He says.

The lady—Hinako—laughs a little, waving him off. “Come on you two, you must be hungry! Coming from Shinjuku to Shibuya!” She says, walking inside the small, family restaurant. Suguru guides him inside, following the lady, his hand still warm on his side.

They are guided in a private space. Settling down the floor and sitting on the zabuton , and taking off their jackets as they are temporarily safe from the chilly autumn wind.

Satoru looks at Suguru from across from him, he’s using his phone, probably texting someone. “Who’s with the twins?” He asks. Suguru hums, “Nanami. He had babysat them before, so he knows how to take care of them.” He smiles.

Thoughts of Kento with kids flood his mind, taking care of Yuuji, and then Mimiko and Nanako, he’s probably ready to build a family of his own.

”You look gorgeous, by the way, if I hadn’t said it.” Suguru says. Satoru snorts, “You have already said it, actually.” He says. The other male shrugs his shoulders with a smirk. “Well, you gotta hear it again.”

Hinako comes back with their food, who insisted everything is in the house, to which they both disagreed with a promise to pay before they go. The lady only laughed at them.

They ate and talked, grabbing the opportunity to know more about each other. Satoru learns that Suguru took a business course in college, had Mimiko and Nanako at twenty, never had a proper relationship, and a bisexual. His first relationship was a girl from high school, hooked up in college, and had twins. Suguru looks the happiest when he talks about his daughters, it’s cute.

“—then Nanako asked me if I could get her a pet spider because of Megumi.” Suguru laughs, his eyes turning to crescents, the apple of his cheeks red. Satoru smiles, he could listen to him all day.

“Megs practically forced me to get him those spiders.” Satoru mourns, remembering the day Megumi threw a tantrum for the first time in public. Although that was probably the first and last time he did that. Satoru did not have the heart to deny his son’s request, so he gave in and brought two spiders, Kuro and Shiro. Megumi had the knack of naming animals. One time he almost convinced Satoru to get him a parakeet to name them Nue. Satoru, although a little heartbroken because of Megumi’s crestfallen face, did not give in and bought the kid ice cream instead.

“Shoko threatened me that she’ll beat me up when I hurt you.” Suguru chuckles a little, their topic went from talking about their kids to their actual relationship. Satoru feels a little lightheaded, cannot believe he is talking about relationships, commitment.

Satoru laughs, imagining Shoko in her 5’3 glory, smacking the shit out of Suguru who towers her in height and build. “She’s just all bark no bite, don’t get scared of her.” He says, thinking about his best friend fondly.

“How long have you been friends?” Suguru asks.

“We’ve been friends since high school.” Satoru replies, grinning at Suguru’s gobsmacked face. Is it truly shocking to know that Satoru and Ieri have been friends for a decade?

“Really? That’s hella long.” Suguru mumbles, hand on his chin. His long black hair is tied to a low ponytail, a few persistent hairs falling on his forehead. “That’s great to know though, that you’ve had each other’s back since teenagers.”

The white haired man hums, “That’s true.” He agrees.

They continue to talk as they finish their meals, Satoru also learns that Suguru is a few months younger than him and he jokingly asks the other to call him nii-san . Suguru looks perplexed, choking. Satoru laughs a little louder.

When they finished, Suguru pushes the money to Hinako’s son, who’s working on the counter. “She wouldn’t accept it.” Suguru simply says, earning a nod for the guy. Hinako sees them until they’re outside, embracing them before saying goodbye.

“You need to go back, okay?” She says, hands on her hips.

Suguru laughs, “Of course oba-san, I promise to bring the girls soon. Satoru can bring his kids too.” He says. If Hinako was surprised to learn that Satoru also has kids of his own, she did not say anything about it. She simply nods her head with a kind smile, “Of course!” She beams.

They say their final words to her then they’re off. They are walking side by side in complete silence, their hands brushing against each other. Satoru feels electrocuted at the touch, having the huge urge to intertwine their fingers together.

It is when he feels a warm palm on his that breaks from his trance to whip his head to look at Suguru. Suguru whose head is turned away from him, ear in a shade of deep red. Satoru snickers under his breath and tightens their hands, fingers entwining.

None of them speak as they walk to the building of Shibuya Sky, wanting to watch the beauty of Shibuya at night. Satoru was the one to suggest to which Suguru agreed to immediately.

Now they are walking hand in hand.

“Wow!” Satoru exclaims in delight as he holds onto the railing by the edge, eyes wandering below the city lights of Shibuya. Suguru comes beside him, smiling at Satoru. The latter looks at him with twinkling blue eyes.

“This is so amazing! I love it here.” The white haired man says. “Thank you for bringing me here, Suguru!”

“You’re welcome, Satoru. I’m hoping we can do this again?” Suguru asks.

Satoru laughs, “Of course!” He says, looking below again, fascinated with the blinding lights.

“I like you.” Suguru suddenly blurts out.

Satoru’s grip on the railing tightens. Before he can say anything, Suguru continues, “I like you, Satoru. I’m sorry for saying this on the first date but I don't think I can stop myself from not saying it.” He says, the shining lights below and the moonlight illuminates his chiseled face.

Words stuck on his tongue, Satoru grabs Suguru’s hand and pulls him towards him. “Can I kiss you?” He asks instead. Breath fanning over their lips, Suguru does not reply but presses the softest, most tender kiss on Satoru’s cold lips.

“One more.” The white haired man demands, earning a quiet chuckle from Suguru before pressing their lips together again. “We’re in public.” Suguru says in between the tiny kisses they give each other. Satoru hums between their lips. “I don’t care.” And then leans to kiss the other male more.

Suguru’s laugh is swallowed by Satoru’s lips. They press another set of kisses before pulling away eventually, eyes hazy and cheeks painted red.

“Hi.” Satoru says, grinning.

“Hi.”Suguru replies, snaking an arm around Satoru’s middle, pulling the other male towards him. He pecks Satoru’s cheek.

Satoru smiles, presses against Suguru and nuzzles his cheek. They stay pressed for a few minutes, basking in each other’s warmth.

Walking back, fingers curled together again, they engage in a small talk about their kids.

“Tsumiki was the first to warm up to me.” Satoru laughs at the memory, “Megumi on the other hand, was always angry. For a three year old, he was fussy and refused to let me hold him. It took me several months to finally have him in my arms.”

Suguru squeezes his hand, acknowledging his story. He continues, “I knew it was hard for two little kids to let go of the comfort of their previous lives to live with a man they did not know.”

The topic of why and how he became the siblings’s guardian, father, naturally came up. Satoru decides to tell Suguru of what happened instead of learning it from other people who did not know the whole story.

“They were my older brother’s children, Toji.” He says, voice choked at the mention of his brother. He feels another squeeze on his hand.

“Toji was a problem child, if not, a problem of my parents.” He chuckles softly, “The number of times our mother had to go to his school cannot be counted with your fingers. Our parents are both doctors, hoping that Toji and I would follow their steps.” He says, “Toji and I didn’t want to be doctors. He wanted to pursue music, being musically inclined when we were kids. I told him I wanted to be a teacher, and he said that I will be. That he believed in me. Our parents, opposed to that, tried controlling Toji, almost sending him to our grandparents in the States in hope he could change, if he did not run away before everything.” Satoru sniffs.

“He held me that night, apologizing over and over, saying he was a bad older brother, I said he wasn’t. He was the best, he became my support, he became my parent. That night, too, he gave me one last kiss on the forehead, apologized one last time,  and then fled out of the house.” He stops walking and wipes his eyes with his free hand. Suguru helps him, holding his cheek carefully, as if he is afraid to break Satoru.

“That was the last time I saw him for over a decade. The morning after he ran away, our parents were not angry. It surprised me. They only told me not to do it if I wanted to lose everything. I was ten. What shit do I lose at ten?” He asks, voice trembling. “My parents let me pursue education in college, probably afraid that I will run away like their oldest child. Although they were not present in my life, that was fine to me. I finished college, and had my license to teach.”

“Then one night, Toji was at my doorstep, worn out, thin, I could not even recognize him. I held him tight, crying in his arms. He apologized to me again, told me that he was married and had two kids, but then his wife died and he was miserable and could not manage to take care of two children at his state. He introduced Tsumiki and Megumi to me, seven and three at that time, and begged to take them in.”

“I did not have the heart to refuse, took them in and took care of them for my brother’s sake. Toji left despite my insistence to stay with me, with us. He said that he did not know what he could offer to me, seeing my life. I said that I didn’t care. I just want my brother. But he still left. He left me and his kids. Tsumiki was old enough to understand, and cried in my arms all night. Megumi asked me where their dad was, and I didn’t know what to say. Then months passed, I saw our parents, demanding to give up the children. I argued, arms around the kids who were crying, refusing to let go of me. My mother was ruthless, screaming that the bastard ’s children do not deserve to be taken care of by the family he embarrassed. I told them that they do not have a child anymore, cutting himself off from that ridiculous family. They left, never to see them again since then.”

Suguru holds him, letting the other man cry on his shoulders.

“Toji died one year after.” Suguru holds him tighter.

“I have been officially registered as the kids’ guardian for three years now.”

Satoru sniffs, wiping his eyes and nose. “Are you scared?” He asks.

“Of what?” Suguru asks.

“Of my family.”

“No. I’m not scared of them nor you, Toru.” Suguru says, smile not faltering. “If not, this just made me admire you more. For taking care of two children, for staying strong. You’re doing great, Satoru.”

“Thank you.” The white haired man says before crying in his shoulder again. Suguru cradles him, hand rubbing Satoru’s back. They are in the car now, thankfully no one is seeing Satoru’s tear streaked face.

That night, Satoru comes back with a smile, a heart full of love. He softly goes to the sleeping kids, kissing them on their foreheads.

Shoko, who’s already wearing her pajamas, looks at him with a raised eyebrow. “How was it? Why do you look like you cried? Do we beat them up?” She asks, flexing her slim arms.

Satoru laughs at her, “Nah. He was amazing. I like him so much, Ieri.” He says, whining. Shoko snorts, “That’s great. I love that for you.” she says.

“Awww! You do love me!” Satoru says, attempting to give her a hug if not for the arms that pushed him away.

“Stop! You haven’t changed your clothes yet! And do not shout please, I just put them to sleep. You don’t know how hard it was to force them y’know? Megumi kept on asking when you’ll come back, he was so restless. I don’t know what you do to them.” She sighs, rubbing her face.

Satoru grins, “Nothing! I just kiss them good night.” he says before attempting to hug his friend again. Shoko groans, turning around and sprinting away from the tall man. Satoru lets out an offended gasp before following Shoko.

“Welcome back, Geto-san.” Nanami, who’s quietly reading a book on the couch, greets him with a small smile.

“Thanks, Nanami. How were the kids?” He asks, shredding his jacket off and hangs it on the dining chair. Nanami follows him to the kitchen. “They were great, did not cause any trouble at all.” he says.

Suguru nods his head and then he hums, “Thank you for tonight, Nanami, I’ll make sure to treat you soon.” he says, grinning at the now waving male. “It’s really not a big deal, Geto-san. No need to do that.”

He shrugs his shoulders, not replying anymore.

“How was your date?” Nanami asks, sitting down on the dining chair.

Suguru laughs at the genuine curiosity present on his junior’s face. “It was great, Satoru’s nice. I like him.” He admits. Although Nanami looks like someone you cannot talk about feelings and emotions with his big build and tall height, he’s actually one of the few people Suguru trusts.

“That’s nice. Satoru-san is loud, and sometimes annoying, but he’s nice and a really great father to Tsumiki and Megumi. I think you two will be okay.”

Suguru pauses at getting water from the fridge and then he looks at Nanami who’s now busy with his phone. “Thank you, Kento. I think this is the time we both call each other by our first names, no?” He asks.

Nanami actually laughs a little, “Sure, Suguru-san.” He says.

Suguru smiles at the younger male and offers a can of beer which he accepts.

Satoru looks up at the ceiling, lying down like a star on the ground, Shoko  sitting on the couch, watching— judging him.

“Holy shit, you’re gone.” She says, lightly kicking her friend.

Satoru looks at her with a dreamy smile. “Shoko Ieri, I like him so much!” he giggles. He really fucking giggled.

Shoko grimaces, “Oh dear god.” she groans, hiding her face with her palms.

Suguru slurs his words now, Nanami looks amused, who’s still drinking his fucking beer like fucking tea.

“God I li’e ‘im.” Suguru says, coughing a little.

“I think you should go to bed, Suguru-san.” Nanami says.

Suguru pays him no mind, “Oh lord, I lik— hiccup —him.” He is laughing now, head tipping back on the chair. Nanami is contemplating his life right now.

“Ask me what my fav’rite color ‘ight now, Kento.” Suguru grins at him, eyes trembling.

“What’s your favorite color, Suguru-san?” Nanami plays along, curious.

Suguru laughs, leans his elbows on the table. He rests his chin on his palm and gives Nanami a lopsided smile.

“It’s blue.”
