Chapter Text
It’s deep and dark down here, Sun just wants to go back to the surface and feel his name sake and the wind on his casing. Sun sighs as he finishes fixing the wiring he was working on before looking over to Solar who is working nearby, he goes over to him before spotting another damaged part of the underwater cables. Sun groans as he goes to check the damage and growls a bit when he notices it’s something Solar will have to fix, he returns to Solar who gives him a look. “That damage is far out my range of knowledge” Sun explains sitting down nearby as he hears Solar growl a bit too, “whatever keeps damaging these sure is something else” Solar grumbles as he finishes up with his current repair job before turning to Sun “you going to come over with me?”. Sun shakes his head “I’m just going to rest for a bit” Sun explains to Solar who just nods before going over to the damaged area.
Sun leans back a bit but bumps into something, nothing should be behind him. He freezes as he notices some massive lanky hands appear in his vision, the hands seem to curiously brush against him. ‘Surely this is just my imagination! Right?’ Sun thought as he starts hearing a deep rumbling coming from behind him, Sun has started shaking but soon he feels the presence vanish. “Sun you ok? You seem like you’ve seen a ghost?” Solar asked as he rushes over, Sun just nods but Solar looks concerned, “let’s get back to the surface, okay?” Solar spoke as he helped Sun up and lead him to the diving bell. Sun didn’t want to look behind, he was terrified at what he might see. Before Sun could even get to the surface he collapsed.
Sun must’ve blacked out on the way up as he woke up in his bed. “I’m just saying, I think Sun needs a day or two’s rest” he heard Earth speaking outside his room, “Solar, what even happened down there?” Moon spoke sounding distressed, “I have no clue, he sat down to rest while I did one last repair, I turned around and he looked like he had seen a ghost” he heard Solar speak. Sun groans as he tries to stand only to find he felt too weak to even sit up, Sun felt like he hadn’t charged in days, he checks his charge to find his charge is mysteriously lower than it should be, he is plugged in to charge so the problem should be resolved soon. Earth soon comes with some food, “Sun are you awake?” She asks as she comes in, “yeah I’m awake, what happened?” Sun asks as he once again tries to even sit up only for Earth to come over and help him sit up.
“You passed out in the diving bell, Moon and Solar said your battery went critically low” Earth spoke before putting the plate of food in Sun’s lap, Sun slowly eats while Earth helps him every so often, “Sun if you don’t mind me asking, what happened? While Solar was doing the last repair?” Earth gently asks. Sun paused his eating and thinks, “you wouldn’t believe me if I told you, p-plus I probably just got myself worked up for no reason” Sun responded with a small laugh at the end. Earth doesn’t seem convinced but just nods before taking Sun’s plate once it’s cleaned of food and goes to leave before turning around “don’t worry Sun, you’ll have a few days off, Moon will be going down with Solar tomorrow while we both stay up here” she informs before leaving the room. Sun just sighs before laying back down and sleeping a bit longer.
Moon and Solar slowly descend into the deep, Moon is deeply concerned by Sun’s passing out yesterday, he will figure it out but he’ll need to first need to do the job Sun had.
Solar steps out first and immediately curses “fucking Christ”, Moon comes out second and sees why he cursed, something had been chewing on the cables, Solar immediately got to work while Moon investigates a bit. Moon spots something in the distance, just out of view of the light produced by the diving bell but it quickly swam away. Moon grumbles before getting to work.
Sun sighs as he soaks up the sunlight, he is half way charged but he can’t just sleep all the time so he is up and about collecting energy from the sun. He hums a soft tune but soon hears someone humming along with him, he would’ve thought it was Earth but she is inside keeping contact with Moon and Solar and the humming was a deep humming. Sun stopped humming and the humming soon stopped too. Sun looks around before looking at the water and noticing the massive hands he saw yesterday, holding one of the posts that the oil rig stands on, he can’t see what the hands connect to but Sun just stares, waiting for it to vanish like the hallucination it is but instead he hears the humming again, coming from the water where the creature is. The hands seem to try to reach for Sun. Sun screams.
Earth was communicating to Solar and Moon when she heard Sun scream. She almost fell out of her chair. “I’m going to be away from the radio, Sun is screaming!” Earth informs Solar and Moon before she rushes out to see Sun huddled up in a ball while crying. “Sun! Sun! What happened, are you ok?” Earth questioned Sun as she gets to him, “w-water! Big hands! T-trying to get me!” Sun shouts as he keeps crying while pointing over at the railing of the oil rig. Earth places her cardigan over Sun’s shoulders before going to look, she saw nothing, no big hands and nothing trying to get Sun, only some dark kelp stuck on one of the posts. Earth looked to Sun who is sobbing, she sighs before going over to him and helping him up, “Sun there is nothing there, how about you come inside with me and you read some books” Earth reassures Sun as she leads him inside and to the communications office.
