Chapter Text
Dante was already urging Vergil to get through already. “C’mon let’s go see your kid again” Slinging an arm around Vergil. He promptly shook it off. “Don’t make me regret it” He bitterly said as he and his brother stepped through. As Dante arrived in Red Grave smelling the familiar air, he looked behind to see the portal close. And his brother was nowhere in sight.
Stepping out of his own portal, he comes face to face with a cliff facing the seemingly endless sea. Vergil to say the least was… Confused . As his portal closed behind him, he observed his surroundings. It seems that he’s in another world, similar to the ‘Earth’ he’s familiar with, however with some differences. ‘ Another inconvenience ’ He thought. Reaching for the Yamato almost instinctively, but stopped himself. ‘ …This does pique my curiosity. ’ Vergil had said internally. He looked closer at the new world around him, and saw a relatively large city in the distance, surrounded by giant castle walls. He saw his destination in the distance, and started walking.
It was relatively peaceful, nothing disturbed his stride to the city, only things he detected were animals minding their own business. As if he needed food anyways, the demon blood running through him made it so that things such as hunger, thirst, sleep, sex were not as demanding on his body, however it still felt good to have those things due to his half human heritage.
The first time in a while he felt peace, since his journey of being Mundus’s slave, to splitting himself, to fighting the underworld, sparring with his brother, and meeting his son he hasn’t had a chance to find a quiet moment and clear his mind.
Walking down the cliff and getting closer to the city, he detects a disturbance. He then looks to find what it is descending the cliff and dropping down into the valley he gets closer to a group of 6 people surrounding a single person. “C’mon, we know you have something valuable, now…GIVE US EVERYTHING!” “Please take anything, just not…Please… It's a Memento of my Mother, please you can-” One of the men hit her, taking an amulet. ‘ Weak… ’ He stood there witnessing the scene, feeling something familiar within him. ‘ She lacks the strength to even fight, it's such a pathetic sight… ’ Vergil breathed hard as he slicked back his hair, that’s when one of the men had spotted him.
“Hey there buddy, got anything to spare.” Vergil had stood there looking at the scene.. They had Masks covering their mouths with some wearing light beige clothing. One of the bigger ones was carrying a shovel, the other nothing. Two more had Crossbows and were dressed in darker clothing and had a fancier looking hat than one guy with a shovel whose hat was akin to that of a straw hat. The last two had some daggers in their hands, which they were hiding behind their back.
“That's a fancy looking sword you got there, how much mora?” They approached the man with silver hair dressed in black. Vergil looking down at the Yamato said “Pardon me, but I’m not giving away a family heirloom” The Treasure hoarders scoffed at him “And what are you going to do? Cry to mommy and daddy that the big mean bully took your little toy? Hmm?” The group was attempting to surround Vergil, but before the main leader could even give a signal, a single transparent blue blade had penetrated his head, causing him to drop dead on the floor. The others panicking quickly tried charging Vergil. Almost instantly in one swift motion he cut through them, as they dropped dead, before they realized that they were even dead.
‘ ...Hmph, pathetic… ’ Vergil then had the idea of looting them, so he could have something perhaps valued in this world. While looting them he found the amulet, its ruby crystal adorned with silver and upon opening it, he saw a woman he didn’t recognize, before closing.
After robbing them of some gold looking coins, and some strange ‘tokens’ with insignias on them, he approached the woman, who was backed up on the wall, shaking as she looked up at the man before her, his stoic expression giving her even more anxiety but, somehow giving her perhaps a bit of relief. He then reached over and returned the ruby amulet to her, before leaving her alone. She shivered, either from the people that tried to steal from her, or the man who killed them in a quick but fatal manner.
