Work Text:

Itadori often found his thoughts consumed by Megumi, yet the whisperings of the voices in his head tormented him, reminding him of his transgressions. They whispered that Megumi, with his stoic demeanor and guarded heart, would reject him once he learned the truth.

As Itadori's affection deepened, the voices grew louder, their warnings more insistent. "He'll never look at you the same," they hissed. "Why would he care for someone with your tainted past? You're just a vessel for Sukuna, a danger to everyone around you, how could he ever love you truly?"

Itadori desperately tried to ignore the voices, clinging to the hope that maybe, just maybe, Megumi would see past his flaws and accept him. But the voices continued to torment him, painting a vivid picture of rejection and disappointment.

"He'll push you away," they said. "You'll see the disgust in his eyes, the revulsion he'll try to hide. He'll say it's too dangerous, too risky to be with someone like you."

Despite the whispers of doubt, Itadori found himself drawn to Megumi. He yearned to be close to him, to bask in his presence and cherish the moments they shared. Yet, the voices would not be silenced. They taunted him, reminding him of his dark deeds and the looming shadow of Sukuna within him.

"You're a monster," they'd say. "You're not good enough for someone like Megumi. He deserves better, someone untainted by violence and corruption."

Itadori grappled with these conflicting emotions as he spent time with Megumi, never fully able to shake the doubt and fear that the voices planted in his mind. Each time he considered confessing his feelings, the voices would be there, whispering fears and doubts.

"He'll be disgusted," they'd say. "He'll look at you with disappointment in his eyes, wondering how he ever considered you a potential partner."

As Itadori's turmoil continued, it became increasingly difficult for him to hide his feelings and the whispers that plagued his mind.

One day, his emotions bubbled to the surface, and Megumi, observant as ever, noticed the distress etched across Itadori's face.

"What's bothering you?" Megumi asked, his voice gentle yet laced with genuine concern.

A wave of emotions washed over Itadori, his shoulders sagging in resignation. He had tried to keep his fears and doubts to himself, not wanting to burden Megumi with the heavy weight of his insecurities. But now, in the face of Megumi's genuine concern, he found himself unable to keep the truth hidden any longer.

"It's the voices," Itadori admitted in a whisper, his gaze averting Megumi's. "They tell me I'm not good enough for you, that you'll never care for someone like me with my past and this...curse inside me."

Megumi's expression softened, a mixture of understanding and determination etched across his face. He stepped closer, closing the distance between them, and gently lifted Itadori's chin, forcing their gazes to meet.

"Those voices are wrong," Megumi said, his voice firm but filled with tenderness. "They don't define your worth, and they certainly don't dictate what I feel for you."

Itadori's eyes widened in surprise, a mix of hope and disbelief flickering across his features. He had anticipated rejection, yet here was Megumi, standing before him, challenging the very voices that had tormented him.

"You're more than your past and this curse," Megumi continued, his hand resting on Itadori's shoulder. "You're strong, compassionate, and courageous. And most importantly, you're the person I care deeply for."

Itadori's heart thundered in his chest, the voices momentarily silenced by the strength and sincerity in Megumi's words. He wanted to believe, desperately desired to accept the comfort and reassurance Megumi was offering. But the self-doubt, nurtured by the voices, clung to him, whispering that it could never be that simple.

"But you don't know everything about me," Itadori protested softly, his voice tinged with both hope and fear. "There's so much darkness in my past, things I've done. And Sukuna...he's always there, a constant reminder of my cursed existence."

Megumi's grip on Itadori's shoulder tightened slightly, his gaze unwavering. "I don't care about the darkness in your past or the presence of Sukuna," he replied firmly. "I care about you, about the person you are now and the one you're striving to become. Your struggles and your burdens don't make you unworthy. They make you human."

Itadori's eyes widened, his heart swelling with a mixture of emotions. He had never expected such understanding and acceptance from anyone, let alone Megumi. The voices in his head still whispered their doubts, but they grew fainter, their words weakened by the light of Megumi's unwavering belief in him.

"You see the good in me," Itadori whispered, his voice cracking with emotion. "But what if I can't escape this curse? If I can't fully control Sukuna, I may end up hurting you...or worse."

Megumi's hand moved from Itadori's shoulder to rest on his heart, feeling the rapid beats beneath. "I trust you," he said firmly. "I believe in your strength and your control. And if there's a chance you may lose control, I'll be there for you. We'll face it together."
