The kingdom was in full holiday swing, with decorations lining the streets and jack-o-lanterns alighting everywhere. The party walked through the festival, seeing all the stalls and games. Falin practically dragged Marcille behind to take her to the games. The half-elf was trying her hardest to keep herself from falling, holding onto Ambrosia with an iron grip in her free hand.
Chilchuck and Senshi were walking in the back of the pack, hands intertwined. Senshi pointed at all the food stalls and told the half-foot how the best ways to make the dishes were. Laios looked at everything, grabbing the monster-looking decorations to show Izutsumi, who was confused about the reasoning behind the whole festival.
The Tallman noticed her confused expression. He set the decoration down and fully faced her. “Hey, Izutsumi, what's with the long face? Are you not enjoying the festivities?” He asked softly to make sure nobody else could hear him.
Surprised, the beast-man stared at him before sighing, her ears and tail drooping. “I don't know what any of this stuff is. Why are those little creatures running around dressing up as monsters?” she whispered back. Laios was shocked, he raised his arms shouting. “How can you not know what Halloween is!?!?!” Izutsumi immediately covered his mouth, glaring at him.
Laios nodded and put his hands on her shoulders. “I will show you how great Halloween is, just wait, you'll be loving the holiday by the end of the night! But first, we need to get you a costume.” He then grabbed her hand and started dragging her to the costume, much to the rest of the party’s confusion when they realized they disappeared.
The two eventually stopped outside a costume store and slipped inside. It was filled with an array of different outfits and props. From sparkly green dresses to pointy pitchforks, costumes of all different fabrics and textures. Izutsumi was in awe at everything, she wandered around the store Laios behind her a few feet away.
Izutsumi stopped in front of a costume, it was a pirate. It had a hat with holes on the top for ears for many different races, nice worn leather boots, and even a free sword to boot. She immediately grabbed it and showed it to him. Laios had a big smile on his face “Aw yeah a pirate, you'll be the best pirate out there!’ he exclaimed. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and led her to the front desk where they checked out.
Once Izutsumi changed into her costume, Laios clapped “You look amazing, lets show everyone how cool you are!” He snagged a free bag on the way out and the two went back to their friends. The two walked back to the fairground where the rest of the party was playing games. Marcille trying to knock over milk bottles in order to get Falin a prize.
Chilchuck was trying to throw 3 balls into the bucket to get Senshi a new set of cookware they were advertising. Once both got the prizes for their partners they noticed Izutsumi’s new costume. Falin’s eyes lit up, she ran over and hugged Izutsumi. “Aw, you look great Izu!” Marcille walked over a bit later and nodded smiling.
Chilchuck gave her a thumbs up and a nod, jumping up to pat her on the head. Senshi gave her his usual hearty laugh and his two big thumbs up. Laios was beaming “See, I knew they would like it! Now for the best part trick or treating.” The rest of the party nodded and they all made their way back to the house to put on their costumes.
The beastman waited in the living room for the rest of her party, she was very confused yet surprised to see her friends costumes. Marcille was dress as a witch, a large pointed crooked hat, long dark blue dress along with ambrosia. Chilchuck was dressed as a vampire, his large velvety cape tacked up so he wouldnt trip on it, he was also wearing a nice vest and dresspants to go along with it.
Senshi was dressed as a Chef, an old hand-me-down chef's coat on with some cooking equipment in his pockets. Izutsumi could have sworn there was something in his hat, maybe it was something to ask him later. Laios was the most surprising, he came out in looking like an odd robot, it was blue and red, and for some reason he had two fake windows on the front. Along with tires on his arms and legs.
While the beast-man was confused, the rest of the party especially Chilchuck and Marcille burst out laughing. The half-elf wiped a tear out of her eye “Is that seriously your costume?” she questioned the tall man. He huffed and attemped to cross his arms only for the costume being too big to let him.
“Im Optimus Prime! Like the coolest character out there!” He exclaimed to the rest of the party. Izutsumi was still quite confused, Laios saw and quickly started explaining “So basically he's a robot that can transofrm into a car isn’t that so cool!” The beastman nodded still not fully understanding.
Chilchuck coughed “Well are we going to go trick or treating or what?” Laios nodded and handed everyone a large sack. “There now were all set. Izutsumi when we go over to someone’s house we gotta way ‘trick or treat’” he told her.
Once they were all ready they walked out and went down the street to the first door with the lamp on. Laios eagerly knocked bouncing on his heels. The door opened to reveal a middle-aged Gnome holding a bowl of candy. The whole party shouted “Trick or treat!” the gnome gave them a soft smile and gave them each a candy.
“Have a happy Halloween,” she told them as they walked off, the faint sound of a few thanks or thank yous could be heard. Izutsumi dug out her candy and tossed it in her mouth, the flavor was amazing, it was so silky and sweet. It was like she tasted heaven.
They contuied on their route down the neighborhood streets, their sacks getting heavier and heavier as time went on, Chilchuck having to drag his until Senshi threw it over his shoulder for him. Eventually, they walked back home, Izutsumi eagerly dumped out her sack of candy on the ground digging in.
Only a 3 quarters were left when she was done, she had passed out on the couch from how much candy she ate. Chocolate and sugar were smeared all over her face and claws. The rest of the party laughed going their separate ways to enjoy the rest of the night.
Izutsumi hummed in her sleep. It was the best first holiday ever.
