Chapter Text
Carlos x Charles
Today, the announcement was made that Lewis Hamilton would be replacing Carlos Sainz. Carlos was taking too lightly, he had a feeling he was going to leave at the end of the season but he still had hopes. Now it was time for him to go home and rest but of course, his teammate had other plans. Or his boyfriend more like, Charles wanted to be with him. It wasn’t just Carlos who would have to deal with this change, it was also Charles. Losing his boyfriend as his teammate. No matter how competitive they were they still loved each other. Nothing was changing with that. Charles arrived at Carlos's Italy house a few hours after he did, the one hefrequented a lot when dealing with official Ferrari in-town business.
Charles had a small bundle of flowers. He knew Carlos wasn’t always the biggest fan of things like that but he was late going over future events with Fred and wanted to do something for Carlos. The main event would have to wait for tomorrow but now was about making sure Carlos was okay. He knocked on the Carlos door and waited.
Carlos was far from the door, upstairs in his office area going over some paper work for his karting club that had been sent to him to make sure everything was correct. Even if he lost his seat time doesn’t stop. Still more business to take care off. When he heard the faint knock he was confused but figured it had to be one of his boyfriends who had been blowing up his phone but he had ignored them all. He knew they were worrying but they would probably be worse if he texted them back.
He went to open the door finding Charles he raised an eyebrow at the flowers but was caught off guard but being automatically engulfed in a hug from the other. Carlos instincts kicked in and he hugged him back automatically, “Are you okay?”
Carlos was slightly worried, he would expect this behavior more from Lando. When Charles finally pulled back he nodded. “Of course Im okay. Are you okay? You’re the one who’s leaving next year.”
Carlos could see the saddness in Charles eyes so all he did was smile. Smiling would help lighten the mood. “Darling I’m fine, we both knew it was inevitable but at least I’m getting replaced by Lewis.” A chuckle left Carlos lips and he pulled Charles into his house.
“But, still-“ Charles was going to continue before Carlos cut him off.
“Stop.” He closed the door, locking it, and took the flowers from Charles. “Let’s not think about that tonight. You’re here to, I’m guessing, to make me feel better. So I would prefer if we talked about something else.” His accent got thicker as there was a slight agitation growing in his tone.
“Of course.” Charles nodded and moved to Carlos couch to turn on the television. “Movie night?”
Carlos was in the kitchen filling up a vase with water and placing the flowers in it. He nodded, “Sure, did you eat? Should I make dinner first?”
Charles moved so he was leaning on the back end of the couch, the view from Carlos living room to his kitchen was direct. Having a open floor plan, Charles looked at him and shook his head, “I have not eaten yet. I came straight here.”
That means Carlos was cooking, and Charles liked to watch him cook. It was something that was special between them. When all the other were here Charles was the one in the kitchen with him the most. Charles walked into the kitchen and leaned on the counter to watch him boyfriend. Carlos always enjoyed having someone in the kitchen with him even if he never said it out loud.
The silent companionship, or when Charles had something he wanted to tell him he would always just stand to the side and rant. This time Charles was more quite, watching. A few words about how his day went in preparation for the upcoming season. Small talk over the next half an hour until Carlos produced dinner, something simple, pasta. He served it for them and brought it to the living room placing it on the table between the tv and the couch.
The both ended up on the couch, a blanket covering them, plates in hand as Charles put on a movie. First the ate in silence, eating semi separated to make sure there was no mess but once they were done Charles was cuddling into Carlos side. He wanted to be close to him. This was the last year they would be teammates and he wasn’t fully prepared for that yet.
The day there and cuddle, one movie then two. By the third Charles was sleeping but there was no way Carlos had the strength to get them both to his room and he felt himself drifting off as well. So they fell asleep cuddled up in the couch. Carlos pulled Charles into him more and closed his eyes.
They slept peacefully, no alarms for the next day they were free but Charles had a plan. He woke up first, somehow he ended up halfway on top of Carlos. He slipped out of the others hold. Very carefully, this caused Carlos to stir but he still stayed sleep. Charles got up and started cleaning up. He didn’t really cook so making breakfast was out of the question. But cleaning he could do, so he cleaned up and checked his phone to make sure all his plans were set in place. Carlos finally stirred on the couch and sat up. It took him a moment to remember the night.
“Charles?” He called out softly looking around.
Charles couldn’t help but smile, “I’m here Carlos, just in the kitchen.”
Carlos got up and went to find Charles. He walked over to him and wrapped his arms around him. Carlos nuzzled his face into the crook of Charles neck and mumbled something that sounded like a good morning but it wasn’t in English. Charles put down his phone and turned around to see him. “Good morning sleeping beauty. I made plans for us today so it’s time to wake up soon.”
Carlos mumbled something else in Spanish before standing up straight. “Shower.” His voice was low, he didn’t remember taking a shower last night and knew that Charles came straight from the office. It was shower time.
Carlos ended up dragging Charles to the shower and Carlos showered first while Charles ruffled through some of the clothes he left there to find a good outfit. When Carlos came out he was dressed semi casual, with a simple white long sleeve button up and white loose dress pants. He looked up at Charles with a smile as he adjusted his watch. “Is this good?”
Charles gave him a small nod, “yes, it’s good.” Then it was his turn to disappear into the shower. His outfit of choice was of course baggy jeans with a gray shirt and jacket. The jacket was Carlos’s so he lit up almost immediately. “Why are you wearing my jacket, amore?”
Charles looked down at his outfit again and hummed, “It compliments it well, don’t you think?”
“I’m not as much of a fashion guy like you, but I like it.” Carlos nodded and looked him over. “So when do we need to head out?”
Charles checked the time and smiled “Now, so we can get breakfast and go.”
There day started with Charles taking Carlos to a small cafe they often went to when they were in town. It had fond memories and it was small. A spot where they were hardly recognized or bombarded. Then they walked around for a while. Charles just wanted to spend some time with Carlos, let him know he’s loved. They spent most the day walking or doing small pop up events Charles found that he figured Carlos would like.
Now it was time for the final event. Dinner, Charles had of course pulled out all the stops, yes it was still a small cute place but he made sure it was extra homey. Candle lit tables and soft accents. The sun was setting as they sat down. Carlos eyes rested on Charles a soft smile on his face. “You didn’t have to do this you know? I’m alright.”
Charles nodded at his statement, “Just because you are doesn’t mean I am. I’m going to miss you. And I love you Carlos. I don’t want us to have to spend more time away from each other. It’s already difficult enough for us to see everyone in our off times.” A frown was placed on his face.
Carlos understood what he meant. Being around Max, Lando, and Oscar sometimes took work because they were on different teams but now the change would shift more but as long as they were all still racing they would be able to see each other. There was no real reason to stress.
Carlos comforted Charles on the situation and they talked. Laughed and enjoyed themselves. Carlos had almost forgotten to tell his other boyfriends he was alright but Charles had taken care of that. It was a Charles and Carlos day and no one was going to intervene with there time together.
As the night came to an end that made there way back to Carlos house. Showered and found themselves cuddling in Carlos’s huge bed. They talked a little more about the season before they fell asleep cuddled against each other.
Carlos x Oscar
The Miami Grand Prix was over and Carlos had gotten into another race incident with Oscar. It was something that happened semi often. They would find each other on the track and then there would be problems. Even if they were dating, a race was a race and they both want to win, but at the end of the day they were dating and loved each other. At least they knew they loved the other, they hadn’t mustered up the courage to say it to the other. Maybe today was the day? Or so Carlos thought until he was yelling at his race engineer to tell Oscar to give him the place back.
He did not give the place back but that’s okay, because Carlos still ended up in the points while Oscar fell down to P13. It wasn’t ideal but it’s what happened. Even if Carlos was still in the points he can’t shake the feeling of resorting back into the stage where all he and Oscar did was fight. Carlos started talking softly to himself while what he sat on the couch in his driver room. His hands landed in his hands as he heard the door open.
“What was that today?” A voice he knew that voice. He placed it automatically, Oscar.
Carlos decided he didn’t want to participate in this conversation it was already weighing on his mind and this is not what he wanted to deal with.
“You can’t just ignore me. After that fight you put out, and you ruined my car. All for what?” Oscar went on.
Carlos started grumbling to himself and that only made Oscar more upset. So of course he continued. “Carlos, you ruined both of our races in different ways and you’re not even going to apologize or anything? All you can do is blame me? You don’t even care do you?”
Carlos looked at him so fast an anger building in his eyes as he narrowed them at Oscar. He was thinking and then he shook his head, “I really don’t want to argue with you Oscar.”
“You really just don’t care.” Oscar’s tone went from sad to accusatory and his face started to turn. “I thought we were past this.” His voice was barley a whisper before he turned towards the door but Carlos shot up and went to grab him.
“I do care. And yes, I may have had a part to play in what happened today but it is not just my fault Oscar. It takes two to make what happened on the track happen. So you can’t blame it all on me.” His voice was tough. Carlos was still mad and so was Oscar.
“So you’re saying it’s my fault? I thought you were above this Carlos. I thought you actually cared about me, but no all you care about is yourself.”
That had Carlos at a lose for words but, all Oscar was doing was fueling his anger. “You think I don’t care about you? Oscar I love you. So so much.” His hand went to cradle Oscar’s face.
The mix of emotions that flashed through his face before he shook his head. “You don’t mean that.”
In that moment Carlos didn’t know what to do but pull Oscar into him and kiss him. He placed his hands on the other waist. He pulled back for a moment before pushing the others back into the door. He was crowding him in. Not giving him any room to escape. “You’re not going anywhere. I mean that more then you know.”
Oscar was hurt but he cold hear the truth in Carlos voice but he didn’t know what to do. He accepted the kiss but he still had his doubts. He rested his head again the door and looked at Carlos. Head tilted slightly to meet the others gaze. “Carlos.” Oscar spoke softly.
“Oscar, listen to me. You’re mine. I love you.” His voice dropped and Carlos made heavy eye contact. Her moved forward to kiss Oscar again. This time Oscar placed his hands on Carlos shoulders and pulled him forward. The kiss was short and sweet, it turned into a gentle and comforting hug.
It took Oscar a moment to respond but when he finally did it was the soft song of, “I love you too Carlos. So much.”
“Good, now. Now that that’s over, what made you think you could come in here and yell at me like that would be okay? Why did you think that was a good idea Darling.” Carlos asked carefully a slight switch in his voice, he knew Oscar liked when he was teased, sometimes. Now was one of those times.
Oscar gulped and looked at the other finally realizing he was cornered. He thought about his words for a moment and looked away, “Uh- I was angry. I thought you didn’t care about, uh, me.”
He was at a lose for words but Carlos was already a few steps away. “I was mad earlier, not because of our incident, but because I wanted to make sure you were okay. Without trying to be overbearing. Oscar I’ve been in love with you for so long I’ve just been afraid to say it.” Carlos rested his head against Oscar’s and closed his eyes. “You’re part of my world, i wouldn’t be able to live if something happened to you, or any of the others.”
Oscar hummed and pulled Carlos into him again, “I’m sorry.” His voice soft and gentle. “I should have thought through that more. I apologize for also saying that you don’t care. I know you do, especially about me.”
Carlos hummed and put his hands on Oscar’s waist and moved to place his head in the crook of his neck. “I don’t want to let you go.” Carlos voice was mumbled into the others neck.
“Let’s go out tonight Carlos.”
“What about Landon’s win. You know he’s so excited.”
They both had good point. “Tomorrow night.”
“Plane back home.”
“We can do it when we get home.”
“Fine.”
They stayed like that for a while longer. Carlos face was in Oscar’s neck and they were simply holding each other. The night was about Lando but the following day was about them. They talked through there issues and communicated there racing issues towards each other. The others were around but Oscar an Carlos focused on building building their relationship.
Carlos x Max
It was a long weekend for them. It was Carlos's home race and Max had won. He had ended up P6 between Charles and Oscar while Max and Lando needed up P1 and 2. That had Carlos stressed but not as stressed at the fact his boyfriend hadn’t spoken to him all weekend, and if he did it was in groups.
Carlos didn’t know what he had done to make Max not want to talk to him. He didn’t think he was being too clingy or annoying the week before. That put a weight on Carlos and for a moment it probably impacted his race performance and his attitude. He took it out on those around him because it was starting to get to him. Even having a slight public disagreement with Charles.
That led to Charles talking to him and what Carlos thought was a small pity party because the moment he told Charles the other automatically softened. They talked for a moment but Carlos was still mopey. He walked around mopey for a while going to interviews and doing what he had to do. Even now, he tried to go up to Max and congratulate him.
The conversation was brief, Carlos walked up to him as Max was heading into the Red Bull hospitality building. “Hey, Max. Congratulations on the win.”
Max looked at him briefly and smiled, “Thanks, appreciate it.” Then he was walking through the doors.
That made him even more confused. He went through the rest of what he needed to do. Helping the team pack up. When he finally got to the hotel he went straight to Max room, he had the key so he unlocked the door and walked right in. Max was sitting on his bed for a moment his eyes were closed until he looked up spotting Carlos.
“You alright?” Max's face held a smile until it shifted seeing the serious look on Carlos face.
Carlos walked up to him and practically tackled him. He half jumped onto the bed and wrapped his arms around Max. “Did I do something?” His voice was in a small pout.
“What? No, of course not.”
“Then why have you been ignoring me?”
“I-“ Max paused for a moment and frowned. “If I have it’s not on purpose.”
“Eres una perra. I thought I did something, Max.” Carlos whined the entire time and took a deep breath.
Max started at the other for a moment before his frown deepened, “I haven’t been ignoring you Carlitos.” Max added the little nickname at the end, he also brought his hands up to grab Carlos and hug him tightly.
They stayed like that for a moment before Carlos pulled away and looked at Max. “Can I stay here tonight?”
Max nodded his eyes trained on the other. “Yes, of course you can Carlos. Why wouldn’t you be able to?”
The eye contact was heavy before Carlos sighed and looked down. He shook his head before looking back up, “I don’t know.” He left out a soft chuckle before stretching his body and standing up. “Can I use your shower as well?”
All Max did was nod and Carlos disappeared into the bathroom. Max let his brain start swirling in thoughts while he works on autopilot. He had already showered and it was time to make sure all his stuff was pack so he could spend his night focused on Carlos before they left the next day. All of them were traveling together so there was no time difference in there departures. Max set up the bed a little and got some clothes that would fit Carlos placing them on the edge of the bed. When Carlos finally exited the bathroom he made his way out and saw the clothes. Quickly getting dressed he soon joined Max in the bed. They cuddle for the night until they both eventually fell asleep.
Carlos woke up first, Maxs face buried in his chest and his arms wrapped him. Carlos was pleased moving Max closer to his body to be engulfed in his warmth. This motion started to cause Max to stir before eventually opening his eyes and looking up at Carlos.
“How long have you been staring at me?” Was the first thing Max said but he didn’t move away, he actually leaned into the other more. Humming softly.
“Long enough to see how gorgeous you are when you’re not stressing about a race.” Carlos voice was soft as he started to gently rub the othes back.
Max scrunched up his face and shook his head. “Shut up.”
Carlos couldn’t help but laugh and nodded, “If that’s what you want I’ll stop talking.”
That’s that’s how it was, they laid awake together holding each other before Max broke the silence. “I’m sorry for this weekend. I didn’t realize that I was ignoring you. I would never do it on purpose, I guess I’m just getting more stressed about this season.”
They talked for a while, Max let everything off of his chest to Carlos and Carlos listened. Usually it was the other way around but this moment it was about Max. That lasted a few hours until they peeled themselves out of bed and Carlos ordered room service for breakfast so they could stay together in private. They ate breakfast, catching up and talking about how Carlos was enjoying being home and the time he spent with his family while he was there. He was going to have his dad meet him at the airport with his bags so he would’ve have to leave max. The morning was spent in peace, cuddles and breakfast.
Eventually it was time to leave, they took the back exit to avoid most of the crowds and made their way to the plane. They were the first ones there, Carlos Sr had already dropped off Carlos Jrs bags so they walked on after Max gave his to the staff. It was chill they sat and cuddled.
“Carlos I want to take you out, to apologize. Can I do that?” Max voice was soft but he was making heavy eye contact.
Carlos was already looking at Max and he searched the others eyes for a moment before nodding. “Of course. We can go mi campeón.”
Max leaned in to kiss Carlos, it was soft. As the pulled away the others were boarding the plane.
Carlos x Lando
It all started simple with a walk. It was the week of the Italian Grand Prix so everyone was excited, especially Carlos and Charles. Carlos was excited because his birthday was the next day, which was race day. Free practice three had just ended so it was a break time. Carlos needed a moment, and along the way he found Lando. Lando had made P5 in free practice two ahead of Carlos, who left the session at p7. It wasn’t his best but it was a good effort. He was in the top five the last two sessions Lando being in the top three as well but a bit tricky in the last one with both Mercedes on top.
Carlos needed to collect himself, he needed to put his best foot forward tomorrow. Even if he was leaving Ferrari he still wanted to win for them, and fight as hard as he could to help them win constructors. So he was walking taking a breather. His race suit hanging from the waist down his long sleeve racking undershirt. His had his water bottle in hand and was walking when he saw Lando walk out of the McLaren garage. The moment Lando eyes fell on him automatic smile.
“Carlos wait up!” Lando yelled a little in the others direction jogging over to him. His was fit the exact same except it was just his McLaren gear. Carlos smiled softly at the other as he made his was closer.
“Muppet.” Carlos said softly to the other as he laid it over.
“Hey! Stop.” Lando pouted briefly standing next to Carlos before he started walking again. “Where to?”
“I just need to walk, clear my head. We’ve got quali coming up and I don’t want mess it up. The race tomorrow is important.” Carlos voice was calm and leveled.
“So is your birthday. Which is also tomorrow, and more important than any race.”
“I suppose.”
“No, Carlos. I’m serious. What are we doing tomorrow?” Lando grumbled and nudged his arm into Carlos side.
“I’m not sure. We can do anything. After race celebration of course, back to the hotel.”
Lando started tsking shaking his head, “No. we’re all going to go out for Dinner.”
Carlos shook his head and nodded. “Alright, if I’m spending time with you guys I know I’ll enjoy it.”
That made Lando happy, so he smiled wildly and jumped up a little. “Yah! Okay. I’ll text the others it’ll be perfect.” He started patting his race suit before pulling out his phone triumphantly, “I picked it up right before I left. Thank goodness.”
Lando started texting the other while Carlos just nodded and looked over at his boyfriend. After a moment he looked around and grabbed Landos hand ducking between two of the office buildings and behind one. Carlos pulled Lando close to him placing his other hand on his face before leaning in to kiss him.
It was soft and sweet and when Carlos pulled back Lando was blinking his eyes at him for a moment before he started pouting. A chuckle escaped Carlos lips before going to kiss the other again. Landos hands found Carlos waist and pulled Carlos into him more.
When the kiss was finally over Carlos took a breath and, “Joder, Amore.”
“I love it when you speak in different languages.” Lando spoke softly before going to run hand through Carlos hair ruffling it slightly, his phone still in his other hand just laying loosely at the side of his body.
Carlos made a weird sound. It was a mix between a pout and a grumble and it had Lando laughing. “I’m not going to mess it up Carlos. It’ll still be perfect.”
Carlos of course was still secptical pulling his head away from the others hands. “Not today. You can do it all you want tomorrow after the race.”
Lando scrunched up his face but nodded regardless, “If you say so. But regardless,” his eyes scanned the area around them. “why are we over here?”
“Mainly, because I wanted to be alone with you. I’m feeling a little overwhelmed. You know how it is.”
All Lando could do is nod. He pulled the other into a hug and tucked his face into Carlos neck. They stayed like that for a while. Holding each other. It was a nice moment for them.
“Do you want to see some of the pictures I took? I think you and Charles would like them. I haven’t been able to get a moment with him but I know you would like them. Italy is pretty they time of year.” The voice was soft and mumbled because of Landos face placement.
Carlos nodded, “Yeah, of course I would love to see your pictures Baby. Let me see.”
That caused Lando to whine softly and pull his body away from Carlos pulling his phone up and opening it. He started slowly scrolling through the photos he took. None of them lived in Italy, but the only two that semi frequently visited where Charles and Carlos, at least for now.
They stayed there for a while with Lando walking Carlos through the pictures he took before a sigh erupted from Lando, “I miss you.”
“Amore, I’m right here.”
“I mean on the team.”
“You have Oscar. I know you two are having fun.”
“True,” he took a pause, “But I miss how close you were all the time and i didn’t have to just like disappear to spend time with you.”
Carlos thought it over for a few and nodded, “I get what you mean.”
“How do you think Max feels? He’s not on a team with anyone. He’s stuck with Checo.”
“Max is Max, he probably hardly thinks about it. He’s just focused on racing for the week and then after, he remembers we’re his boyfriends and not just his competition.”
“You don’t actually believe that do you? Max isn’t like that Carlos. He knows we exist,” Lando takes moments and looked down, “he cares about us. You have to know that. Even during races. It’s like you’re relationship with Oscar. I know you guys fought after Miami.”
“Oscar said I didn’t care about him-“ Carlos started before he was cut off.
“Like you just basically said about Max.” Lando interrupted Carlos leveling him with a semi-serious face.
A pouting Carlos is not something you always think you’re going to see, but that’s what Lando was currently looking at. He was thinking for a moment before he pulled Lando back into him. “You’re right. It’s just been a stressful day.”
Lando rubs Carlos back gently and they stay there, eventually, they move to the floor to sit and ramble on about their days and plans for the rest of the weekend until they were spotted. Having been gone for longer than both drivers expected Qualifying was nearing and that meant people were looking for them. The one who finally found them was Landos race engineer. Will.
“What are you boys doing out here? It’s almost time for quali you need to get back to the pits.” He started at them in shock before walking up to them and ushering them, “We have to go. Let’s go.”
Will ushered Lando and Carlos back to the main strip. Nudging Carlos in the way of Ferrari and tugging Lando along with him. When Carlos finally got back to his pit everyone started trying to ask where he was and if he was prepared but he just had a smile on his face and took a deep breath, “Everything is fine.”
Charles looked at him from the corner of his eyes and shook his head. When Carlos got the one of the tables he picked up his phone and checked it, the first two messages that caught his eye, one from Lando which was more recent,
Lando: We will continue our conversation later, Carlos.
And Charles from just over fifteen minutes ago. He smiled and texted back Lando, before putting his phone down and getting ready for qualifying.
Carlos: Alright Lando, don’t do anything stupid.
