Sera & Molly’s Autumn Day

Chapter Text

Emily nervously paces down a brightly lit hallway. Her eyes glance occasionally at a set of engraved doors. Inside of it her sister, the High Seraphim of Heaven, Sera, was toiling away relaying God's messages throughout Heaven and Earth.

'That is her purpose', Emily thought to herself, turning away from the door in her pace. 'To interpret His words and spread them! I really shouldn't bother her with something outside of her tasks...'

She turned again as she reached the end of the hall. "But it's my task to fulfill this... request from the human soul. I should at least entertain her desire!" The grey angel decided as she came up to the door again.

'Yeah... I'm sure Sera will have... SOMETHING to get out of it, and we'll never talk about it again!' Emily took a breath, and opened the large doors of Sera's office.

Emily entered the large room, that resembled an impossibly vast and bright library, with shelves so high there seemed no ceiling, filled with light blue, silver, and golden books & furniture. Sera was floating about two stories high, focused on a long golden scroll in her hands that fell all the way down to the floor in a heap. Emily made a small coughing noise to get her attention.

"Ahem... Sera?" The tall seraphim had eyes suddenly appear all over her body and looked around her for the voice. She then peered down and softened her gaze at Emily, her extra eyes closing and disappearing on her body.

"Emily?" She gently flew down to her level, long dress hovering from the floor. "What are you interrupting my reading for? Has something happened?" Her brows furrowed in worry.

"No, no! Nothing bad has happened! It's just," Emily looked around awkwardly. "You see, I, er, have a sort of request..."

"Then whatever information you need to fulfill it, will be given, my dear." Sera motioned towards the acres of bookshelves behind them.

"No! No, it's not-" Emily took another breath. "It's a request, for you! Sera!"

She paused for a moment. "...From who?"

"...A human soul that I take care of- BUT! It's nothing to worry about, not a big deal, really-"

"Emily. Who are they? What do they want?" Sera cut off the shorter nervous seraphim, frowning.

"Her - her name was 'Molly'. She said that her desire was to, and I quote, 'Spend a whole Fall day with the High Seraphim Angel visiting the Harvest Festival'"

Sera had a look of bewilderment grow across her face. Her thoughts began to race. 'What could- how could- WHY would-'

She looked at Emily with conviction in her voice, and ordered her to bring the winner to the court tomorrow morning.

Molly was swiftly walking up the holy courthouse steps, her four legs carrying her with ease. She paused as she opened the door into the busy lobby, bustling with angels. Emily was coming down behind her, wings flapping. Molly grinned as she held the door open for the tired seraphim. They cut through the crowds, which began to dwindle as they walked into hallways.

"Oh, I'm so excited, Emily! I was worried my request be denied, but here! I! Am!" Molly did a small twirl as they went.

"Mm hm, yeah..." Emily awkwardly responded. Molly looked at her with concern.

"You're usually so... excited about us winners and our gifts but you've been acting a bit... off. Did I ask for something, wrong...?"

"What! Ha, ha... no, it's fine! Your request isn't, wrong, it's just... a bit... inconvenient. And awkward.  And strange since you 'technically' have no way of knowing her."

"Oh! I didn't mean to disturb her! But you are the one who kept complaining about-"

"Oh, look! We're here!" Emily cut her off as they arrived at the court, hurrying through the large twin doors

In front of them was a large orb in the middle of the room, illuminating the walls with its golden glow. Behind the orb was Sera, who Molly slowly looked up at, drinking in her features. Her slender, tall form, with greyish brown skin adorned with white freckles, and long cascading white curls that flowed from her head. Sera raised her eyebrow at the tiny pink spider winner.

"So... I presume this, spider angel, is the human soul who requested me?" Molly felt her already pink cheeks flush.

Emily chimed in. "Yes! This is Molly, a very goodly soul you'll have no trouble with, I'm sure!"

Sera looked down at the pink angel, despite her short stature her hair was large and baby pink, with matching antennas on her forehead. Her four legs nervously tapped below her as Sera gazed.

"Hm. We shall see." Sera motioned towards Molly’s hand. "Come here to the orb, and state your wish. Say it honestly and truthful." She had a small smirk on her face as Molly skipped to her. Taking Molly’s hand into hers and pulling on her finger to unglove it. Molly then placed her hand onto the orb, feeling it's comfortable warmth spread from her hand throughout her body.

Molly closed her eyes and thought about her wish and why she had asked it. She then spoke aloud, "I want to spend a whole autumn day doing fun fall things and visiting the old harvest festival from my childhood. And," she opened her eyes and peered at Sera, "I want the Seraphim Angel Sera to join me."

The orb glowed a bright burning gold, and a rumble was felt throughout the room. All three angels then focused their sights on a similar bright glowing door that wasn't there before, manifesting on the wall beside the entrance.

Sera’s small smile slowly slipped off her face as she saw the door grow. Her eyes wide, she looked at Molly, then the glowing door, then at Molly again.

"But, I mean, oh my..." She murmured under her breath, realizing that she, in fact, will have to spend her day pleasing a random winner angel.

"How wonderful..." Sera grouched.

"Oh! Yes... wonderful." Emily mumbled.

"Yes!" Molly already skipped to the door and opened it, gazing at an old apple farm that closed when she was a child. "This! Is! Wonderful!"
