Work Text:
Osamu jolted up from the message. Suna was coming over but now of all times? It didn’t help his current situation with Atsumu. The nap didn’t do anything to alleviate the headache either.
Suna might be his friend but he liked him after all. And he didn’t look presentable. He wasn’t fully awake and his hair was all over the place. Osamu was just full of bad luck by chance, especially today! Suna didn’t live that far to begin with.
In his groggy state, he removed the covers from his body and climbed out of bed.
Osamu felt himself slipping more and more into a bad mood. He didn’t even bother to look presentable like he was worried about beforehand. His entire goal was to avoid Atsumu for the time being.
He made it to the kitchen just in time to hear knocking. Osamu knew just who it was by the sound of it. As he made his way to the door, he rubbed his eyes. The tiredness never faltered.
The opening door revealed none other than Suna Rintarou. Shocking enough for Osamu, Suna didn’t look presentable. It’s like he just knew he never had to impress him.
“Hey, thought you needed company,” Suna said, letting himself in.
“How’d ya guess?” he asked, yawning.
“You know I have my ways.” That made Osamu smile for the first time that day. “I wanted to talk, if you’re up for it.”
“Got nothin’ left to lose,” Osamu shrugged. He saw the way Suna’s face fell in his peripheral vision.
He sat on the couch waiting for Suna to join him. It was annoyingly nerve wracking. Why now? He couldn’t even figure out how to answer the question. This wouldn’t have happened if Atsumu wasn’t so petty.
“Osamu?”
He hummed in response to his name. They were just staring now. The sharpness of Suna’s green irises never failed to terrify him. Situations like this were the worst of all. Osamu could feel the rapid beat in his chest and ears. It was embarrassing, what if Suna heard it?
“I want to be as straightforward with you as I can,” he began, “I can only hope you’d do the same.”
He felt himself nodding along. “Osamu, how long have you liked me?”
There it was, the dreadful question. He knew the answer but the words wouldn’t come out. Completely tongue-tied. Suna sat beside him patiently, no rush was needed. Osamu quite liked that.
One breath, in and out, “Maybe durin’ our first year of high school.”
The silence that came after didn’t help. Osamu could feel his guts twisting in fear. Suna’s only purpose here was to make him feel bad. That’s all it was right?
“When were you going to tell me?”
Wrong.
Osamu lifted his head, “Huh?”
“I mean, I thought I was obvious. I act differently around you,” Suna shrugged.
“Oh-h,” Osamu felt himself stuttering. Suna let out a breath, it sounded like a laugh.
“I guess I was just oblivious. You should expect better from me.”
Osamu hasn’t trusted his voice for the majority of this conversation. He felt bad that he couldn’t say much. If anything, this was the right time to say what he needs to.
“Rin—” he saw the softened expression on Suna’s face after saying his name. It rolled off his tongue like it was meant to. “— I love ya and I’m sorry it’s taken me so long t’ say. I wish I was able t’ tell ya before Sumu went off. It doesn’ feel as special.”
“That’s where you’re wrong,” Suna butts in. Osamu raised a brow. “I don’t care if Atsumu ‘told you’ for me. He’s not the one saying it to my face is he?”
Osamu felt himself burn up, “N-No.”
“Exactly. Yes, he’s an asshole for doing that to you but guess what?”
“Hm?”
Suna leaned forward and planted a kiss on his cheek. “I’m yours now. I love you, Samu.”
Osamu was more than flustered now. He felt as though he couldn’t move. That didn’t stop Suna from lightly turning his face and pressing their lips together. He was able to move again, allowing him to bring Suna in a little closer. To taste the guy of his dreams and feel him in every way. Right now, he was satisfied with the outcome of that stupid thread.
Suna parted from the kiss first. He laughed at the way Osamu chased after him. His finger was pressed against them.
They’re staring again. This time, the sharpness doesn’t scare him, it welcomes him. Suna seemed to be taking Osamu in. Just to be plucked on his forehead.
“Ouch! What was that for?” Osamu cried, turning and rubbing the affected spot.
His hand was removed and replaced by another kiss. He could feel himself heating up again.
“Honestly, I wish you told me sooner,” Suna told him. “But it’s never too late.”
They both smiled at that comment. Osamu took the initiative to wrap his arms around Suna’s waist. Suna then pushed himself into Osamu’s lap. The couch was big enough for the both of them to lie on. But they ignored the extra space, wanting to be as close as possible. Osamu found himself wanting to kiss every part of Suna now that he had him. That’s what he would do starting from his face.
Suna’s comment had a point. This was just the beginning.
