Work Text:

Grocery store runs are terrible and expensive things.

You forget half the items you need as you stroll your shopping cart across various isles filled with costly garbage.

All of the important items are located at the very back of the store to tempt you into buying a self-drying towel- which is just a towel- as you make the journey there.

And lastly, most horribly, you accidentally spill the milk jug all over the floor, counter, and cashier when trying to give it to said cashier and lean seductively on the counter while making small talk about his job and your lack thereof. That was in order to impress the unimpressed cashier-who doubles as an underpaid teacher for the local preschool and who would double better as your for hire boyfriend- when checking out while he scans the seventh butter stick.

Aventurine knows this struggle well, especially the last part, and as such prepares tactically with a numbered list of items deemed essential to the run.

This list is their story.

-half wheat bread

-cheddar cheese slices

-peach snapple

-Ratio's mayonnaise

-toilet paper

-new forks

-wine. please. wine.

-very light pink lipstick (misty rose I think)

-spaghetti

-ravioli

-spaghetti

-eight sticks of butter for the bathtub

-bacon

-Any semblance of self respect.

-Dignity, also.

-tomatoes to throw at the cashier

Notes:

Hey, long time since I wrote this, but it has eaten at my heart that I just straight up forgot to mention the idea that the pink lipstick line is because, after (possibly) years of staring at Cashier Rendition Dr. Ratio’s lips Aventurine has deduced the color of his lipstick and has thus embarked to buy it for a gift to a man who he has really mainly silently handed his credit card to. Which is insane, but what isn’t in this crap-post? Anyway, whoops for wasting your time.
