Chapter Text
Far away, so far away in the universe, was a planet called Nurebos. For those who have visited this planet, all they would say about it is that it was full of darkness, the shadows would be moving. They feared for their lives while there, and would be quick to leave, unable to stay there any longer. But the planet was truly beautiful if you knew what to look for, how to look for it. It was a planet that was shrouded in only the light of the two moons above it. Giving it the eerie glow. The planet itself was almost midnight blue, the glows from the moons making it seem a little brighter than normal.
And the creatures of this planet, they too were beautiful. Standing tall and proudly. Their skin was a shade of blue like that of a lapis. Their eyes were a silver that shined whenever the light of the moons would hit them. Their hair was a shade that was much darker than their own skin, with hints of silver highlights. They were able to travel through the shadows. They were powerful, trained in the art of combat as well. They called themselves the Haunted.
A whirring could be heard throughout the distance of the planet, the locals stopped what they were doing as they heard this strange noise. They were quite used to visitors but they have never traveled like this before. And right there, in the middle of the street, a blue box started to materialize. After the strange blue box became solid, the door opened and a man stepped out of it. He was quite a funny looking man.
He was dressed in such odd clothing, far to many layers as well, and none of it was covered with amour. His hair was a mess of curls falling to his shoulders. His eyes were a blue that twinkled with excitement as he looked around from where he stood, a smile on his face.
“Wonderful! This is new! Never been here before! Say you!” He points to one of the locals, the smile still on his face. They pointed to themselves, looking at the strange man that appeared in the even stranger box. The strange man nodded, “Yes! You! Tell me, what planet am I on? It is very rare that I come across anything new and exciting as this!” The local stepped towards the man and said, “You are our home planet, Nurebos.” If it was possible, the smile on the strange man's face seemed to have gotten even bigger. “Nurebos you say? Well then! You must tell me everything there is to know about this wonderful place!”
That surprised the locals so those who do come to their planet don't stay for long, far too scared to learn anything about it or about them. “Oh! How rude of me, I never told you my name! I'm the Doctor!” He holds his hand out for a hand shake, the smile on his face never wavering. The local was still so surprised by this strange man who introduced himself as the Doctor. The local grasped his hand in a firm shake and said, “My name is Celatain, Doctor. May I ask, Doctor Who?”
The Doctor laughed and said, “Just the Doctor.” Celatain only shook her head before pulling their hand from his. “Well, Doctor, what is it you like to know about my home?” The rest of the locals went about their business as the Doctor asked Celatain all kinds of questions about the planet and race. From how to tell who was gender, which Celatain said was by skin tones while showing the difference, telling him that she was a female.
She told him how they were able to travel in the shadows, giving him a demonstration of it, stepping into the shadow of a building in front of him before appearing in the shadow of a building beside him. She took him on a tour through the street market, showing him the different kinds of food they had, letting him try some of them, enjoying herself as she watched him make faces at quite a few of them. She took him to the training ground, letting him watch the training that was happening. “Why is it that they train?” The Doctor asked.
Celatain hummed before she answered, “Because it is what we do, it is what we have always done. No one knows the answer. Only the Seerwatch knows why. For they were the one who started this.” The Doctor looked at her, “You mean there has only been one watching over you all? For how long? How do you age? How old are you?” Celatain chuckled at the questions.
“We are an old race, I am unsure of how old the Seerwatcher is but I am but a teenager. Though I suppose in human years I would in my early 20s?” She thought for a moment, taping a finger against her chin. A chuckle broke her out of her thoughts. “I'm not a human, dear girl. Far from it actually, though I know looks can be deceiving.” Celatain looked him over, tilting her to the side, “Well what are you then, if not a human?”
“I suppose I am what others have called a god, a keeper of time. I am a Time Lord, dear girl. Though I am still pretty young.” Now that had Celatian confused, “A Time Lord? But what are you doing all the way out here, and not on your own home planet? I thought Time Lords didn't like interacting with other species they thought were below them?” That caused the Doctor to laugh, throwing his head back.
“Oh! I am what you would call a rebel. Stole on my ship back there.” Celatain shook her head, “There is no way that the small box you came in is a ship. It looks far too small!” The Doctor smirked and started the walk back to his ship. “Well, come with my dear and find out just how much of my ship, is a ship.” Celatain only watched his back before jogging to catch up with him, the both of them walking back to his strange box.
“My ship is called the TARDIS. Stands for Time And Relative Dimension In Space. She can travel anywhere, anywhen.” The TARDIS starts to come into sight as they get closer. “What do you mean by that?” Celatain asked. The Doctor chuckled and looked at her with the same twinkle in his eyes that he had when he walked out of his ship. “It means I can travel to any planet anywhere, to any point in time. Just gotta be careful, me. Don't know where I could be getting myself into.”
Celatain only shook her head, not believing anything that was being said. They made it back to the blue box and the Doctor opened the door, waving his hand for her to walk inside. Celatain stepped inside but stopped, a gasp leaving her mouth as she looked around the ship, turning small circles.
“But..how?” The Doctor walked in behind her, chuckling as he did so, closing the door. “Even if I were to try and explain, I wouldn't do a good job. Just know, it's bigger on the inside.” Celatain still couldn't believe what she was seeing. She opened the door and ran out, circling the ship before running back in. “This is…I don't have the words for this.” The Doctor leaned against the console as she looked around. Celatain finally turns the Doctor, “How does it travel?” That one question seemed to make the Doctor as he was suddenly bouncing around the console, the doors to the TARDIS closing.
“I suggest holding onto something, the ride can get a bit bumpy!” Soon, the TARDIS started its travel into the Votrex, knocking her riders around inside her. Celatain had a death grip on the railing as the Doctor was holding onto the console with a smile on his face, looking from the time rotor to Celatain.
Soon, the rough ride was over and the Doctor walked over to the doors, throwing them open. “Come take a look, child.” Celatain let go of the railing and walked over to the open doors, gasping loudly as she saw what was before her eyes.
It was all of space, stars glittering across the sky around her. She felt like she was able to reach out and touch the stars with her bare hands. “This is amazing Doctor!” There was childlike glee in her voice. The Doctor looked at her, seeing the fascination in her face as she looked out, “You could come with me, you know. Travel all over and see different stars, different planets.” Celatain looked away from the stars to look at him.
“I wish I could, Doctor. But my place is with my people. The Seerwatcher says something is going to happen soon and they will be needing all of us there to do it. To do what, I do not yet know.” The Doctor nodded and closed the door, a small frown on his face but he knew that not everyone who wanted to, could come with him. “It is quite alright, my dear. I too should be going home.”
The Doctor started bouncing around the console again, setting the coordinates for Celatains home. After a few minutes, the TARDIS landed with a bit of a rumble, knowing the Doctor and Celatain off their feet and into the rugged grating under them. The Doctor started laughing, causing Celatain to laugh with him. After they finally got their breath back, they stood up and the Doctor walked Celatain to the door, opening it.
“Thank you, Doctor, for showing me.” The Doctor gave her a nod and smile, “Of course, my dear. Who knows, maybe the next time I come here, you could travel with me then.” Celatain smiled and nodded, “Yes, I do believe I would like that. Till next time, Doctor.” With that, Celatain walked out of the doors, the Doctor watching her leave before closing the door and walking back to the console. “Alright old girl, let's go find out why the High Council keeps bothering us.”
With that, the Doctor set course for his home planet, Gallifrey.
But little did these two know, that it would be a very long time before they saw each other. Each of their own home planets going to war, within itself or with another race. Battles will be fought, blood will have been shed, tears will have dried, pain will be remembered. But everything in the end will be worth it, right?
