Work Text:
The TV glowed in front of them, blaring the loud screams of an actress.
Stu threw his head back against the couch and cackled, his chest shaking. “Oh man, how stupid could she possibly be?”
Billy chuckled and slapped Stu on the shoulder, “Just like every other girl in an average horror movie, right?”
Stu nodded and wiped a small tear from his eye, returning his attention back to the TV. It was a stereotypical chase scene- not particularly scary, but the killer suddenly popping up made him jump.
Not that he was scared. He loved watching these types of movies. Unoriginal as they were, they were still quite fun to watch. Maybe he jumped from the horrifying thrill of the scene…
Whatever it may have been, Billy tapped him on the shoulder and leaned in, smiling.
“Do you need to hold my hand, Stu?” He teased.
Stu tensed up and his face immediately soured. “Awh, fuck you, dude.”
Billy laughed and put an arm around his shoulder, still grinning.
Stu returned his smile. He felt slightly surprised by the sudden closeness, but weirdly didn’t seem too bothered.
Billy kept his eyes on the TV, but he still spoke to Stu directly. “Do you think we’d survive in a horror movie? Or do you think one of us would die in the other’s arms?”
Stu rolled his eyes but his smile only widened at his words, “You know, that’s weirdly specific. Do you want me to hold you, or something?”
Billy muffled a laugh into Stu’s shoulder in response, grabbing his shirt.
“Maybe I do. You wouldn’t mind that, would you?” He chuckled again and laid his hand on Stu’s head.
Stu felt extremely weird. Why in the world was he doing this? Not that he didn’t mind…
“You know, Stu..” Billy pulled away and paused the movie, leaning back and resting his head on his hand.
“I really do like you. You’re fun to hang out with.”
Stu blinked in confusion but leaned in, cocking his head to the side. “What, is this some sorta love confession..?”
Billy laughed and leaned back further, slumping over the armrest.
He kicked his legs onto Stu’s lap and crossed them.
“Maybe, maybe not. I just wanted to say it.”
Stu shook his head and let out a small snicker, sinking into the couch. “Well, whatever you mean by it, I guess I feel the same, deranged as you might be…”
Billy sat up and simpered at his comment. “I love you too, Stu!”
Stu rolled his eyes and pushed Billy’s legs away, sliding off the couch.
“I wanna watch something else, you got any ideas of what would be good?” Stu walked over to the TV, glancing back at Billy.
Billy leaned his head back in thought, a hand on his chin before he gave a wide smile. “Maybe we could watch something with a bit more action, maybe something that gets you really scared.”
Stu only gave him a questioning, slightly annoyed look.
“Don’t be so callous, I just want to comfort you.” Billy brought his arm up to cough into it, but it sounded more like a strained giggle.
Stu shook his head and turned back, pulling the tape out.
“Whatever you want, man.”
He threw the tape out behind him, smirking in triumph as Billy let out a small, pained groan.
“You’re such an ass…” Billy huffed, but his eyes were filled with amusement.
Stu grabbed another tape after carefully studying each one on the shelf, shoving it into the slot.
He sat back down and couldn’t help but grin as Billy moved in closer again, starting his long wave of snarky comments.
Man, he was so stupid… but Stu didn’t mind. Not one bit.
