Work Text:
It all started approximately one week ago.
Akaashi was studying in his usual spot at the campus café before his next class, as he’d done since the start of school. It is not the ideal place to study since it was quite noisy, but with an hour in between classes, it was the closest. The coffee was okay too and a decent price. Anyway, he was studying and felt eyes on him, instinctively he looked up. Once he made eye contact with the person straight ahead of him, he froze.
The person who was staring at him didn’t look away, they also froze. The guy, was handsomely adorable. His cheeks went pink from getting caught. White and black hair spiked up, it reminded Akaashi of an owl. Finally, his eyes. His golden eyes seemed to pull Akaashi in a trace. He couldn’t look away. After a few seconds, the guy smiled, brightly, before turning away from Akaashi and back to the group he walked in with. He soon left and that was that.
Or so Akaashi thought.
Everyday since then, the stranger had come into the café, alone or sometimes with friends. Each time looking around before he spotted Akaashi. Each time they made eye contact, he would smile the biggest smile. Akaashi can’t say he doesn’t look forward to this moment everyday. He makes sure to get there just in time.
Now back to the present, where Akaashi is now having a full on conversation with said stranger. He doesn’t even know how it got to this point.
It had been like any other day, the stranger comes in, spots Akaashi, Akaashi looks up and the make eye contact, the stranger smiles and orders, then leaves. He always leaves. But today, Akaashi is staring at the handsome stranger closely seated in front of him. He’s telling Akaashi a story about the volleyball team he’s on. Akaashi can’t help but share a soft smile while listening to the stranger, who now has a name. Bokuto Kōtarō, a junior in college, and on the volleyball team.
Bokuto introduced himself before asking Akaashi if he could take a seat, the everything bloomed from there. Akaashi introduced himself and they both smiled. Conversation flowed so naturally, as if they’ve known each other for years, rather than just meeting five minutes ago. Bokuto eyes seemed to sparkle and Akaashi couldn’t help but look at him fondly. If anyone were to look at them from outside, they would believe the two are long time lovers.
“Akaashi you should come to our next game! I can get you tickets!”
“I’d love to Bokuto-san,” Akaashi smiled.
“You’re really pretty Akaashi.”
The first time Akaashi heard that. He doesn’t get compliments often, and doesn’t know how to respond in these situations. Bokuto must’ve noticed and just said, “you don’t have to say anything. I just thought you should know,” before sharing a shy smile.
Akaashi blushed and just nodded. And the conversation went on. More laughs being shared between the two.
Is it love at first conversation possible? Maybe it was even love at first sight.
The hours passed and they two were in the exact same spot they started in. The two would sometimes pause and just stare at each other before one or the other started it up again.
Akaashi knew this was his first conversation with Bokuto Kōtarō but he felt as if it’s happened before. He doesn’t know how to explain it. They’re laughing, and smiling like if they have before, but who knows where or when.
