The Start of Something New

Summary:

After the rather. . ..messy failure of a planned date with Roxanne, Sun wants nothing more than to distract his mind with some movies. But one orange and black face pops up again.

A small one-sided chat between the two was oddly needed. Sun may have a friend now, even if Eclipse sees it in a different way.

(takes place after the Roxanne date episode but before Glamrock Chica's introduction)

Work Text:

It's surprisingly easy to slip around Bonnie. Stepping just quiet enough through one of the side doors and hiding behind one of the various fake plants actually worked pretty well for Sun.

He wasn't really in the mood to be all cowardly and hide from a stupid rabbit, but he's also wasn't in the mood to argue or try to prove his innocence to a walking brick wall. He's already been shot, yelled, hit, and even spat in the span of maybe an hour at most. Though the last one may have been an accident because Freddy sometimes does that when he talks. It's still gross.

Sun's fans were already fairing up faster than usual, shoulder joints tense, and his hands clenching and unclenching in hopes to sooth hostility. Sun can't get angry over something like today. Even if he did, all they'd do is laugh or tease him. One of those stupid "You're talking too loud!" or "He gets upset over every little thing!!". Which Sun does not! He only gets upset when all they do is ignore or bully him. His rays picked up, poking in and out of his head.

Soon, his steps lead him to the theater. It was empty, thankfully. Sun could always watch a movie. Something nice and kid friendly and sweet as he chokes out a pillow and pretends it's Bonnie. Yeaaaaa. That would be nice.

He surely couldn't watch anything in the main theater room. That could attract eyes. Eyes that would only make Sun's day worse than it's been. The last thing he needs is some annoying face trying to downplay his own emotions.

Sun decided maybe a few of the older Barbie movies would be nice. The princess and musketeer movies especially, where he can imagine being in her shoes. Imagine defeating the big bad in his life and getting a happy ever after. Maybe get a handsome prince or beautiful princess in the end.

Alone to watch whatever he wants is so needed.

"Just great."

Sun flinched a bit harder than he'd like to admit when a voice called out from one of the set up bean bag chairs, nearly dropping the movies and stuffed animals in his arms.

Once noticing the familiar orange and black animatronic however, Sun pushed a good amount of anger back. Recently, Eclipse has been rather calm too. Not really going out or causing problems like the past few months. Surely he meant nothing bad.

"Ah, hello, friend!! Wait. .. why are you here?" Despite the frustration moments prior, Sun couldn't bring himself to snap or let his tone stay rude when talking to the other. Something about seeing Eclipse in general had slowly began to put Sun at ease. Odd considering all the stuff Eclipse has done before. But at least the discontinued animatronic is open about how he feels. He admits to his feelings and doesn't beat around the bush or purposely try to play innocent when caught in trouble. Being so open and honest helped Sun's nerves more than probably intended or realized. Sun doesn't have to worry about overanalyzing someone like Eclipse to figure out any true motives or emotions. Eclipse wore his metaphorical heart on his sleeve, but never used it as an excuse. Sun liked people like that. Simple and to the point but not easily falling into what was happening or assuming much outside of the initial 'oh you're my replacements grgrgr'.

Sun watched Eclipse fidget with something on his wrist, just below the friendship bracelet. Upon further look, the upper part of Eclipse's wrist had oil stained bandages rather sloppily tied around his shell.

"It's weird seeing you all out in the open. Like, in the light and not peaking through the vents or in the corner of my eye, probably planning my downfall or something." The movies and stuffed animals were forgotten about as Sun instead plopped himself down on bean bag chair closest to Eclipse. The latter didn't move, but a scowl formed on his face for a moment. It was odd how Sun found himself drawn to Eclipse. Even if he's being glared at.

Eclipse mumbled something inaudible before speaking up. "Your little moon counterpart ran off to find that irritating fox, so no security. I needed a break from all the-"

"The dust?"

"Yes. You two seriously need to deep clean. It's disgusting."

Eclipse eyed the plush guardian in Sun's lap with a mix of faint curiously and repulse. He knew what it was designed after, actually having met one of those creatures a while back when Bryce first created him and occasionally used to drag him into stupid missions or 'jobs' for no pay. Nasty things that bugged his entire system out for weeks on end.

But he paused when he felt Sun's head drop onto his shoulder. Yet again, any contact Sun brought down was soft, almost hesitant. Sun's body still tense as he held the stuffed guardian close to his chest. The distance between them smaller with Sun practically leaning right into Eclipse's side. At least there was still some space instead of completely trapping the discontinued daycare attendant.

Neither said anything for a good minute.

Sun staring down at the stuffed toy he shifted in his hands. Eclipse was ready to shove the other off as hard as he could before-

"I feel like Bryce is actively targeting me. Or more so the entire place." Sun began, much to Eclipse's clear, annoyed groan. But the silence afterwards let him continue.

"I mean, i took Roxanne out on a date today -well, more so asked if she wanted to get ice cream- and it was aaaallll fine and dandy until we got to the carnival. Does Bryce really own a whole magical carnival? I didn't know he did but Bonnie said otherwise. He said the whole thing is part of that paranormal work Bryce does. I don't like that. He ruined the whole day. And then Foxy was brought in."

Eclipse found himself listening. Not caring really, but still listening. He hadn't seen or spoken to that useless detective since he was put into storage, outside of being hunted for destroying that dingy little 'pawn shop' the moment his system started back up and pulled him into consciousness. But hearing that Bryce may be watching and sabotaging his workers sounds like something he'd do. Eclipse still remembers some of the stupid 'pranks' Bryce would pull on him before being sent into decommission for a few petty crimes. Again, don't let Bryce say otherwise. No doubt that jerk finds joy in making his workers suffer and panic. Guy barely gives them attention as is, let alone anything peaceful unless said worker was either in a contract or was picked out as a favorite.

"Sounds like he hasn't changed."

Sun held the plush closer. "I won this when I was out with her; The only good thing from the whole trip. With everything that happened, I'm not sure i even like looking at it now."

It was odd. As much as Eclipse should be absolutely ecstatic that one of the pathetic replacements who took his job is moping and complaining about how he hates that lackluster detective, Eclipse didn't feel happy. It wasn't sympathy by any means either. He's way better than that. It just felt off that it was Sun of all people. The same guy who was all rambling in his ear a while back about wanting to hang out and 'be the best-est of best friends' is now leaning against his shoulder with the most depressingly dumb body language able to be created. Like a dog left out in the rain, or those 'try not to cry' challenges he's seen Moon have Sun watch to note down just how empathetic the brighter attendant was compared to the scientist. It went on for hours.

Though anyone with a brain could easily see how the two animatronics differ emotionally. One was at least easier to handle than the other.

But then an idea struck. While there could be so, so many ways to mess with the entire Mega Pizzaplex and get back at Bryce, Eclipse had missed the one way that was literally right in front of him. Or, well, right at his side. It wouldn't be a fool proof-plan by any means. Yet, if he could force the two closest animatronics apart then he could really have some fun with future decisions. To draw such a harsh line between the two, or even gain a little spy on his side. Sun already had a fair bit of power despite how he's treated. Someone who, while clearly not treated well, is trusted enough to be near any invention or building Bryce and Moon created. Able to travel anywhere without being questioned or supervised. That could disappear or ask any questions without it being seen as suspicious. Sun already doesn't understand much about friends, so he'd no doubt do whatever is asked if it meant making his 'friend' happy. To not be alone again.

.

.

That actually could work.

First, however, he needed to keep himself on Sun's good side. No matter how much he'd rather completely block out the overly-hyper animatronic. To save himself the headache.

With a sigh, Eclipse turned his attention to the stack of movies Sun left by his feet. Clearly the sun animatronic planned on ignoring his problems as usual in favor of watching overly sweet children's movies until he either powered off automatically or willingly. Anything to pass the time he supposed.

". . .. How about a movie night? To get your mind off it?

That caught Sun off guard. He instantly sat up, eyes blinking owlishly at Eclipse in shock. "Huh-?"

"You have all those," Eclipse motioned to the stack. "You clearly wanted to do something with them."

A switch flicked. Sun perked up almost instantly, rays twitching. "Waitwaitwaitwai- You watch them with me?? Like hang out together???"

For the first time that day, Eclipse saw Sun's eyes light up. Not literally, as they were painted on, but his tone shifted to something far more hopeful. Something excited.

Sun was practically bouncing in his bean bag chair in wait for the response. But spoke again before anything. "Oh oh!! We can go to Moon and i's room! There's a biiiig tv that Moon doesn't let me use when he's around, but if he's out with Foxy then i won't get in trouble!"

As if struck by a sugar rush, Sun shot up and gathered the movies in his hands, shuffling through the all similar, saturated pink covers. "I've seen most of these but i dunno if you have. Maybe we start with the oldest and work up? Or, or! Start with my favorite and let you pick from them! Not to brag but i have preeeetttty good tastes."

Oddly enough, seeing Sun get back to rocking on his heels, jingling and on the verge of yelling in uncontained anticipation put Eclipse at ease. Unabashedly ramble about some generic movie plot that Eclipse only half-listened to. It almost made Eclipse smi. . .... .

Yea, no.

This is purely a plan to further the chaos in the Pizzaplex.

Eclipse isn't going to be all buddy-buddy with anyone unless it benefits him, obviously. He doesn't need 'friends'. He's far too intelligent for that. And he certainly is too intelligent and lone wolf-ish to feel a sour taste in his voice box at seeing something softly click against the cast cover of Sun's wrist. Two bracelets shifted and rolled around; One, Eclipse noticed, that shared a color palette of orange and black beads mixed with fire charms, with a poorly painted over sun charm at its center. The paint already showed signs of chipping and poor concealment. Not that Eclipse thought Sun even knew about. The other bracelet made Eclipse's eyes narrow. Blue and white beads with several spun about star charms, all with a crescent moon charm in its center. It made his face twist ever so much with disgust.

His expression was swept under the rug in favor of Sun waving around some '12 dancing shoes' or the like. "Oh, oh!! We can start with this one! It was my first one and it's sooooo fun!" Sun placed his free hands against his faceplate with a sugarcoated positive sigh. "Ahhh memories."

Sun bundled all the movies in his hands, rocking on his heels with the jingle of his bells in wait.

It surely couldn't get much worse than now. Really, Eclipse wants nothing more than to lie or say he has something else to do. To not entertain a plan that may not even work in the end, making all the effort null.

Yet.. . . seeing Sun all bright and cheerful again made him pause.

Eclipse gave in and took the guardian plush from the bean bag chair that Sun forgot about in his sudden joy. He settled it under one arm and motioned Sun to lead the way.

Maybe he can at least get some peace. A simple gesture that could lead into future favors.

He can work with this.

Notes:

feel free to ignore if yall want, hence why its at the end!! /gen ^_^
i just wanna ramble a sec-

its kinda hard to watch some of their videos ngl. maybe its just cause im a high empath, or that i relate/find comfort in any form of Sunrise/Sundrop, but all the constant degrading and bullying puts a pit in my stomach bleh,,
it just feels so,,,, ,, idk?? hostile??? malicious???? it feels gross watching sometimes with how little Sun and his entire character is treated, even if its fake/staged 3

like, i didnt even get half-way thru the Glamrock Chica episode cause she's, not only one of my fave glamrocks that got butchered to a mean stereotype, but with how the entire cast treated Sun and the joke of no one caring/worried that he 'probably ran into traffic'- like hello?? even the videos of them playing games or 'Fazgang' stuff kinda reeks of the same behavior,,

long story short: idk how much of new videos ill watch so if i write more Sun and Eclipse and the lore doesnt match with certain videos then thats why FEHSB
i just want them to be friends,,,
