It’s a Kitsune, don’t you think?

Summary:

Clover had done it. He murdered the entire Underground… but one being can’t stay dead, at least not permanently. Having lost absolutely everything and everyone, Ceroba had no choice but to go to the surface. She didn’t plan on getting attached to a lonely boy with no powers but a very powerful SOUL.

Chapter 1: The surface.

Chapter Text

Clover had done it. He had achieved vengeance for those poor children who were unjustly killed by Monsters. He looked at the pile of dust that used to be the King of Monsters and took the SOUL that was floating above it.

He walked to the Barrier and stomped his foot. The Five Human SOULS appeared in their Containers. One by one he released them and left the Underground.

Somewhere in the Underground, where the Sand mixed with Monsters Dust, a pile of Dust had randomly set alight in black and crimson flames.

The Flames grew higher and higher until they reached a certain height and disappeared. In their place was a Tall Fox-like Monster wearing a White and red kimono and had their hair tied up in a ponytail by a ribbon with a bell on it.

This previously dead Monster was Ceroba Ketsukane. She was one of the few Monsters that actually put up a fight against Clover. She had fought with a Vengeance only matched by Clover. For Clover had Murdered the one person she had left.

Oh God.

There was no one left.

She was Alone.

Hell she was only here because she wasn’t Actually a Monster in the same sense that her friend Starlo was. She was a Kitsune, a mythical creature that couldn’t permanently die. While everyone else was a Monster made of Hope and Magic.

She couldn’t live in the Underground anymore. It was completely empty and would soon run out of resources. She had to go to the Surface.

The only Problem was that she couldn’t go up there as herself, she had to use a different form. She eventually decided on the form of a regular Fox. Better than a homeless woman who randomly appeared one day.

She had been wandering the streets for about two weeks before finding a boy being beaten by some school boys with Quirks. Judging by the uniform, they all went to the same school.

She had learned about Quirks from humans talking about theirs to others. Apparently humans had evolved to have superpowers without having to use their SOUL power. It was really interesting!

Although having power did not mean they could abuse others with it. She had to help the kid, he may be human but he was a child that refused to defend himself.

She could just leave but if she didn’t help him she wouldn’t be able to forgive herself for another’s grief. She knew the pain of losing a child and she didn’t want to wish that on anyone.

She trotted over to the three boys that crowded the lone boy.

Time to make amends for her mistakes.

Midoriya Izuku was trying so hard not to cry but unfortunately he was his Mother’s son, meaning the tears flowed out and rarely stopped. It hurt so much.

Kacchan and his friends were really being mean this time. They cornered him in an alley and started beating him up and insulting him. Why couldn’t he stop crying? He was 14!

Then the pain suddenly stopped.

He opened his eyes to see why they had stopped, and he saw why. A tall, menacing Fox woman had taken Kacchan’s friends by the throats. She growled. Then she crushed their necks with ease.

Their lifeless bodies were still lying on the ground. Kacchan’s eyes were wide but what surprised him more is that he didn’t actually care that two of his classmates had just died and that him and Kacchan were probably next.

Then the fox lady waved her hands over two glowing heart shaped things that emerged from the bodies and a miracle happened, the boys were breathing again.

They took one look at him and the Fox Lady and ran. Kacchan looked back at him for longer and faced the Fox Lady before slowing backing away from him and leaving as well.

The Fox Lady had come closer and was now kneeling in front of him. She slowly lifted her paw over his body and all of the injuries faded. Why was this woman helping him?

“Are you alright kid?” The Fox Lady asked.

“Y-Yeah! I’m okay!” He said, not too sure why she was asking.

“Good. Now why were they attacking you?” The Fox Lady asked.

He hesitated. “They think I’m an easy target because I don’t fight back.” He said.

“Well then why didn’t you use your quirk?” The Fox Lady Questioned.

Ah. There it was. That ‘amazing’ question that will probably make this Fox Lady abandon her care. After all she clearly had a quirk. He didn’t and she would probably see him as lower than him.

“Well… I’m… Quirkless…” he said, expecting the woman to leave him to his own devices to slowly die here.

There was a noticeable pause in the conversation, so he checked to see if the Fox Lady was still there. She was still there surprisingly but what was interesting was that she looked very confused.

After a few minutes the Fox Lady spoke again, “I’m sorry but I just can’t figure out what Quirkless means and why humans would bully you for having it.”

What? How could she not know that a quirkless person was? Had she been living under a rock? And why did she say humans instead of people?

“I do not know what a quirkless person is because My entire race were imprisoned in a mountain for centuries and I just got out and I said humans because I am not human.” The Fox Lady said.

Oh.

Well he should probably explain the Quirkless thing then.

“Okay, so being Quirkless means that you do not have a superpower like most people and that also means you are lower than everyone else.” He explained.

The fox Lady sighed.

Ceroba didn't think it was possible to be more disappointed in humanity but apparently humanity had to be more discriminatory. So she just sighed. Then she decided to take this kid in or well have the kid take her in and exchange a roof over her head for protection from anyone who dares to hurt him.

She had to ask the kid first though.

"Hey kid... how about this, I can teach you how to fight and protect you, myself if you let me live with you." she offered.

The kid seemed to think about it for a while, probably debating the pros and cons of this agreement. It was a smart move on his part honestly she could secretly take advantage of him if she was truly malicious. She may hate humans but she would fight them fairly by admitting that those were her intentions.

“Alright. Deal.” The kid said.

“Ok now what’s your name, kid. I’m Ceroba.” She said.

“I’m Midoriya Izuku.” Izuku said.

She then changed back into a regular fox wearing a red ribbon with a bell on it and they walked back to Midoriya’s House. When they got to the house, Midoriya’s mother appeared talking about how worried she was because of how late he returned home.

“It’s okay mom, I was hanging out with Kacchan and his friends.” Izuku said.

“Okay. Now could you tell me why you’ve brought home a fox?” Izuku’s mom asked.

“Well I was hoping to get her registered to be my emotional support animal for my anxiety…” Izuku said.

Izuku’s mother smiled softly.

“We can try Izuku.”

“Alright after doing some courses and tests we know that this fox is legible for becoming an emotional support animal, all you need to do now is sign a few forms and you’ll be able to have this fox as an emotional support animal.” The guy said.

After signing the forms and putting in the necessary information about Izuku on the paperwork, it was Officially confirmed that Ceroba was now his emotional support fox!
