Their heart felt heavy in their chest.
When did Rui get so friendly with the maids?
It’s only been a few days but he was already on a first name basis with them. Mai was the maid he was talking about, she was a pretty girl. They had a feeling he already flirted with her and possibly all the other maids as well.
It bothered them. It really really bothered them. If they were being completely honest they were jealous, and they knew it.
It was an ugly feeling that they just couldn’t seem to shake, even when working with Edward. ‘With’ Edward was a little generous, it was more like, Ed slept and they worked. The vampire man was somewhat good company, but his words nor the case could cure their ails.
They found it silly almost, with everything going on they still found time in their heart to be jealous that Rui was flirting with the other maids here.
[Name] flopped down on their bed after a long day of work. They had taken the maid uniform off and now wore a loose fitting shirt that was comfortable and cozy enough to fall asleep in. The night tasks were strange, and took a lot out of them. It was nice to come back to a warm bed and fall asleep.
Tonight though, they couldn’t. They just kept thinking Rui and Mai. They wouldn’t blame him if he up and swooned her over.
The one consultation in their mind was his curse. He can’t fall for a regular human girl because of his curse. Though that meant the same went for them…
A knock at the door pulled them from their thoughts.
“[Name]~! I heard you were feeling down. I wanted to check on you.” Rui’s voice comes through the door. The honor student walks to the bedroom door, opening it for the blond man, meeting his gaze. “I’m fine Rui, you don’t have to.” They smile at him, but he doesn’t buy it. “Don’t give me that, I’m smart enough to know you know.” He closes his eyes and his hand meets the side of his head. “Now what’s wrong?” His eyes opened, landing on [Name].
They reluctantly let him into their room, the two taking a seat on the big plush bed provided by the manor. After a few moments in thick silence [Name] speaks up, “When did you get close with the maids?” Rui seems to stop, processing what they had said. It takes him a second but he quickly realizes what their concerns were about.
“It’s work, you shouldn’t worry about it.” He leans in but makes sure to keep his distance, his eyes softening. “Here, I have a secret to share with you, but you mustn't tell a soul.” His voice soft and he raises a gloved hand to their mouth, carefully he leans in and kisses the back of his hand imagining as though his hand wasn't there between their lips. He quickly backs away, taking his hand with him.
“Have I cured your ails?” Mindlessly they nod in response, shocked by what he did. “Good, then I’m going to go to bed before I get caught.” He stands up and heads to the door, “Remember not a word.” He holds his finger over his mouth like he was motioning to stay quiet and winks before leaving.
