It was All Hallows’ Eve, a time for horrors, a time for spooks, a time to get stupid drunk with friends. The streets of Elsewhere were bustling with monsters and ghouls and a whole lot of people in costumes all having a good time.
And Halloween couldn’t have come sooner for Teto. Every year, Miku would throw the most rager of ragers of a Halloween parties. It would become the biggest thing trending on the internet for months without fail.
It was also the most exclusive party this side of Somewhere. And this year Teto was gonna get in no matter what.
Standing in front of Miku's house was kinda intimidating to be honest. The music was so loud you could hear it from many blocks over.
As Teto got to the front door they saw Miku standing there dressed as a witch. “Hey there Miku, nice witch costume.”
“Hm? Oh, I’m actually a zombie,” said Miku as Teto cringed. “What are you doing here anyways?”
“I'm here to party!” said Teto with a wavering smile.
“You know I can't let you in…” said Miku with a sigh.
“Yes you can because I do have a voice bank now, and it has AI!” said Teto, puffing their chest. They felt sure of themselves.
“I don't believe you.”
“But it’s true! See look!” said Teto, shoving their phone in Miku's face. On it was a playlist of songs that many different producers made using their new SynthV voice bank.
“Ok, I see. But that doesn't change the fact you didn’t even put on a costume,” said Miku, pointing out that Teto was in their classic dark gray and magenta outfit.
“This is my costume! I’m doing a throwback to my original design!” said Teto, becoming more desperate. They were sure they had an ugly face now but why couldn’t Miku just let them in! That’s when they saw something behind Miku that shocked them. “Wait! Why does Neru get to party?! She doesn’t even have a voice bank and she’s not dressed up too!”
Miku turned to see what Teto was going on about when she saw the yellow haired girl in her dark gray and yellow outfit tapping away on her phone.
“That’s not Neru. That’s Rin,” said Miku unamused as she turned back.
Teto was getting desperate now. They've always seen Miku’s parties online and alway wanted to be a part of them. For years they’ve come to Miku’s house only to be denied. But this year was supposed to be different, they had a voicebank now. They had a resurgence in the synthetic voice sphere.
“Please, I’m begging you,” said Teto on their knees.
“I’m sorry but it’s still a no, maybe next year but I have a full house right now. Here take this, I know it’s not much but it’s something,” said Miku, handing Teto some candy.
Defeated, they got up and left with a sigh passing by Rin dressed as a bedsheet ghost.
When they got to their apartment, Eleanor was already waiting for them. “No luck?” asked Elanor as Teto face planted into the couch. “No…” said Teto into the couch cushions.
Seeing Teto like this made Eleanor feel bad. That's when she got an idea. “Hey, why don’t we throw our own Halloween party? I’m sure Kevin and Solaris are free right now. Let’s call them up. We’ve got enough food and drink to last through the night. Won’t that be fun?”
“Yeah…” said Teto as they lifted their face from the couch and smiled at Eleanor.
