Chapter Text
Seungcheol pushed open the cafe door. The soft chime announced his arrival, and his eyes instantly searched for the familiar face. There, perched on a stool like an ethereal being, was Jeonghan. With his silky long hair that danced with the breeze from the open window and eyes that sparkled like stars, Jeonghan was a magnet, pulling Seungcheol closer against his will.
Seungcheol had been enchanted by Jeonghan since their first accidental meeting weeks ago. It was like smelling a flower only to discover it had been blooming inside his heart all along. Their connection deepened through shared laughter over cups of coffee, playful debates about music, and their propensity for people-watching. Seungcheol often found himself in daydreams of them together, his heart whispered that they were destined to be.
However, unknown to Seungcheol, Jeonghan was not the innocent dreamer he seemed. At the core of his mesmerizing charm was a clever strategist—a self-proclaimed matchmaker who reveled in the art of orchestrating encounters. He had seen Seungcheol's interest from the start and found it amusing to play the role of fate. Unknown to Seungcheol, the universe's little nudges were merely the consequence of Jeonghan's careful plans.
Seungcheol recalled the first time their paths crossed in the quaint little café at the corner of Maple Street. He had thought it was mere coincidence, a delightful twist of fate. But in reality, it was all part of Jeonghan's carefully orchestrated plan. Jeonghan had noticed Seungcheol long before Seungcheol noticed him. There was something about Seungcheol's genuine laughter and kind eyes that intrigued Jeonghan. So, he devised a series of seemingly random meetings, ensuring that Seungcheol would never suspect a thing. Each encounter was meticulously planned. The "accidental" bump at the bookstore, where Seungcheol's favorite novel just happened to be in Jeonghan's hands. The unexpected meeting at the concert, where Seungcheol could have sworn the crowd parted just to bring them together. Even the shared umbrella on that rainy day, which Jeonghan had strategically positioned to happen just when Seungcheol would need it most.
During the quiet moments between them, Jeonghan felt an unwelcome warmth growing inside—the spark of genuine affection he hadn't anticipated. Seungcheol's laughter lit up the dark corners of his mind, and though he reveled in their pretense of fate, he found himself wishing it were real.
As weeks passed, Seungcheol could feel the weight of his emotions at the forefront of his mind. He had fallen hard, but he needed to know if Jeonghan felt the same. There was a dance to his heart—a rhythm that pulsed each time Jeonghan's hand grazed his, each time the world faded in the backdrop of their connection.
One evening, as the sun dipped behind the horizon, painting the sky in hues of pink and gold, Seungcheol found himself articulating the thoughts he had held in his heart for far too long. They sat side by side atop a hill, the city sprawling beneath them like a tapestry of lights.
"Jeonghan," he began slowly, trying to find the right words, "I think I might, no—I'm sure I'm falling for you. I can't help but feel that we—"
Jeonghan's heart raced as he cut in, "Feel like we're fated to be with each other? Everything that's happened—us—feels like it was meant to be." His voice was steady, but the tremor in his heart contradicted his demeanor.
"Exactly! It feels real. It feels like—"
"No." Jeonghan interrupted again, this time with a shake of his head. "What if I told you none of it was accidental? What if I told you that all these encounters were planned by me?" He chuckled at the absurdity.
Seungcheol turned to Jeonghan, confusion etched on his face. "What do you mean?"
Taking a deep breath, Jeonghan confessed, "I wanted to meet you. To get to know you. So, I created opportunities. The drinks, the concert, the accidental meet-ups—they were all my idea. I thought it would be funny, but somewhere along the way, I—I fell for you too."
Jeonghan's head lay low all throughout the confession. He feared to look up to see the man who he had now fallen for, look heartbroken over his actions.
When he did raise his head to meet the opposite's eyes, he did not expect to see a wide smirk on his face.
Jeonghan was dumbstruck.
"I knew that you're a mastermind. Well, now you're mine." He whispered in Jeonghan's ears.
Jeonghan's face turned happy as though he were a child who had just been offered his favorite candy.
"You knew that I'm a mastermind. And now you're mine."
Yeah, all you did was smile. 'Cause I'm a mastermind.'
