Nestle-Bear

Summary:

Banjo invites you over to hang out while Kazooie and his sister are away. You two don’t have any big plans, so you laze around on the couch together. That’s the fic.

Notes:

VERY self-indulgent writing to be honest. Had fun with this and went with the flow as a warmup (it’s been 4 days and I just finished it now)

Also tried highlighting his Texan accent a bit (DKR opened my eyes to something I didn’t even know he had)

Work Text:

You walked along the road of a low valley. The sun was blinding your eyes as you started to walk over to a simple looking house in the middle of a vast field, the nature flourishing. You were visiting your boyfriend, Banjo, who invited you over. You walked over to the door, but before you could even knock, it swings open with a bear in yellow pants and black belt wrapped around his waist in the doorway.

“Hey, (Y/N)! Glad to see ya here!” He was grinning, waving at the you. His fingers anxiously and excitedly tapping the door.

“Banjo! Hey!” You smiled. You opened your arms and started pulling him into a hug, which he immediately helped himself to with a bear hug. He hummed happily, squeezing you in his arms. It was a tight but warm embrace. He let you go, but not after you lightly pecked his nose. After that, a smile could not be wiped off his face, a light blush was on his cheeks.

“So, how’ve you been?”

“I’m okay.” You nodded. “Things have been pretty slow.. how’s everything with you?”

“Calm… just as I like it!” He hummed. “Oh! Sorry, I shouldn’t clog up the doorway! Come on in!” He stepped out of the way, gesturing for you to enter. You chuckled, making your way in as he shut the door. The house felt a lot more empty than it usually did. Things were definitely more neater, too, because the floor was much more clean and there were no signs of soda can and pizza boxes on the floors. You decided to get yourself comfortable (removing any coat or shoes you have and setting them on the racket or near the door), and walk around. He sheepishly followed behind you as you looked around the room.

“This place looks a lot neater.” You say as you sat yourself down onto the couch, minding his bag nearby.

“I decided to clean up before ya came.” He replied, taking a seat next to you. “I didn’t want you to make yourself at home in a garbage bin.” He rubs the back of his neck.

“Don’t say that! It wasn’t that bad.”

“(Y/N), I don’t think Kazooie leaving all of her soda cans out and spilling one of them on the couch wasn’t ’that bad’..” He scratched the back of his head.

“Well… yeah, that did happen but-“ You did come unannounced no thanks to the fact their phone line wasn’t working to double check you were still on to come over later. Before you could properly explain that, you paused, glancing around. “Speaking of Kazooie, where is she?”

“She decided to go with Tooty on an adventure.” He explained, wrapping his arm around your shoulder. “I felt like staying home, n’ I thought I could spend time with you while I do that!” He smiled, his eyes giving you a glance.

“Yeah, that would be nice.” You nodded. After all, you don’t need to go anywhere special to have a good time. Banjo leaned to reach the table, picking up the remote with his paw.

“Let’s see if there’s anything good on…” he mutters, beginning to flick through the channels that were playing idly a few moments ago. You laid your head onto his shoulder, your body slumping slightly to his side. Banjo’s head perked up, tilting to look at you while you got comfortable. A smile went on his face as he had a small idea.

“Mind if I getcha more comfortable?” He spoke in a more softer tone.

“Oh! No, I don’t.” You shook your head curiously. He briefly set down the remote while turning to you. He shifted himself to lie back onto the couch, relaxing his head onto a pillow. He soon motioned for you to come over. You shifted closer, Banjo closed the gap of distance by pulling you over. You let your head lean onto his chest, your own arms wrapping around him. The two of you relaxed there for a moment, your bodies still in place. The only thing really moving was Banjo’s free arm, which went to pick up thee remote again. The tv was still flickering through the channels. The brief noise of talking, moving, music, all switching by in seconds with clicking audibly heard. You couldn’t tell if he was really gonna pick something or if he was simply zoning out at whatever he was doing. You didn’t mind it, for now, anyway.

“Found it!” He managed to settle onto a channel. “This is something good!”

“What’d you put on?” You looked up at him.

“Uhm..” He flicked up on the remote to see. “Matrix!” Banjo chirped.

“Nice! Have you seen it before?”

“Nope!”

“Wait, you haven’t seen it yet?? How do you even know it’s good??” You raised an eyebrow.

“I just heard it’s good.” He shrugs.

“…Fair enough.”

You just decided to stay relaxed on his chest and enjoy. Things were simply fine as is, and plus, you’re cuddling a bear! How better can things get?

“Oh, before I forget!” He held up one finger. “I have some butter-popcorn bags in the cabinet! Would you want to make some?”

And things got better.
