Chapter Text
Belphegor knew exactly what he was doing, coaxing that sweet little naive mc into opening the attic, how could he not? It was that stupid sheep’s reason he was up there, all alone with nobody but his own thoughts and whatever stupid books Lucifer brought up to him.
He barely even ate the food Lucifer served him, hearing him sigh whenever he finds the food he gave Belphie still sitting in the floor where he put it, only tiny bites in it and if Belphegor felt especially disrespectful he would spit it out on the plate besides it, he’d rather starve then eat from Lucifer.
‘You have to eat some day, you know, I care about you despite doing this.’
Lucifer would say, it was absolute bullshit to Belphegor, Lucifer really didn’t care about him in Belphegor’s eyes and if definitely seemed like Lucifer really didn’t care about him as he stared at MC’s limp body, unmoving from where it landed after he threw it. Belphegor felt satisfied he did it, maybe without that sheep he could go back to what he was doing before, which wasn’t much but it was before all this happened-
Smack!
Suddenly Belphegor felt his face stinging and the ground as he fell backwards, the sound of everything came afterwards and he wasn’t even sure what happened for a moment, only registering after he reached to touch his now slightly warm cheek, feeling pain on the area.
Did… did Lucifer just slap him?
Belphegor couldn’t believe it, sure, Lucifer got mad at him but he never physically hit him before. Belphegor looked up to see his brothers, to stop Lucifer from probably murdering Belphegor where he sat, some staring back to check on MC.
Belphegor felt his eyes well up with tears, he couldn’t remember the last time he cried infront of his brothers, well, he WAS technically the ‘baby’ of the family, especially without Lilith and remembered stories of them a long time ago of his brothers getting upset at one another if they made him cry but he grew out of that!
In his thoughts he could faintly hear one of his brother’s voices, he couldn’t pin point who but they seemed mad.
They seemed to be screaming at him, though it seemed all the noise was drowned out by his own thoughts and he didn’t know when he started to run, he just knew he scrambled up and started to book it. He didn’t even know if was out of fear of what his brothers would do to him or them seeing him cry out like a child.
He heard some calling out for him, though it was probably Beel, maybe even Asmo but he didn’t care, he ran out the door, and just ran, he was sure he untransformed by now and was just running, crying, he didn’t even know where he was going but he ran until he believed he ran long enough for them not to find him for a good few hours.
He was somewhere in the middle of the woods, well, he probably disturbed most of the life here with his presence alone but it would do, it still sounded nice in here… Belphegor supposed.
Belphegor sat down by a tree after looking around to make sure he wasn’t too close to the house and sighed, out of exhaustion, sadness, and the disappointment he didn’t grab his pillow, oh well, it was probably some stupid gift from one of his brother’s anyways, he didn’t need it nor did he need them anyways.
He could live here, sure, he’d die of starvation after a couple days but he was fine with that, he was serious about rather dying than seeing them after all.
Belphegor closed his eyes and yawned, all that running made him tired, he couldn’t explore more after a quick nap…
“Belphegor! Belphegor wake up!”
Belphegor heard a voice and he groaned slightly, nearly forgetting he ran away and didn’t want to be found, he opened his eyes to see Diavolo right there infront of him, looking at him with a mix of relief and anger, probably something else but Belphegor didn’t waste any time, practically scrambling up and running away, ignoring the fact Diavolo was calling his name.
Though he couldn’t run far, king of Devildom for a reason, as Diavolo teleported in front of him and nearly made Belphegor run into him, he didn’t even realize he had started to cry again until Diavolo offered him a handkerchief.
“Belphegor, calm down a bit, yeah? Um, your brothers are worried and are looking for you, don’t you wanna-“
“No! And get away from me! I don’t want to go home and I don’t want to see you or my brothers, after all YOU’RE the reason I was stuck in that stupid fucking attic! YOU’RE the one who wanted to bring that dumb sheep here, how about you go do their little funeral then get back to me, yeah?”
Belphegor said, mocking Diavolo’s ‘yeah’ as he walked past him and started to walk away again, though not after snatching the handkerchief, he hated him but he wasn’t going to sit here with tears running down his face until his sleeves were wet enough to make it look like he was in the rain.
Diavolo was silent for a moment, like he was trying to control his anger, see? Everyone was mad at him even if Diavolo’s pretending to be happy Belphegor could see through it.
“Well… do you at least want your shoes?”
Diavolo questioned as he held up Belphegor’s shoes he left at home and Belphegor paused before he grabbed the shoes roughly and put them on, he forgot he wasn’t wearing shoes when he ran out, adrenaline was pumping too hard.
“Now leave me alone, I want to be alone.”
“Fine, if you want that I won’t force you back but they miss you-“
“Who told you about all this?”
“I’m sorry?”
“Who told you I ran away and practically begged you to help find me? Bet it wasn’t Lucifer.”
Belphegor explained, he just knew they were mad at him, though he’s sure that Diavolo wouldn’t have helped find him without someone.
“… it may or may not have been Beelzebub, Satan, and Asmodeus, though I promise they all miss you-“
“Sure, that’s what they all say, now go, shoo.”
Belphegor said as he waved his hand dismissively and started to walk away again, unsure of where he was going.
“Don’t travel too far! It gets dangerous near the outskirts!”
Diavolo shouted as Belphegor slowly sped up his walking speed and only slowed once he figured he was a safe distance away and sat down again, this time in a cave he made sure to clear out of anything he didn’t like, he didn’t want them finding him again.
It was nicer with shoes but Belphegor couldn’t help but only really think about the three looking for him, sure he expected Beel, he’d probably never even consider returning if Beel wasn’t one, but Satan and Asmo? Sure, he and Satan were okay with each other and he was basically glued to Asmo’s side when they were in the celestial realm but he didn’t expect them to miss him THAT much.
Whatever, it didn’t matter, he just wanted to sleep and that’s what he’ll do, sleep until he can forget everything and everyone, he didn’t need this stupid family anyways, they couldn’t even remember him up in that stupid attic.
He’ll figure it out in the morning.
