"Alhaitham.. you have been staring at me non-stop for like an hour. What's on your mind now?"
Kaveh had been sitting across from him, working on some blueprints for a couple of clients. The meetings weren't for another week so there was plenty of time for him to get this done. Though, it was hard to concentrate when his lover was staring at him with that emotionless expression.
"Hmm... your earrings. They look beautiful with the sun hitting them. Not as beautiful as you, of course."
There it was. Alhaitham would always say such things with a straight face and Kaveh would end up flustered.
"I-I... yo-u. Alhaitham!!"
It was all Kaveh could get out as his face was flushed a bright red, trying to fan his face in an attempt to calm himself down. Alhaitham slowly smiled at the sight of his flustered boyfriend. He knows people saw him as someone with no emotions who didn't care for anyone but that was far from the truth. He didn't care for everyone but there were people he kept near in his heart. He did display emotions as well, moreso with only Kaveh because his senior was his safe space.
Alhaitham wasn't afraid of displaying emotions, he simply struggled with expressing himself. He was working on that though, mainly for Kaveh because he was an open book.
His train of thought came to a stop when Kaveh moved and the earrings shined, staring at them once again. Something about the shine to them was so... intriguing to him, like they were calling for his attention.
So that's how the next few hours went for them. Kaveh working on blueprints whilst Alhaitham read a book, occasionally stopping to stare once more at those precious earrings.

Alhaitham loved Kaveh. It was obvious how smitten he was with him when he first began to court the elder. Making him his favorite meals, bringing him little gifts here and there, hiding in a corner at the tavern to admire the pretty senior, finding any excuse to also be near him and touch him. Alhaitham would even purposely put commonly used items on high shelves so he could walk up being Kaveh and help him get them. He'd wrap his arm around the elders waist and place the items down, telling him to call out for him if he needed anything else.
At first, Kaveh was worried that his junior was sick or dying because it was all so strange to him. With a little help from their friends, he realized it really wasn't the case. Alhaitham was simply making an attempt at courting him by using a book, something that became painfully obvious one night.
Kaveh was in bed when Alhaitham suddenly opened the window and climbed in, serenading his senior who stared with wide eyes and jaw dropped. First of all, Kaveh was shocked because he forgot to lock the window. Second of all, where the fuck did Alhaitham get the idea of serenading him? And third of all, why was he dressed so fancy for this?
Kaveh had sat up and watched him, his shock slowly turning into admiration as Alhaitham only continued his serenading. At some point, he had pulled out a rose and stepped closer, placing it in Kavehs hair. The senior could only laugh at his actions, a big stupid smile on his face as he watched his Alhaitham.
"I didn't know you could sing so well.."
Alhaitham had soon finished and sat beside Kaveh on the bed, a straight face returning.
"I've been practicing for you. A classic way to declare one's love to another is through the expression of music. You love the arts a lot so..."
How touching... Alhaitham was such an attentive person it almost made Kaveh want to cry. So he actually did tear up a little, looking at his junior with a soft expression.
"Haitham... ughhh... you make it so hard not to be in love with you. Just kiss me already."
And so Alhaitham did. He kissed Kaveh with such passion and tenderness that it only made the senior burst out into tears. There was so much love poured into the kisses that night, it only made the night more memorable. They declared each other to be boyfriends (husband's is what Alhaitham wanted but oh well).
It was definitely a long night for them though. Laying in each other's embrace, discussing how they felt about each other and when they realized how they felt about one another.
Alhaitham loved Kaveh from the moment they had their first intellectual discussion. He had finally found someone that knew as much as him and could keep up with his words. To finally have someone he could talk with and not have to worry about explaining too much was absolutely astonishing to him.
For Kaveh? The night Alhaitham took him in, years after they had lost touch from a rather strong disagreement. It was stupid but they were young and now? They had grown, matured, they were ready. Kaveh fell instantly as he gazed into those beautiful teal eyes who held nothing but love and compassion for him.
They even discussed some moments where they encountered these random feelings that bothered them. For Kaveh it was sometimes not seeing Alhaitham as much because of work, he would be a little worried despite knowing the younger was perfectly capable of caring for himself. And for Alhaitham, it would be seeing people getting all flirty with Kaveh when they would go out to do the shopping.
Kaveh would sometimes be obvious and other times he'd politely turn people down, remaining close to Alhaitham without realizing what he was doing. That was another thing that aided in the development of their feelings. They don't know when, but they began to hold hands when going out and would always sit beside each other.
Take their archon birthday as an example. Kaveh had explicitly asked for space to be left for him on the left side, exactly where Alhaitham was. He had only asked because he had to be near his roommate, he needed to be right beside him. And he was beyond happy when he got the spot he wanted, a bright smile on his face as he leaned back.

Alhaitham was his everything.
Kaveh loved Alhaitham to bits and he made it known to everyone. It was painfully clear the day he bragged about the relationship. It was painfully clear the day he went to Tighnari and flaunted the promise ring Alhaitham had gifted him. Kaveh made it his job to let everyone know what Alhaitham had done for him and how happy he was.
Sure, they still had their little disagreements, but they never let the other go to bed angry. They would reunite in the living room and talk it all out before heading to bed together. Everything was perfect, just right for them. And who knows. Maybe one day Kaveh would flaunt to the world that Alhaitham was his husband.
