Work Text:
It’s attractive, a man who does what needs to be done without putting on a show looking for praise.
He’s not raking the leaves because he knows her mother will ask him to and he’s not doing it in order to brag to Kozue about how well he takes care of her family. He’s doing it because he saw it needed to be done.
It’s also attractive that he knows she’s watching.
She peers down at him from her bedroom window savoring his little smirk every time he catches her eyes and she’s forced to turn her blushing face away. She can’t help the way her face flushes. She likes him so much and he looks so good in his fall garb. A beanie covers his head with a few unruly curls poking out and a bright coat stretches hard at work over his thick muscles. He’s hard and soft at the same time. Baki Hanma has destroyed people like it’s nothing, crushed their bodies as if they were nothing more than paper; yet he’s so soft, so gentle with his loved ones, and impeccably sweet. A walking paradox.
The knock on her door interrupts her musing.
“Come in!” When she glances down at the yard the leaves are heaped into garbage bags and her boyfriend is nowhere to be seen.
As Kozue suspects, it’s Baki who opens her bedroom door inviting himself to her bed.
“Cold out there,” he says by way of greeting.
Then, drinking his fill of her, eyes sweeping over her from head to toe, he grins. “Care to warm me up?”
“Is my mom still downstairs?”
Even as she asks she sheds her sweater. It’s an old one of Baki’s, worn into soft perfection. Her jeans and socks follow.
Baki has an intense need for skin to skin affection that Kozue has no problem fulfilling. She’s determined to give back all the love he missed out on from his parents tenfold. She’s so grateful her mom openly likes him too. She’s made it known often enough that he’s always welcome in their home that he’s starting to believe it.
“Nah. She went out for lunch with her friend.”
As soon as she’s in grabbing distance he wrestles her onto the mattress, tempting out her giggles with his own.
“You’re beautiful.” His eyes shine like he’s looking at fine art, like Kozue placed all the stars in the sky herself.
“So are you.”
Even though it comes out as a whisper she means it, believes in it with every fiber of her being.
