Chapter 1: Denial

Chapter Text

’She’s Gone Mirabel!’’ These terrible words had been spoken.

‘’No She's Not!!’’ Mirabel exclaimed to her Hermana's who had said that. Meanwhile in tears as she shouted those words, in denial.

Sadly, during the collapse of their beloved home, Casita. Julieta had sacrificed herself in sake of saving her youngest Hija.

Mirabel did not respond well to this, she was in absolute denial (and shock) that her Mama was gone, forever.

Even if her familia was rough on her, her madre was one of the ones who actually paid attention to her and her older Hermana's. Julieta practically stood up for her three Hija’s defending them against their Abuela. (Agustín also did too)

As Julieta has seen how they’ve been treated by her, especially Mirabel as she was her (secretive) favourite Hija. But she loved her two other daughters as equal.

She’d do ANYTHING to protect them (mostly Mira) even if it came down to the option to sacrifice her life to do so.

It was a rough sight for Mirabel, blood was most likely everywhere.

Sobbing from her familia and the sight of her mama's lifeless body being cried over as Mirabel was over in a corner of the debris of casita, sobbing hard wanting to be alone.

Mirabel woke up with a gasp, it was still real and true for what happened. She just kept on having bad flashbacks and nightmares of that traumatizing night a couple of days ago.

Unable to sleep now, she curled up in a fluffy teal blanket that belonged to Julieta.

Mirabel had found it when searching through the debris. It was on the ground unharmed from all the harm it could've gotten.

Mirabel grabbed it swiftly from the cold ground and wrapped it around her shaking, cold and tired body as she kept it wrapped around her even when she walked through the town with her familia somewhere.

It felt like Julieta's warm hugs that she would receive on a day she wasn’t feeling so great mentally.

Now she couldn’t experience the warm hugs the same without her there hugging her. But it felt almost the same and it was her new comfort item.

She was in so much denial and shock (and grief) that she had stopped talking and didn't have the same bubbly, kind personality.

She didn’t make an appearance a lot anymore, but sure it isn't really healthy for her health in the long run.

But you can’t really blame her, Shes only 15 and she lost an important piece of her life/familia.

Her familia felt a lot of grief for losing one of their own. Especially Pepa, Bruno and Agustín.

But Mirabel had it harder than everyone else as she was typically the closet to Julieta.

The rest of the familia could hear Mirabel sobbing day and night in the spare room of a house a kind towns person offered for them to stay at while they rebuild Casita.

The Madrigals hearts broke at how bad Mirabel was grieving for her madre.

  But what can you do?

You can’t blame her for it, It's not her fault.
