Darkness.
That's all the little moth had ever known. Since she was still a wee caterpillar. She had a normal life as a baby. As a tot. But, once she became old enough to comprehend her surroundings, freedom was stripped. She was taken. Taken to some- some "school". She was gifted supposedly, certainly didn't feel that way. She was cursed not gifted. Her light was taken.
She was an early bloomer, hatching from her cocoon at a young age, before teens. She certainly didn't feel that way, though. In her mind she still felt like a lost, lonely, frightened caterpillar.
They used her body. They ruined her. She starved. Bones poked from her frail body. Scars coated her arms and legs. Her wings could hardly hold her, frail for being so massive. Too massive. Her face was uneven. She was ugly.
No one talked to her or wanted to be friends. She didn't want to be alone but speaking.. Talking to others. Greeting others.. It was scary. She only knew hurt besides her mother what vague memories she had of her.
"Keep up," a priest, a wolf, strictly spat to her. She winced, huddling right behind him. She had already bruised her eye that day disobeying. Best not to push her little luck. If she had any to begin with.
She had to attend a new school, as she was "special". Even more special than other Ninth Circle students. Curse it all. She wanted to be free, not chained. She was grounded to the damned floor. Her wings weak. Broken. Malnourished. There was nothing to look forward to. Not even surviving was fulfilling anymore. There was nothing but darkness. All her life, all her time being sentient was just misery, darkness. A hell hole of an existence. What was the point of..
A bright beam of light shone from across the courtyard she was being guided in. The wolf complained it was far too bright, but personally the moth couldn't look away. It was.. Beautiful.
The light slowly dwindled to a mild glow. A unicorn pouted, huffing as she looked up at her magic in frustration. "Stupid horn, I was so close.." She mumbled.
As the glow faded, the moth still continued staring. The unicorn seemed to have a.. Natural glow to her. She had light, curly hair. A mole above her lip. Big, gorgeous purple eyes with small, yet bushy, brows. She was a bit pudgy and rather short, she seemed to be the moth's age. She wore a similar uniform yet in different colors..
"Marina!" A young teen called to her, a classmate it seemed. "Coming!" The unicorn-.. Marina replied.
.... Marina..
"Samarie come!" The wolf yanked her arm, claws digging into her tiny hands. The moth nodded.
".... Marina.."
.. Maybe life wasn't so dark. Maybe there was still a light to be found in her life.
