Chapter I

What exactly is love?

It comes in so many forms. The love a mother has towards their children, the love between two people who came from different backgrounds but chose to accompany each other and stand by one in this life time.

Beomgyu didn't  really care much about it. Love isn't something he experiences often. Sure he had experienced the love of his mother. The warmth her body offered during harsh snow storms without a heater because their family couldn't afford the electricity bill. She loved him and he loved her. But she left him, she left him there in that tiny house far away from the city. Her body went cold and limp in his arms. She said she loved him as her last word. But Beomgyu could not get himself to believe in her anymore. She did not love him. If she did, she would not have left him alone all by himself with nothing, with no one, Just an eleven year old boy all alone. That was the winter Beomgyu swore to himself to never love again.

Life in the orphanage was harsh to say the least. Stained wooden sage green walls, picture frames rusted at the edges nailed lazily along the hallway. The environment wasn't what made it so terrible, it was the people. Beomgyu quite enjoyed the little peace and quiet he had during nap time after lunch and bed time after dinner, where he'd sneaked out to the garden to play with the ladybugs and talked with the flower when the sun was up and stared up at the starry sky and shared his thoughts with his celestial friends when the sun had left.
