Chapter 1: Sweet stuff

Chapter Text

The air is crisp with an Autumn breeze, and the trees lining the campus are dressed in gorgeous golds and reds. Izuku hops down the concrete steps of class 1-A’s shared living house. He needs to go for a walk, to out pace the thoughts in his head that often keep him up late into the night. He's wearing his favourite, worn out red shoes, shorts, and a perfectly fitting shirt. His lanyard is tucked into his pocket, with his key to his room clipped on. It's beginning to get late, almost eight. It's only going to be a short walk, because Izuku wants to make sure he says goodnight to Kacchan before he disappears into his bedroom.

The pair of frankly overpowered teen boys keep to their own rooms almost every night, despite having been in a relationship for almost five months. That's not exactly marriage length, but with their history of closeness and rivalry, they already knew most things about each other. There were the odd surprises here and there, like Bakugo's hyper-specific love of macaroons, or Izuku's… Coping mechanisms. Bakugo likes his alone time, and his own space, and whilst Midoriya finds himself a little more clingy than that, he doesn't let Bakugo's reservations dampen his feelings.

Izuku walks down the path, the student houses passing him. The lamps begin switching on, opening pockets of gold light. Izuku kicks up a pile of leaves. It's pretty how they float in the air for just a moment, before twirling back down onto each other like tiny, maroon ballerinas. His hands are slightly cold, so he rubs them together. There's nothing quite like a bit of fresh air. He didn't want to look at all of All Might’s hundreds of faces in his room, glaring down on him - not tonight. Because he doesn't feel good enough, or worthy, and he has a very, very, very giant reputation to live up to. It makes him nauseous. His love of All Might, makes him nauseous. Strange that, how you can have something in your heart so fully that it starts turning you inside out.

He walks around the entirety of the campus, and spins around, heading back. A handful of people are out, mostly students trailing back to their dorms after studying in the library. Across the way Izuku notices Tokoyami, clutching a number of textbooks. He's quite far in front. A lot of respect is alotted to a guy like him, at least from Izuku. There's much to admire, like his shadowy, black diamond of an aesthetic, to pair with his chirpy quirk. Dark Shadow allows him to be so intimidating and formidable. Izuku opens his mouth, about to call out to him, when a palm rests on his shoulder.

“Ah!” He squeaks, reeling around to see none other than All Might standing there. His head cocks to the side, his gaunt, sparky blue eyes twinkling at the young student.
“Oh, All Might, you frightened me!”
“I'm very sorry, young Midoriya.” Toshinori chuckles. He squeezes Izuku's shoulder briefly before sighing, and letting go. “I was on my way to the 1-A dorms. I thought you'd all like something sweet to eat.” He smiles politely, and holds up a bag. Sweet treats? DadMight bought treats! Midoriya grins back.
“Ah, everyone's going to be so happy.” He purrs. The merchandise in his room may have been giving him a sick tummy but Yagi in the flesh was commonly one of Izuku's only sources of comfort. “What did you get?”

Toshinori clicks his tongue. “Only muffins. I wanted to get here sooner, but traffic today was terrible.” He continues. The pair move back into a walk. Tokoyami is completely gone by now. Midoriya reaches for the bag, but Yagi shakes his head. “I know I'm not as strong as I used to be but I think I can carry this.” He teases. Izuku blushes and looks off at a random tree.
“Right.” He says.
“How is young Bakugo? I'm sure he's holding up fine, but it's always good to ask.” Toshinori prompts.
“He's okay. He'll probably be heading to bed soon.” Izuku says. The two of them reach the dorm house, and wander inside. The excited, surprised cries at All Might’s arrival are immediate.

Izuku slinks to the side. It's extremely immature, but he often wishes for one hundred percent of Toshinori’s attention; his jealousy is constantly attempting to get out of the privacy of his thoughts. But they have a bond, that can't be denied. And even as Yagi hands out the muffins, he's keeping his eye on Midoriya. He hands Bakugo a muffin, and the boy raises his eyebrow.
“All Might? Muffins?” He snorts. Izuku hovers next to him.
“Yeah!” Midoriya grabs onto Katsuki's arm, attaching himself to his boyfriend. Katsuki grumbles, and peels down the paper, crumpling it up and tossing it in the bin.
“You know I'm going to bed now.”
“Mhm.”
“Well... Do you want my muffin, idiot?” Bakugo sighs, holding the blueberry muffin up to Izuku's face. He shrugs, accepting the regifted gift, and takes a bite.

“Hey, this is really good!” He says, squeezing Katsuki's arm. “We can share it if you want. Are you sure you don't want some?” Bakugo breaks away, leaving a quick kiss on his boyfriend's head.
“Already brushed my teeth, dummy.” He says. A discreet smile plays at his lips, and Izuku gets the overwhelming urge to kiss him. Kacchan is so, so cool. Bakugo steps backwards, Toshinori nodding at him, as he hands out the last few muffins. “Night, Deku.” He says. Izuku stuffs the last of the muffin into his mouth.
“Night Kacchan! Love you!” His voice is muffled through his full mouth, and he nearly chokes, but the tint of pink that appears on Bakugo's face is worth it.
“Love you too.” He mutters, blushing. And as expected, he wanders up the stairs, and vanishes.

“All Might really is the best.” Mina grins, swanning past Izuku, her muffin in her hand. Toshinori drops the empty box into the bin, and beckons Midoriya over. The two step back outside, Izuku shutting the door behind them. He looks towards his mentor expectantly. Yagi pats his head.
“I just want you to know how proud I am of you. You're turning out wonderfully brave.” He says. The words draw out slowly, the affirmation sinking into Izuku's head. His heart feels as if it's glowing. He nuzzles his head against the man's hand, and leans into him for a hug. Toshinori strokes his back. His heart bumps within his bony chest, and all of the bad thoughts that had been plaguing Izuku begin to melt.
“Thank you, All Might.” He breathes. The hug splits. It'd be inappropriate to say I love you to All Might, but Izuku wants to say it. There's a part of his heart that the older man fills, that comforts him in a particular way. He keeps his mouth shut, and Toshinori leaves, waving at him, his blonde hair fluttering about his face in the breeze.
