Work Text:
Everyone always laughed at Cookie for having too many blankets, but there couldn't be too many blankets in Oregon, especially this time of year. Now, he had someone to share them with, which he never expected, but it seemed that forming expectations had no point altogether when it came to King-Lu. From finding him in the forest to being brave enough to help him to meeting him again – by pure chance.
Cookie didn't really know what to think of the invitation. He knew what he felt about it, vaguely, but undeniably. He took up the cleaning not only to cosy up the house, but also to keep himself busy and distracted – for now.
And he went out to get flowers, because he couldn't find words that would be enough to show King-Lu how thankful he was.
There wasn't much to choose from, given the season and geography, but he eventually stumbled upon a cluster of white dots that stood out against the browns of the forest floor. The stalk was dry enough to snap under his fingers with a nice sound.
Cookie lingered in this part of the forest before going back. He still had no idea what he should say, but right now, he suspected that gestures would be better than words.
He didn't know that staying, on its own, was enough.
