Summer Showers 🌦

Work Text:

[I'M SO SORRY BUT I LOVE RYOMA AND HE'S SO UNDERRATED. THERE ARE NO GOOD ONE-SHOTS OF HIM HERE OR AO3 SO I GOTTA MAKE MY OWN!]

It was cold and rainy out, but it was April so it happened to be the middle of spring. Zakuro had just finished up her finals and was standing under a bus stop.

This was not how she wanted to spend her Wednesday.

She didn't have an umbrella or jacket, seeing as the weather out was completely warm earlier, and this was unprecedented.

She clutched her bag to her chest and decided to make a run for her dormitory. Which happened to be 5 minutes away. She was sure she'd catch a cold, being out in this, especially in a sundress and heels.

It was slippery and the ground was wet so she decided it best to put the heels in her bag and worry about the consequences later.

She looked around and saw no car coming so she crossed the street and ran to her dormitory buildings. She had to admit the rain felt a bit good on her skin, and she wanted to stop and dance in the middle of the street.

And if you're wondering why she didn't just get on the bus, the transits were shut down for the day so that made it impossible, and she wasn't going to sleep there like a homeless woman.

Part of it was because it was dirty, and the other half was her self-image

Once she made it back to the dorms, she was relieved that the common room had been held open by someone else passing through, who saw her coming.

She went inside and sat her bag down. It had minimal damage to it, so it was safe to assume she didn't have to worry about any papers or files of importance getting messed up.

She stood by the door and realized her feet were soaked, and so were her dress and hair. Her hair and clothes stuck to her skin like glue and she wanted to get back to her dorm as fast as possible, but she didn't want to destroy her heels, so she said her prayers for their custodian and walked up to the second floor where her dorm was.

She sighed a sigh of relief when she grabbed her key and opened her door. She leaned back against the wall but noticed how wet her clothes were and that she needed to change.

She walked into her room and took off her dress and stockings, throwing them in the hamper. Zakuro grabbed her pajamas and some new underclothes before going to the bathroom and drying off her wet hair. She turned on the shower and stepped in to wash up.

After she was done with her shower, she rang the water out of her clothes and took them down to the laundry room.

She sat there on her phone and started to get tired, slowly she fell asleep altogether. Until she heard a loud knocking that came from the front of the building.

She walked over to the sound and saw Ryoma standing out there, soaking wet. She pitied him and opened the door.

"Rough night? Forgot your keycard, huh?" Zakuro asked, rubbing her eyes.

"yea... I was locked out until you answered. I was going to call you, but you were already here." Ryoma replied quietly.

"What were you doing down here already anyways?" He asked. "I was washing my clothes that got wet. I also had the misfortune of walking here... or, running..." Zakuro trailed.

"I'm glad you were I guess, but it's getting late, shouldn't you be sleeping?" Ryoma squinted his eyes at her.

"Not sure if it matters but I am an undiagnosed Insomniac. If I went to sleep now, I'd wake up in four hours or so." Zakuro scratched the back of her neck.

Ryoma just shook his head in an 'I feel you.' way. "I'm assuming you've left your key as well?" Zakuro chuckled shaking her head.

Ryoma searched his pockets and his jacket, his key just so happened not to be there. She shook her head and walked into the laundry room. "Damn..." Ryoma cursed under his breath.

"Right? Just your luck. You've managed to leave your keys and student ID somewhere." She said as she took her clothes out of the dryer.

"Well, I could provide you with a place to sleep. If that's alright?" Zakuro offered.

"No, I wouldn't want to intrude. I'll just sleep down here." Ryoma shot down her offer. Zakuro wasn't taking no for an answer though.

"Nonsense Ryoma. I refuse to have my boyfriend sleeping in the common area like some homeless man." She said as she turned her head away from him.

"I don't want to impose, plus, you need your space." He reasoned. "Ryoma, my space is lonely. It's nice to have company sometimes. And I'd like to have a sleepover with you." Zakuro giggled as she opened her door.

"Wait what‐" Ryoma said, shocked. He was cut off by Zakuro's laughter. "Too bad. We're already here~" She put a hand on his shoulder and pushed him in, closing the door behind them.

"When did we get here?" He asked, standing there. "Well, too late, can't go back now. Take off your shoes will ya?" Zakuro asked as she walked into her room to fold her clothes. She went into her closet and grabbed some of his clothes because she kept a spare outfit for him.

"Here you go." Zakuro handed him the clothes. "Thanks...?" He said, surprised that she had some for him.

"Not a problem Ryoma..." She said as she just looked at him for a bit, she held her head in her hands and walked to her room, leaving a puzzled look on Ryoma's face. He shrugged and walked into the bathroom to change.

Zakuro walked back into her room sat on the bed and started folding her clothes to put them in her drawers.

When Ryoma was done he walked into her room. "I'm going to sleep..." He said, walking back into her living room. "Ryoma? You're not sleeping on the couch, are you?" Her brow furrowed.

"Uh... I was... why not?" He asked her. "Ryoma, darling. I'm not letting you sleep on the couch like a dog, that is so rude. I'd sleep on the floor before I let that happen." Zakuro crossed her arms.

"So where am I going to sleep?" Ryoma shrugged his shoulders. Zakuro cleared her throat and pointed to her bed. "With me of course." She stated. Ryoma blushed, shaking his head. "No... I'm not sleeping in the bed with you..." Ryoma refused.

"Come on! You're being stubborn. Just sleep in bed, nothing bad will happen." She rolled her eyes and pat the spot beside her. Ryoma stopped in the doorway. Contemplating his next move.

Zakuro got up and put her hands out for Ryoma. "Honestly Ryoma, I promise you won't disintegrate if you just take the bed with me." She smiled.

Ryoma weighed his chances of her letting it go, and they were slim to none, seeing as she had just as much willpower as him, if not more, and she would just pick him up and place him on the bed.

"Hah... fine." He said in his usually cold tone. "Thank you for making my job easier." She smiled at him.

"Whatever..." He pulled his hat over his eyes. She found it cute and couldn't help but smile. She got onto the bed and waited for Ryoma to join her.

Ryoma climbed into the bed with reluctance. Zakuro pulled him closer to her, giving him a warm hug.

"I love you Ryoma..." Zakuro said, kissing his forehead.

"...I... love you too Zakuro..." Ryoma replied. Zakuro was proud because She knew it must've taken a lot in him to say that.
