Chapter 1: Mistakes (Prologue)
Chapter Text
This would not be the first time he'd seen a mistake like this, but hopefully the last. Something was off, though.. Zim had never made such an error in his judgement before, so why now, after so many years of evading him. Nonetheless, it was of no importance now, he was right where Dib needed him, right in the palm of his hand. He'd already undergone the proper preparations for his experiment he planned to include Zim in, now he simply needed his subject. After some proper evaluation, for the third time in the last twenty minutes, he'd come to the conclusion that his experiment had a 19.62% Chance of failure, though this was not ideal, he'd have to work around it. Of the many times Zim had made a mistake, he was quick to fix it, yet for some reason, unknown to even him, he hadn't this time; Not that this was the first time he'd captured this elusive alien. With his new trap in hand, and his perfect plan, he was prepared to finally stop this invader; For once he had the upper hand, but despite his ego being at the peak of all his egotistical moments, he'd need his composure to fulfill his personal mission.
Tonight would be the night, Zim would finally belong to him.

Chapter Text
Over time, Dib had devised a plan to watch Zim, even in the comfort of his home. A one similar to one Zim employed on him years ago; He's use a small robotic creature to attach itself to him, and watch that way. He also had another plan, one even Zim couldn't suspect... It was rather, stalkerish, but Zim would never see it coming from him. He'd always see Dib's plans beforehand due to the intellectual similarities between themselves, but this time, he would use less intelligent tactics. He began down the street, opposite the way to Zim's home, this way no one could say he went that way if someone were to ask. At the corner, he turned, slumping over behind another house, then behind it. He felt odd doing this, this was rather creepy.. But he told himself it was worth it in the end though, after all, Zim was an Invader trying to do, well whatever he had planned. At the very least he wasn't doing this for no reason, before going further he slipped his little device out of his pocket (He'd made sure it was 100% fail proof, hence the charge up for its use) so it's be ready by the time he reached Zim's annoyingly large back yard, he'd never quite understood how it's gotten so large...
After some snooping around, and looking out for people, he was a house or two away from Zim's, and the machine was two minutes till activation, this, was indeed a problem, so like any reasonable person (Or as he saw it) he ran as fast as he could, only to trip and land face first in Zim's backyard. Now, he was laying flat on his stomach, with dirt and blood in his face... Not exactly how he expected his plan to go, but he was at least there now. He rose up from the (oddly solid) ground beneath him, looking down at his sleeves, they were all bloodied and, to him at least, ruined.
He sighed and lowly muttered the words, "Goddammit.." under his breath. Regardless, he had to move on quickly, that was a matter for a different time, he shakily pulled himself to Zim's back window, which he'd oddly never noticed before, nonetheless he tried the most reasonable trick in the book; He knew Gir likely forgot to lock it, so he simply slid it open. Zim's biggest flaw was letting Gir deal with his security, which was said mistake he'd been so happy about, for once he'd left Gir home alone for the day. The timer on the little robo-bug read 00:10, Ten seconds. He quickly shoved the thing into the small area between the window's opening (Zim had two layered windows, like an Alien would of course) so this was perfect. After a moment or two, he felt dizzy, this was odd but not unusual after landing face first in, whatever type of soil aliens have. He looked inside, only to see Gir staring at him, his eyes got wide, and his palms began to sweat, why did they sweat? That was stupid. He quickly ducked down, hoping Gir was only looking that way... Of course, he was completely wrong (for the first time, ever.) Tiny muffled footsteps could be heard nearing the window, knowing what would happen if he hid, he peeked up over, only to meet Gir face to face.
"Woahhh, It's Dib !!!" Gir stated to god knows who, though, he seemed happy to see him.
Dib responded with an obvious lie "Oh uh, heyyy little guy.. I'm just here to uhhh, you know, check Zim's security for him! Yeah..." This seemed to work on Gir, regardless of if it being a lie, or the complete truth. "Anyway, I gotta go now, you knowwww, normal weekend stuff..."
"Okay, bye bye !!!" Gir's normal response to him these days, never changing, the same old thing.
Dib slumped down against the wall, praying to whatever he believed in (At this point, he didn't know himself) that Gir would forget or stay quiet, after a moment he jumped up and dusted himself off, only to walk a few feet, feel light headed, and say hello to the bushes beside him, he was out cold, guess that face-plant had taken it's toll after all.

Gir answered the door, per usual, the door automatically locking behind him. He let out a long sigh as he flopped onto his couch; Gir, who was spinning on the floor beside him seemed happy, as normal.
"Is it hot in here, to you Gir?" He managed to breathe out. Gir's response? He simply tilted his head in confusion, obviously he had no clue what that even meant.
"Of course, you're a machine.. You wouldn't understand." Not wanting to bring the conversation any further after such a tiring day, he descended down to his lab area. Usually he'd be talking to himself or his machines, but today he had to focus, and stay focused. Every part of his mission had to go perfectly if he wanted to finally get their attention again, so he stayed quiet and made sure his attention was on his plan. After all this time, he had enough data to invade this planet and be noticed! All the data was input into his files for safe keeping whilst he continued to monitor the other factors. Luckily, there was only one problem, his old enemy, Dib. He rose from his seat, a grin across his face all through his ascension back above, carrying a few items with him now. Before he left though, he had simple instructions for a certain someone.
"Okay, Gir, I have very important business to attend to, but fret not, I leave simple instructions for you." His attention shifted from his friend, to the window behind them, "That window, it remains open at all times, do you understand?" Zim, 90% sure Gir wasn't even capable of that, opened the window himself.
"Mhmm!!! I undderstandd!!" Gir's response was enthusiastic as usual, though he likely had no intention to follow order properly. He took a quick glance to Gir once more, a small pat on the head wouldn't hurt for once. After his goodbyes, his hurried out the door. Upon further inspection, there did not appear to be a certain human around as of now, this was perfect considering his intentions. He quickly ran toward the woods, dodging trees and animals for optimal efficiency, and after a while he finally reached the place.
"My plan is finally paying off! I will finally have the attention I deserve." The words came out in an almost excited squeal, though, Zim would rather that not be the case. Each passing moment he climbed only added to his excitement, this was the spot to contact them, the Mighty Tallest would finally see he was worth the effort and time. More than anything though, the look on Dib's face would be priceless, after all, he always expected he'd win in the end. Thinking further into his reaction though, seemed to take Zim's will to carry the plan out fade away, but he shook his head, no time for doubts. It felt like hours before he reached the top of the hill, he set his computer device on the ground and flipped it on, typing in countless different codes and importing files to it. His head shot up upon hearing footsteps behind himself.
"What? Who-" He was cut off, his eyes grew wide, why was he here? How?
"Long time no see, Zim." It was Dib, who'd cut Zim's words off, and he was carrying some device as well, presumably to screw Zim over like usual, but this time Zim had other plans.
"Very well! You wish to stop me? Come and try!" He quickly turned attention to his computer, typing in a command, a live record of everything happening was to be transmitted to his home planet, so regardless of the outcome here, he'd finally have reason to call in backup; He would finally have proof of of humans strengths.
"You can't win this one Zim, I won the moment you let that idiot Gir be your security guard." The words hit Zim like bullets, he knew he messed up after hearing Gir's name mentioned.
"Gir, you say? Well, well maybe he's stupid, but he's not stupid enough to fall for one of your tricks!" He was angry, and he was lying to himself, he knew he was wrong.
"If you say so, but that doesn't matter, I won the moment you opened that window in your house." Dib's smile was terrifying, and he was unsure how he was scared of him now, he never was before, so why now? He knew he was right, Dib had stopped showing up, it only made sense that he was planning something, and he did feel dizzy and lightheaded now. Dib was speaking, but the words weren't reaching him, he felt himself fading in and out. His eyes closed, he knew he'd lost already. The last moments he could feel was being dragged off somewhere, and put into something.
Chapter 4: Second thoughts
Summary:
A moments decision is all it takes, one glance can hold an indefinite amount of feelings, the true question is if one knows the real time to take that chance, and truly accept their feelings.
Notes:
I hope this will be a longer chapter, I know for an 11 chapter work (with part 2 intent) 1700 words won't cut it, so I'll have to step up my game. And please remember to correct any mistakes!
Chapter Text
"I'm sorry I have to do this..." These words repeated under his breath every few moments, it's not like he didn't want to do this, he was just nervous. He didn't want Zim to suffer, that was all, yeah that was it. He already had him in the tube of sorts, ready to conduct his little experiment, so why was he so nervous? His hands were sweaty again, and he was overly stressed about such a simple minded task? Nonsense, he had to just be sick or something, that was the only real explanation. A few moments passed, a few calculations and some tweaking, and the test was ready to begin, again, he was hesitant, he was losing his mind. He cleared his desk and stared down at it, each individual crack was visible, his fear almost seeping down into it, as if draining from himself endlessly. He was for once in his life, genuinely terrified of something, but the one time he felt genuine fear he had no explanation as to why. He slammed his head into the desk, the pain was only getting worse, it needed to stop. The word STOP would replay in his mind endlessly, it seemed the world was falling apart around him, hands coming up from cracks in the earth below, tearing away the only feeling he had and leaving nothing but suffering. Tears seemed to fall into an endless void of nothing, sharp needles stabbed at every inch of his body, leaving only the discomfort before the pain. Mowing was now pointless, as escaping death, is impossible.
The suffering only seemed to get worse as time escaped him, had it been minutes, hours, years even? He didn't know, he wanted to throw up, cry, rip himself apart, and die all at once; Every passing moment seemed to drag him deeper into his own personal hell. A moment had passed, and an alarm awoke him from his conscious sleep. His hands scattered to every part of his body, feeling for the things that had tormented him, yet nothing was there, each breath got more shallow. He counted the minutes, exactly 24.7, it took to calm himself. Now he was sat against the cold wall next to the chamber Zim laid in, the sweat poured down his skin like small rivers in the Amazon, each thing touching his body was extra weight felt against himself, was this the sign he needed? He quickly collected what was left of his stable mind and hurried off to the bathroom, it took mere moments for him to strip down and have the shower on. Usually he'd stand, but how he just sat, the water pouring off of him like rain would. He thought of everything up till now, his adventures chasing Zim, his meetings with Gir, all the time spent working on this. He didn't want it to end so soon, this was his entire life, chasing Zim around. Each drop of water that dripped from his drenched hair reminded him of his times with Zim, each and every little thing they'd done, regardless of if it was friend or foe. Hours passed before he was out of his own lake of self pity, he'd never cared about anything like this before. He got himself ready once again, now was the time to make his final choice...
Cold air rushed under his feet, he looked like a loser, plain black shirt with a skull on it, and stupid black jeans. The only redeeming quality was his hair now, he looked like a total mess earlier, now he had to choose, let Zim free, or continue his plan. He looked at Zim's face, how was he more human than himself? Dib felt like more of an alien than Zim had ever appeared to be, spending countless days, hours, just to abduct Zim, and yet he was less human than him... The lever was pulled back after a few moments, and Zim was carefully pulled out of the liquid substance inside, it was thick, likely extremely uncomfortable. Despite being asleep, Zim's face showed all of his discomfort, so he carried him to the bathroom. He'd fix this mess, and let Zim go.
But even after all this, he still couldn't understand why he felt this way, or what the feeling was.

Chapter Text
Waking up in a bathtub wasn't very comfortable, especially after being knocked out by your nemesis the day prior. His vision was still blurry, and everything hurt quite a bit, but other than that he seemed at least somewhat okay. The only question was his whereabouts, despite feeling a familiar vibe, he couldn't quite make it out at first. Soon enough, he felt himself being lifted from said room, he was taken to another room and laid comfortably on a bed, eventually he was clothed in overly baggy things too big for his body. It was an odd comfort, one his home had never given him, if he could even call it his home. A year of a moment passed before he felt another body against his own, he was semi-conscious, only being able to perceive things around him. That didn't matter anymore, he was at the very least, warm and comfortable, and most of all, safe. It didn't take long for him to drift off, his dreams were filled with fogged memories of Dib and Gir, his chest was heavy, as if he felt like something was missing from his heart. Soon he awoke, only to be faced with his mortal enemy sitting aside him. At first, he was confused, then angry, but when he tried to speak, he was cut short before a word could come from his lips.
"Hey, hey, no, stay quiet. No one's supposed to know you're here." Dib's words weren't gentle, but they were sincere. He wasn't lying or trying to deceive him in any way.
"Fine, Why am I here?" He let a quick but quiet whisper of a response find its way out. He was nervous, why was he here, and why wasn't he hurt? Too many questions to be asked, and not enough time.
"Okay, let me fill you in.." Dib rose from his spot and placed his hands down against his desk, his tone was more concerned than anything "I, I fucked up, Zim, I was going to go through with it, but I couldn't. And now, whatever you called in can't be stopped." These words hit Zim's chest like nothing before, he'd done it? He finally contacted them again? The Tallest, the greatest beings in the universe. Yet this time, they didn't appear so great. His heart was pounding, and his mind and body heavy.
With a quick and tired breath he spoke the complete opposite of the truth "Well, I, Well I don't care, Dib, I've been waiting for this!" His words weren't even slightly truthful anymore, the pain in his chest only grew, but why? They exchanged more conversation over time, but it was going nowhere. It wasn't long before Dib left the room, and he was alone. His body was oddly hot, and he felt a bit sick, but he was positive he was not. This was something else, his body had a form of tingling sensation that he couldn't quite make out, as if he had feelings waiting to rip through and flow out into a river of emotion, threatening to flood everything near and far. Was it because of Dib, he wondered for a while, no, it couldn't be right? He frantically tried to look for a solution, or some reasoning to why he felt this way, why he was so flustered over nothing. Had Dib touched his body? No, he was positive that the being who had taken him, had in turn also looked after him, and as much as he hated Dib, he knew Dib was no such monster. He checked all around his body, only to feel more arousal in his confusion, causing him to hide himself in the surrounding blankets and roll around for some time.
It was a few hours before Dib had returned, bringing offerings of food and other things to occupy himself with. All of which he'd turned down in an instant, he'd tried to make excuses to himself as to why he didn't want those things, yet each refusal only hurt him worse. Eventually the sun had come to set once more, and the only bed was Dib's bed. Zim kept repeating the words 'I have to' as his reason to sleep in the same vicinity as Dib, whom he'd decided to watch sleep, there was some comfort found in his enemy letting his guard down around him that spoke gentle tunes into his heart and soul. Moments passed that felt unreal, for once in his life the chaos was gone, dead, buried in the deepest pit of hell. Hours passed before he fell asleep, his dreams were more comforting now, allowing himself to lie in Dib's arms without worry. Even if only for now, maybe it was okay to enjoy being friends with this human, no, with this person.
With his forced enemy whom he'd wished for as a friend all along, Dib.
Notes:
I tried to add some more figurative language- I'm not sure how it'll add up to be in the eyes of the reader, but I hope it can maybe convey how some may feel when facing the results of love first hand
Chapter 6: True Feelings
Summary:
So, I'm not sure how good this chapter is, but I'm getting there with the main plot, this is my first time writing any type of love interaction so please bare with me...
Chapter Text
For most of that morning, Zim pretended he hadn't been cuddled up in Dib's arms a mere 2 hours ago. Dib knew that Zim had been, but it seemed he wasn't going to say anything about it, which was good, he didn't need anyone to hear about him having cuddle time with his enemy. Dib repeated yesterday by bringing him things, this time he had accepted some of them and denied the others. He sat in the middle of Dib's bed, his body still had to recover from the injection he'd gotten to ease the pain, which apparently Dib had used while he slept, this wasn't a problem for him seeing as it gave him more time to rest and recover from what had happened. Some time passed with him laying flat on his back in bed, he needed something to do, so he hopped up and walked quietly from room to room until he reached the kitchen. The kitchen was the one place he wasn't sure how to operate too well, but he would attempt occasionally to see if he could do better, this was one of those times. He grabbed a few things and threw them together, some form of meal was made, it included some form of fish, noodles, and cheese. It wasn't the greatest, but it was sufficient enough for him. He continued walking around the house for a while, until he heard the front door unlock, despite Dib's nice actions, he felt the need to sprint back to his room and pretend nothing happened.
Dib's footsteps left a chill down his spine, he was scared because it felt too good to be true that his own enemy would treat him so kindly after years of mutual torment. The door to the room was soon opened, Dib was in the doorway looking at him, puzzled.
"Zim, did you perchance, cook something earlier?" His voice was more concerned than mad, but Zim was still speechless, so he just nodded to him. Dib took a moment before walking over to his desk and sitting down on it. "That's okay, I just wanted to make sure no one else had been here, that would ruin everything..." his words were in a softer, almost sad tone, like he depended on no one finding Zim. He didn't know if that was creepy, or if it was protective, but at least Dib seemed to be okay with him taking care of himself. Dib seemed shaky and uncomfortable, almost like he needed something. That alone prompted Zim's next move, quietly he got up and walked over to Dib, who looked up at him with a saddened expression.
Zim took a moment to gather his courage before he spoke, "Do you need, a hug, Dib? That word sounded foreign to him, he'd never had many hugs before, even when he did something good. He was scared of rejection, but Dib needed it more than him, so it was worth the effort. Before he could register his own words fully, Dib's arms wrapped around him, he was gentle, yet his arms held years of emotion. A few years ago, his dad had died in an explosion, a minor miscalculation had turned into a catastrophic failure that resulted in part of the city being wiped off the map. Dib had never quite recovered, nor had he wrapped his head around the fact that his dad was gone. Zim knew that much already, but Dib just held him tighter, he didn't want to let go of anyone ever again, and though he couldn't read minds, That's what Zim could make out from Dib's reaction. Zim's response was only to hold Dib, nothing more or less. He wasn't great at giving comfort verbally, he'd never had anyone to comfort to begin with. He felt a wetness from the shirt he had on, but he paid it no mind, it wasn't important now.
Dib soon broke the silence, it was clear he'd been crying, but Zim knew that wasn't something to bring up. He looked at Zim's body for a moment, then his eyes, he wanted to say something. Zim simply patted his head, trying to come up with some explanation for why Dib was so attached at the moment.
A moment passed, and Dib made a sound, it was words that gradually rose in volume, "Zim, I, I have something I need to tell you." His voice was shot, it was cracking, and he was shaking again, this was important, more than anything so far, he could tell.
"I have, I.." He stopped a moment before the words came out, and when they did they were fast, and louder than before, "Zim, I, I love you, I really love you.." Who did he love? That was Zim's only thought, not him right? He loved someone and it couldn't be him, he wasn't human like Dib was.
"You, love who?" Zim's voice was full of confusion, and denial, he genuinely didn't think his name was the one said.
"You, Zim, I love you..." Zim didn't move, he was frozen, no one had ever said that to him before, and he had expected it to stay that way, but DIB, of all people? He just tilted his head, there was nothing he could say to that, his lifelong enemy just admitted his feeling for him in full. He just wrapped his arms around Dib's neck more, he had no words for Dib, he didn't know how he felt about Dib, he needed time to process, he barely understood what human love meant to start with, let alone how to know if he could feel it. Dib was quiet now, he picked Zim up and held him like some kind of loved one, Dib had grown by now, and Zim hadn't even realized it, it was somewhat comforting though, to have someone so, big, be so gentle with him. Even The Tallest never treated him like this. Maybe what he was feeling was love after all, but all he knew was that he was finally accepted by someone for more than his usefulness to them.
"Okay, Dib, I'll help you stop them, The Tallest," Zim's voice was confident, and he was sure of his choice, "But I'll need some supplies, and a lot of lasers."

"Remember, Dib, a lot of lasers." Zim's way of speaking was focused and determined, unlike a few hours ago. Dib simply nodded in response, he didn't want to interrupt Zim after all, his work was extremely important. He knew he'd only get in Zim's way, so he laid down to bed for the night. Of course, he wanted to stay up with him, but talking would just be awkward while they worked, and he knew Zim would do all the work anyway. It was a while before he fell asleep, but once he did he was out of it completely, taken somewhere new to him. He was sat against some form of stone, his head pulsed in pain and his left arm numb from the elbow downward. No, his arm was not numb, it was torn off at the joint, his body was stiff, cold even, that cold though, was from the spiked metal stuck through the wall, into his chest cavity; Now there was an at least five inch wide hole through his chest, blood flowed like an ocean from it. was he dead, and it all had been a dream, had Zim won and his reality a lie? Even if that was so, the few moments he'd spent with Zim were priceless, he would never forget them, however fabricated they may be. He could feel half of his face was wet, drenched in his own blood. If he was to make an assumption, his eye was missing as well, or destroyed at the very least. He grew colder, more distant by the second, that was until something tugged on his leg, at least, the one he still had. It was Gir, he looked sad, very sad, maybe the most depressed Dib had ever seen him be.
His voice was high, but he came out very squeaky "Dib..? C'mon get up Dib.. You're okay!" his voice was hopeful, no matter how shot his voice sensor was, he'd been crying. How could a robot cry, Dib thought, that's not very possible is it?
"I'll.. be up in-" before he could finish speaking, he coughed up a deep crimson liquid, rather, his own blood, "...In a minute, little buddy.." his voice was raspy and faded, enough to be heard, but not fully there. The last of his strength would go to two things, Gir's comfort, and his last message to Zim. "Can you.. tell Zim I'm sorry, for everything?" His voice was weaker again, his final act being his hand placed on Gir's small green head. He loved that suit, not that he'd say it, it fit Gir perfectly. Gir sniffled, nodding his head and hugging Dib's side. As much as Dib wanted to believe differently, tears fell from his eyes and chin as Gir ran off to find Zim. Had Zim won, or maybe the tallest finally arrived to destroy everything, Zim included. Footsteps tapped along the gravel ahead, It was not Gir, nor Zim, but a face he'd only seen once, in video.
"Any last words, human filth?" His voice was cowardly, and not at all intimidating, no matter how hard he tried to make it seem as such. The Tallest in red stood before him, an Irken gun facing between Dib's eyes. Dib's teeth were pressed together, all of the anger left in his body swelled up into his final words, releasing what you could almost call a growl from deep within as he spoke "Fuck, you." And like that, his final moments ended in a haze of pain, and acceptance. He understood now, maybe the others were right all along, and Zim was only a foolish boy like himself, maybe if he'd spent more time with him, things would've turned out differently. A rush of pain, he sat up in his bed, gasping for air, his eyes filled with tears and his body in a cold sweat. He'd been crying for a long time, and the bags under his eyes didn't help hide his emotions. He took a moment to breathe before getting up, he stumbled into his living room where Zim sat awake, working. Dib got closer until Zim turned his head.
"Oh, nice nap D-" He was cut off as Dib hugged him from behind, his antenna jolted straight up and his body stiffened, "Dib are you okay? It's not like you to hug me." He got no response, just muffled sniffling and sobs, for once, Dib crying seemed so unnatural, and out of place, as if this was the first time he'd truly cried to someone. Zim knew not to ruin his moment, so he leaned back into Dib's hug, and let him have his chance.
Dib had no words for Zim anymore, just raw emotion that was left to simmer for too long, and now they were falling out of him. He found it hard to simply contain his feelings, the last thing he remembered before he spaced out was his teeth sinking into Zim's shoulder, and the small squeak Zim responded with, the rest was a blur, a mix of his emotions and reality. Before long he felt Zim's head lean back against his shoulder, he was nuzzling his head into Dib's, his voice was shaky as he told Dib that he may want to sleep more, but Dib refused without Zim beside him. He waited for Zim's words, which came as, "Okay, I, I'll sleep with you Dib." His voice was high pitched and squeaky, Dib had forgotten that he was biting Zim, luckily no blood was drawn, or he might've passed out again. He attempted to stand, but the small Irken yanked him down into his own arms and carried him to bed himself, laying him down before and laying himself down on Dib's chest. Zim's final words to him before they passed out sounded like 'I love you' maybe he was wrong, but, he loved Zim.

Chapter Text
Dib awoke to Zim's absence once again, not unusual, but upsetting nonetheless. He figured that Zim was in the garage or the living room, so he quickly threw some clothes on and grabbed his glasses. It took him roughly 10 minutes to get ready, but once he was he started toward the garage, where Zim seemed to be working. The door was unlocked like usual, and the room was a mess with parts and tools, Zim was rebuilding Tak's ship again.
"Do you really think it'll be useful?" Dib spoke a confused tone, not unlike his usual reactions to Zim's machines.
"Oh, good morning, Dib-human, I think it will be sufficient for my plan, after all, it is Irken technology." Zim's voice was a bit mocking, but that wasn't new between the two, they had always competed about if humans were better or if Irkens were better. There never was a real conclusion to draw the line, aside from their technological advances the Irkens were somewhat similar to humans in a way, maybe that's what Dib found so interesting about Zim. Dib picked up some tools and began to aid Zim in other areas such as places he couldn't reach, not that he couldn't build the ship alone, but Zim had given him his moment, so it was only fair Zim got his too. Gir was running around the living room as usual, screaming whatever he heard back at the TV. It was nice to be on one side for once, it was calming even, it wasn't so loud or overwhelming anymore.
"Okay, now we need lasers, lots of them, and make it quick." Zim's voice pissed Dib off, always demanding, but he decided it wouldn't ruin this moment, so he got to work on adding lasers to their home defense system, it seemed that Zim had somehow fused their homes for the time being, unknowingly to Dib as he was asleep during the fusion. Dib let out a soft sigh, he was still tired from last night, that dream sapped the energy out of him, and it seemed like it wouldn't come back like he thought. It took a few hours for them to both finish their tasks, but they were finished eventually.
"Should we grab something to eat?" Dib spoke as he set foot back inside, "I don't really feel like cooking..." Zim took a moment to consider Dib's physical condition, something Dib had seen him do often.
"I suppose so, considering your less than usual condition." Zim was mocking him again, but he was smiling more than usual, "You can pick where we go, I don't plan to eat anything." Zim's voice made a squeak at the end as Dib scooped him up and walked outside, it was cold enough that their breath was visible, so Dib held Zim in his jacket with him. Soon they reached the car, where Dib turned the heat all the way up so Zim wouldn't be cold, he was still wearing barely anything to protect him from the cold.
Dib turned the radio on and drove off, the Invasion would happen soon, he couldn't let his guard down. Soon enough, they arrived at a secluded burger spot, not really in or out of the city, more so just on the edge of it. Dib ordered fries for himself, nothing else, usually he ordered a lot, but today was different somehow. The two made some small talk, but they were still technically enemies, so Zim likely didn't want to get too attached to him. Although there was an invasion coming soon, Dib felt calmer than usual, as if accepting that there's nothing he can do about it, maybe it was better that way. Maybe if he just let things happen, Zim wouldn't need to bother with him anymore.
"Are you back in your puddle of sorrow?" Zim hissed at him almost, he sounded annoyed.
Dib quickly looked up at Zim, "I uhm, no, I'm not." He was clearly lying, even Gir would've been able to tell that much.
"Your food will get cold." Zim looked Dib up and down as he spoke, almost trying to figure something out, but what exactly? Dib grabbed his food from Zim, he couldn't really tell how much he was eating when he did eat, but he ate slowly regardless. For a long while, Dib just sat there, wondering, 'Why would Zim have interest in me exclusively?' To Dib, Zim had far more things to enjoy in life, he had other interests too. He sat up, his chest was hot, was it anger? Maybe it was jealousy. It looked like he was just sitting up now, but his hand, opposite to Zim's field of view, was clenched around part of the bench they'd sat on. He was once again, jealous of Zim, being able to have other interests besides his enemy, Dib on the other hand, had nothing, he found no one attractive aside from Zim, he found nothing a interesting as Zim, nothing at all. Soon enough Dib stood up.
"Where are you go-" Dib cut him off, his anger coming out in a forceful tone. "Get in the car Zim." Zim looked up at Dib, he was worried judging by his expression, but was it for Dib or himself he was scared? When Zim didn't respond, Dib grabbed him, it was a forceful movement, but it didn't hurt him. His eyes darted between Dib's face and his arm, his hand was clenched in his pocket, something was wrong. After a moment, he sat in the car, Dib in the drivers seat. The ride home was quiet, but Zim could only focus on Dib, his expression was full of sadness once again. They got back home at around 11 pm, Dib immediately went to his room, Zim followed behind him. Once Zim finally reached the room, Dib was laying in his bed, quietly.
"What's wrong?" Zim sounded like a human again, not like he usually did, he was genuine, but Dib didn't respond. After a second or two, Zim simply slipped into bed with Dib, wrapping his arms around him. Dib's only reaction was pulling Zim against him, he never spoke a single word. "The invasion is soon, you know, maybe we should work some on getting the stuff to defend earth?" He meant what he was saying, the tallest meant nothing to him anymore.
"Okay..." Dib barely even spoke the word, it was as if it was through his mind that Zim heard it.
"Okay, listen, I'll work on the defenses more tomorrow, you work on-" Zim thought for a moment, what made Dib happy? "My Pak, I want you to work on it while I work, and before you ask, yes I can be without it for a while." Dib smiled slightly, that's how Zim knew it worked. A few minutes passed and Dib was out cold, he'd been asleep for a while already, he slept through most days, but maybe it was good for him.

Chapter Text
Dib woke up to Zim sitting in front of him, Zim seemed concerned about something.
"Good morning Dib-human, I seem to have found a, log of yours." He flashed up a notebook, "Enemies? That's all you think we are?" Dib got worried, had Zim found something out from his writings, how much had he read?
"Zim, I-"
"Shhh, that was a rhetorical question, fool." Zim tapped him on the head before tossing the notebook aside. "Would an enemy do this?" His words were followed by Zim's tongue wrapping around Dib's hand. It was slimy and wet, slippery. Dib's face turned hot and his heart racing almost instantly, he also felt his pants tighten after Zim's began to slither his tongue a bit.
"Wait Zim, what are you doing?" Zim didn't respond, he simply pushed him back onto the bed, removing his tongue from his hand.
"You see, human, I'm not too happy about how you think." He said this whilst his hand slid down onto Dib's lower body, creeping its way into his pants. Soon enough, Dib felt Zim's hand wrap around his shaft, this caused his body to jolt forward a bit, and him to let out a soft growl. Zim was intrigued by this, clearly pleased by Dib's reaction. Zim teased Dib by dragging his nail lightly up and down in a sort of circular motion, at this point Dib was limp on the bed, only moving by his body's impulses. After a while, Zim removed his hand, and Dib's pants with it. Dib's eyes were focused on Zim's hands now, but Zim had a different idea in mind for Dib. Zim scratched at Dib's thigh to distract him from the fact that he was moving his body between Dib's legs, it worked as he had expected too.
"Now, take a good look at yourself, human filth, at my mercy as always!" He was back to his narcissistic and superior tone, this was his plan from the start. By this point, Dib was too flustered to speak, so he just stared back at Zim, who laid down between his legs, his cheek rested against him just enough that Zim could feel it throbbing. The fact that Dib was so eager made Zim smile, what he did next though, Dib had not expected. Zim's tongue slithered its way along Dib's leg, wrapping around Dib's pulsing cock, Dib's back arched up a bit before sinking back down. Had he teased Dib so much that he'd almost came from that? It was amusing to him nonetheless, seeing Dib so defenseless. Dib's body shivered with anticipation, it was clear what he expected to happen, but Zim wouldn't let him off so easily, before Dib could react to it, Zim's mouth had completely swallowed Dib's full length, he estimated that it was maybe seven inches at most, which was surprising for someone so small to be able to take like it's nothing. Zim's head bobbed up and down slightly for a moment, just to tease the human boy. His body went limp once more, his only movement being his body twitching and his cock pulsating in the alien creature's mouth. Dib could vividly feel Zim's tongue lightly dragging around his shaft, licking at different parts all in effort to tease him even more.
"P-Please.." Dib's voice was broken up into bits and pieces, but Zim had teased him enough, so he decided to feed into Dib's pleading by rocking his head back and forth again, his teeth lightly dragging up and down the length of the other boy, Zim had to admit, this was quite pleasing for him too, especially the noises the human boy made. Every so often Zim would get a full noise from him; Nghh... Mmhhff... It was amusing and arousing at the same time. While for Dib, his hips were pressed back against the bed so that he couldn't move any, Zim's mouth was velvet soft, sticky, and wet. Prior to this, Dib would swear up and down this disgusts him, but now, he'd just be lying.
After a few minutes, Zim pushed Dib's tip up into the side of his cheek so that Dib could see for a moment, he could tell Dib was closer by his breathing pattern, it was shaky and inconsistent. That prompted Zim to change his method, soon enough Did's full length reached the back of Zim's throat, the alien let out a soft gag before bobbing his head up and down once again, his tongue was firmly wrapped around him still, slithering around every inch. Maybe Zim did want this as much as he did, against his better judgement, he shot a glance down to Zim, whose eyes were fixated back on his, in a moment, Dib had reached his climax, he let out a soft pleased moan, his hands gripping onto his bed's sheets. What pushed him more than anything was hearing Zim swallow everything he had let flow into his tight throat. Zim stayed for a moment, ensuring he swallowed everything before sitting up, and once he did sit up, he wiped his mouth.
"Would an enemy do that, human boy?" Zim sounded just as pleased as Dib had been, he was overly excited to hear Dib's reaction.
"I, I guess not... But why did-" Once again, the Irken had cut Dib off, "You know exactly why, use the brain in that big head of yours."
Zim shot a quick smirk to Dib before yanking him up to him, face to face. "Come on now, we need to get to work."
Notes:
Hihi, so I know, I know, not very detailed... but for now I'd like to save details for later, once the relationship theme actually gets going ^_^
Chapter 10: WIP
Notes:
Hey there, it's been a minute, sorry to say but I'll need to postpone this for a while, personal matters.
Hi! This is an update as of 1/30/25. This is an unfortunate hiatus, which could become an indefinite amount of time. I'm struggling with my mental and physical health as well as with my love life, I'll try my hardest to continue this for those who wish to continue onward. Unfortunately I can't make any promises. <33
