Only Ones Who Know

Summary:

I don’t think I ever would have expected my life to have changed so fast after that night. What was I to expect, though? Everything felt so unreal. No. Everything felt too real. Theories proved. Chapter 1: Your Smiles Are Giving Me All Types of Treble

Chapter Text

I don’t think I ever would have expected my life to have changed so fast after that night. What was I to expect, though? Everything felt so unreal. No. Everything felt too real. Theories proved. Speculations finally falling into place. And all because one guy landed in my backyard. It was a roller coaster of a month already. I didn’t expect him to make things better.

I slammed the door behind me. Fuck. I’m exhausted. First, I was late to work because I slept in after getting 2 hours of sleep. THEN, I was so delirious from the lack of sleep and the rush of getting to work that I screamed at my best friend, Ray. And now, I’m at home at 11 PM after having to make up the time I wasn’t at work by cleaning the whole damn shop. I’m not even gonna bother getting changed. To bed I go. And if the universe couldn’t hate me more. There was a flash of light in my backyard. At first I didn’t give a shit until I heard what sounded like an explosion. Thankfully, my backyard wasn’t on fire or anything. But… uh.

“What… the hell…?” The odd ship glistened in the middle of my yard. It was the middle of the night, so I was exhausted, assuming I was just seeing things. Then a man stepped out. He was decently tall, neon red hair with darker roots, and rocking a bright blue suit with a red tie. When did aliens get so hot?

“Holo axam pum???” The voice sounded panicked, though I couldn’t understand a single word. Then his head whipped in my direction. Before I could say anything or even walk away, he rushed over to me, eyes wide. “Ut'lo... kelgoeus…” He whispered before he looked panicked once again. “EEP!” He slapped his hand on his mouth. He seemed embarrassed. I have no idea what the hell he said, but it was obviously something you shouldn’t say in your first introduction. That was an adorable sound though.

“Uh… Who… are you?” I said hesitantly. I don’t know why I said anything like he knew what I was saying, but I was making some attempt, I guess. Unsurprisingly, he tipped his head at me in confusion. After a moment of him looking at me with a painful amount of confusion, he perked up and looked at the weird looking watch thing hugging his wrist he had slipped under his sleeve. He fidgeted with it then looked at me again, once again looking confused.

“Um… hi…?” He spoke softly with an awkward smile. When I looked at him absolutely shocked for a good 10 seconds, he seemed defeated. “Crap. It didn’t work… Okay. Uh…” He looked back down at the device and fidgeted with it more.

“Wait!” I quickly intervened. “It uh… did work…?” Honestly, I had no idea if it did work. I just assumed since he was speaking english now, it did.

“It did? So you can understand me?” Before I could even nod, he quickly answered his own question with a squeak. “I can understand you!!” A big smile grew on his face.

“I can understand you too…?” I laughed a little. This was weird. Not awkward weird. There's-an-alien-talking-to-me-right-now-and-I-don't-know-what-the-hell-to-do weird. “So… where are you from…?”

“Xanar!!” He giggled. He was still rocking on his feet with excitement oddly enough.

“Uh… Where’s that?” I expected the answer to be like Mars or something. Instead, it was a planet that sounded like the name of a medicine.

He looked up for a moment then pointed in some direction in the sky. “I… think somewhere around there.” He dropped his arms, seeming disappointed. “I don’t really know.”

I chuckled in response to his slumped shoulders. “Hey, it's alright. Uh. Wanna come inside?” I laughed out.

It was as if I just said the most meaningful thing ever. His eyes absolutely lit up, showing a cute grin. “Yes!” He bounced more on his feet with giggles.
