Chapter 1: Part1

Notes:

Hello. Thank you for clicking on this story to read it. This story was actually a one-shot that I wrote a year ago in my notebook at school during exams. Time passes so fast!

A few short points:

1. Red status: being bombed by enemy planes

2. Yellow Status: Enemy planes can be observed in the sky, but they haven't attacked yet.

3. White status: There is no enemy in the sky and the area is safe.

Also, the world of this fic happened in my mind and is not based on Japan's real historical events. This was a one-shot work and to make it easier for readers, I divided it into 5 parts, and every three days, I will update a new part. I hope you enjoy it.

Chapter Text

Chuuya took a deep breath and lowered his head with fear. He covered his ears with his hands so that he wouldn't feel the terrible sound of the planes above him. He gathered himself a little and took refuge in a corner of the basement of a faraway house that an old man had donated to the people of the village after his death. The people of the village only could use that house as a shelter during aerial bombardment.

Japan had been in war for about eight years and it didn't seem it would end soon. Every second of these Eight years was torture and pain for Chuuya. Hard eight years that they faced with famine, hunger, and various diseases. But the enemy's advances, which caused insecurity, were worst of all.

In that cold and dark shelter, the loud and harsh sound of the danger sign bothered the ears and worried the hearts: "Listeners! The sign you hear is a danger sign or red status. Please go to the shelter and save your lives!"

Chuuya closed his eyes tight with stress and exhaled through his nose. Suddenly, the sound of another explosion filled the space. Which made the screams louder. Some pebbles fell from the ceiling of the basement. Dust filled that small and dark place. The smell of dirt particles was mixed with sweat, tears ,and the scents of other people. Chuuya took another deep breath nervously while trying his best to stay calm and control his heartbeat. He needed to stay calm. Because the doctor had advised him. Because he was pregnant and needed to take care of himself more than ever. But unfortunately, he had neither good conditions to raise his child nor their safety. This was the third aerial bombardment of his small village.

Their village wasn't even close to the battlefield. But the advance of the enemy was fast and they were able to capture the neighboring port city, named Yokohama. They were so close to Chuuya's village that they caused many natives to flee from that place.

He heaved a shaky sigh again. And while his hands were shaking, he pressed himself against the corner of the small room. He was only thinking about his mate Osamu In that situation. Dazai had told him that he would follow him to the shelter. He just wanted to go back to their house to pick up an oil lamp.

But he still hadn't returned, and this made Chuuya's stomach beat more than usual, and his ears turned red. His feeling of worry was increasing moment by moment with the roaring sounds of multiple explosions. Suddenly, a loud noise was heard from above and the ground started shaking. More dirt fell from the ceiling and the dust was scattered in the air. It made Chuuya cover his mouth and nose with the corner of his sleeve.

Loud noises continued. The ceiling of the basement caved in a little. The ground shaking continued. The mothers in that room screamed in terror and hugged their children. All oil lamps were turned off or overturned. And the darkness swallowed all the light in a fraction of a second and gave fear to the people in the underground. Many voices could be heard from around. Like crying and sobbing. Desperate moans and heavy breathing: "I can't see! I can't see anything!"

"The light! Where is the light?! Someone find the light!"

"Mommy, I'm scared!"

" Help... I can't make it anymore! I can't breathe! Please let me go out! I'm suffocating here!"

Chuuya coughed in stress and wiped the sweat from his forehead with his trembling hands. He could feel intense heat coming out of his body. Almost two or three minutes passed until someone found an oil lamp and turned it on.

Then a voice was heard from outside the building: "Dear listeners... the status is white. You can leave the shelter." Hearing this message, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Chuuya pressed his head against the wall behind him and closed his eyes with a frown. The bombing was over and Osamu still hadn't arrived. He didn't want to think about bad things, but the knots in his stomach didn't allow him to control what he was thinking. An alpha tried to open the shelter door but to his surprise, it was stuck!

It seemed that one of the bombs had exploded near the house where they were been and destroyed it. Now they were stuck under the ruined house. Many people in the shelter began to cry, "We are trapped! We are gonna die here! God, please help us!" Chuuya fearfully hugged his rather bulging belly and panted. This couldn't be the end. He would eventually die from lack of oxygen here.

Due to the shaking of the ground and the collapse of the roof, there was a lot of dust in the remaining air. Many old people were already coughing. Chuuya looked around a bit, but because he was still in shock and fear, he couldn't accurately count the number of people there. But he guessed that there were about thirty people. If no one found them, they would surely die within an hour. He didn't want to make himself worry. Because he knew that Osamu was still out of there and he would save him.

A few Alphas and Betas who were there tried to pull the door. But they didn't succeed. Someone suggested that they set fire to the door with the amount of oil they had left in the lamps. However, this suggestion was quickly rejected: "It doesn't work like this! Someone has to push the structure aside and open the door!"

"How? This house is far far away from other shelters! I don't think anyone realizes that we are stuck here. "

Chuuya tried his best to speak. Although he could barely get the words out through his clenched teeth: "M...my husband...my husband out...he knows I'm here...he'll come here..."
A young Omega, who was holding his baby to his chest, raised his head and whispered with tears: "God, help us!" Time passed. Chuuya expected more than half an hour. But no one's voice was heard from anywhere outside those four walls.

No one came. Red-haired Omega didn't want to lose hope. He didn't want to believe that his husband had died in that bombing and now he was going to die along with his unborn baby. The people in the basement were very disturbed. They talked loudly, tried to give each other hope and think together.

An elderly Beta, who had been staring at the door with a frown, finally lost patience and shouted, "Help! We're here! Help! Help!" The others stared at him in dismay. However, some people joined him. Chuuya also started screaming with others. They shouted for more than ten minutes. But the only answer they got was silence. Chuuya pulled a handful of his hair in stress. His mouth was dry and his throat was burning. The amount of air there was decreasing moment by moment. Red-haired Omega could feel it. He felt that the air wasn't gathering properly in his chest. He felt that his body was on fire. Like here was a stone on his chest that was getting heavier by the minute.

The cries for help went on for a long time until, finally, many people lowered their voices in desperation. One of the Omegas grabbed her hair with both hands and gritted her teeth in horror: "Now we're all going to suffocate!"

The others didn't say anything and a few of the women tried to calm that Omega down so she wouldn't waste her air while yelling. When everyone fell silent, Chuuya stared at the door and swallowed hard. The burning sensation in his throat increased. He moved closer to the door and said: "Osamu! I know you're out there and you're not dead yet! So come and take me out of here! I'm suffocating in the dust and darkness! Osamu! Where are you?!" But he didn't hear any answer.

Chuuya shouted again, and finally, several Omegas tried desperately to calm him down when suddenly a boy's voice came from the other side of the walls: "Chuuya-san? You are there!?" Hearing that familiar voice, Chuuya quickly stood up, freed himself from the arms of the other Omegas, and said: "Haru. Haru is that you?"

"Yes, Chuuya-san.. are you okay?"

"Haru..go tell your mom we're stuck here. Tell him to come and help us. Hurry up! We're suffocating here!"

"Okay!"

Finally, after a long time when many people were in a state of lethargy, a loud voice was heard from outside the walls: "We are here for help! Don't worry! We will get you out." Everyone sighed in relief. Loud noises could be heard from outside, and finally, the basement door opened, and fresh air flowed into the room. The people of the village, whose clothes and faces were covered with dirt, came out. There was a large crowd around them because the house was completely destroyed and they needed a lot of people to move the pieces. However, Chuuya's eyes were only looking for his Alpha. Finally, he saw him from a distance and their eyes locked for a moment.

Seeing his mate, Dazai rushed towards him and grabbed his shoulders, "Oh Chuuya! Are you alright?" Omega looked at him with his lightless eyes. He was tired, dirty, and angry. The sclera of his eyes was red and his throat was burning from screaming. His hair was messy as well. His face was the same. Dazai lowered his head to examine him. He ran his hands over the vital parts of his body, especially his bulging belly: "I'm so glad that you and little one are doing well.." Chuuya gritted his teeth angrily and then raised his hand and slapped his husband's wet face hard. Of course, at that moment, he didn't care much why Dazai was like a mouse that had been in the rain for an hour and water was dripping from the tips of his hair and the corners of his kimono: "Bastard! Do you know how scared I was?!"

The brunette Alpha blinked in surprise and took a step back while rubbing his cheek. While his eyes were filled with tears, Omega ran towards him and hugged him tightly: "I thought you were dead! Do you know how much I called you? Why didn't you come to the shelter?"

Dazai sighed loudly and didn't move. Of course, he didn't push Omega away either: "Actually, when I left the house, a bomb exploded nearby. So I jumped into the well in our yard and waited until the bombing was over." Chuuya looked at him with shock and fear. He examined him from the tip of his hair to his feet: "You jumped into the well?! What if you were injured?! Or what if you couldn't come up from there? How could you be so stupid?!" Dazai only smiled a little in response and said: "The important thing is that all three of us are safe now, right?"

Chuuya reluctantly shook his head and bowed slightly: "Right."

___________✿✿✿___________

Chuuya never thought that on the night that he felt he was going to taste the cup of death, he would be able to calmly stare at his own image in the broken mirror of his house. His belly was still growing and his hands and feet were swollen. He sighed and stroked his belly. By feeling a weak kick, a faint smile formed on his lips. He was forming a new life in himself, which was born from his and his husband's love and was supposed to make them happy. But he didn't know how their situation in the war was going to determine the fate of this child.

War comes, kills, and goes. That was the only thing that Omega learned these years. If he was about to die today, he would definitely die next time. His hands were still shaking and his mind was racing with the memories of those scenes. He closed his eyes and frowned. He bite his lower lip and then left the room and looked at his husband who was covering the broken windows with cardboard and tape. He said while going to the kitchen: "What a disaster!"

Dazai replied: "Don't worry. I'll get new glasses tomorrow. But for now, these are better than nothing." Omega nodded and poured two cups of tea into the dishes. He went back in the living room which was almost destroyed. The bomb that fell near their house had terrible effects. Their windows were broken. Their vases were also destroyed. Their TV was turned into pieces. And the sign that displayed their marriage bond in Tokonoma was gone, along with the only photo they had. It was Dazai and Chuuya's wedding photo and it had a special meaning for both of them. But now Dazai's face was pierced and it was worthless.

Red-haired Omega didn't want to throw it away, so he put it in their small cupboard. But now Tokonoma was full of emptiness and no longer looked beautiful. Chuuya placed the tray of cups on the short base table and sat down on a Zaisu: "Come here and rest a bit. You worked so hard today." Dazai walked towards him reluctantly and sighed. Then he threw himself onto another Zaisu right in front of him: "Thanks.. where did you find these cups?"

"Atsushi gave me these. Along with two bowls for us to eat in. He's stored some essentials in his basement." Dazai put his elbows on the table with a long sigh and said:" So that's why he never comes to the other shelters. He and Haru are probably safer there. " He closed his eyes and took a deep breath: "Akutagawa really knows how to protect his family even in his absence. " Chuuya's shoulders tensed: "Hey! It's no one's fault that our house doesn't have a basement!" The brunette Alpha frowned a little and put his hand under his chin while be was staring at the tea leaves floating in his cup: "I didn't mean that."

The red-haired Omega extended his hand. So that he can touch his Alpha's free hand: "Hey.. look.. me and the little one are okay. We are fine now.." Dazai also took his hand and squeezed it tightly: "But what if Haru didn't find you there? it would__"

"It wouldn't happen. Because you were coming after me, weren't you?"

Dazai shook his head uncertainly: "Yeah..." Then he gave another squeeze to his Omega's hand: "I'm thinking about leaving here. I want to send you to the capital." Chuuya's eyes widened in surprise: "What? Why do you mean? I don't know where else to go. You don't want to leave me do you?" Dazai frowned sadly and said: "It's not safe here, Chuuya! You almost died today!"

"I can't leave my home, Osamu!"

"Think about our baby, Chuuya. They are not safe here!"

"Then in that case, many other Omegas are here who are pregnant or have little children. But they don't go. No. They don't leave their homes, and they don't fear the enemy."

"It's not about fear or cowardice. It's about your own safety!"

"No one is safe in the city either. They bomb there too."

"Don't be stupid, Chuuya, I follow the war news carefully. If the enemy tries to enter the airspace of the capital, they will be arrested by armed forces."

"I won't leave, Osamu!"

And then a heavy silence filled the space. With a look of despair, Dazai lowered his head and said with a frown: "Then let me go to the battlefield." Hearing this, Chuuya blushed with anger and shouted: "Have you lost your mind?! I'm pregnant you idiot!" Dazai gritted his teeth in anger and released his bitter pheromones that were caused by his frustration: "Chuuya, I can't just be here with you and do nothing! I can't let those bastards destroy our lives."

"Being here with me is kind of a fight, Osamu."
Hearing this made Dazai's anger erupt like a volcano. He squeezed his mate's hand and shouted loudly: "Oh? Is it a fight to have my life explode and my household furniture broken? Or to have my pregnant mate stuck in a half-ruined shelter? It's not a fight. You just put yourself and your life at risk." Red-haired Omega frowned and raised his head: "Running away or jumping into danger is not fighting as well!"

Dazai let Chuuya's hand go with anger:"This is stupid! You want me to stay here and do nothing. You want me to let those bastards destroy our lives? Do you want to risk our baby's future? Do you want our country to be destroyed? Do you know how many children have been killed or homeless during this time? Those who are hungry and have no food. We have lost many soldiers in the battlefield, and no one is trying to stop this hell hole. But you are so selfish that you only see yourself and your family!" Chuuya tried desperately to calm him down:" No, you're wrong, that's not what I meant." Suddenly a knock on their door, broke the tension between them. Dazai raised an eyebrow and turned his head to look at the clock on the wall whose glass was broken. Then, he snapped with a voice full of disgust: "Who wants to see us at 9pm?"

Chuuya just shrugged silently and let out a breath when his husband left the house to open the door from the yard. He stroked his belly. Maybe Osamu was right and he shouldn't have risked the life of an unborn baby. He knew that Osamu was only concerned about him and his child's health. He just wanted his Omega and pup to be safe. But Chuuya didn't want to leave his home and go to a place he hated with all his heart. He didn't want to leave his village, where he grew up since childhood, and go to a completely strange and crowded place where he doesn't know anyone. He didn't want to be locked in a small, multi-story house without a yard and smell the city's dirty and polluted air with car smoke.

He was in such thoughts when Dazai opened Washitsu's sliding door violently and said:"Chuuya! Get up. The Status is Yellow. Atsushi asked us to go to his house. So if something happened, we would go to his shelter. Red-haired Omega quickly got up. Thinking about another bombing was unprecedented that day. He asked: "Is the status yellow? So why we didn't figure out anything?"

" Mom heard the news on the radio," Haru replied as he tugged on Dazai's kimono sleeve to get them to move:" Be quick! Hurry up!" And then the three of them went to Atsushi's house, which was about five minutes away. Atsushi was standing in front of the courtyard door. Waiting for them. He quickly ushered them in and closed the door: " Hurry Hurry.. Come in."

As they walked into the living room, Chuuya began to grumble:"Unbelievable, Atsushi! You sent your son out at night in a yellow Status!? Don't you realize how dangerous it is?! Haru is only seven!"  Atsushi answered with a frown:"Yes, I was very stupid ... but I was afraid to leave him alone at home and come after you myself."

Dazai looked at Chuuya with a smirk: "Look who says he has to take care of his child ..." Red-haired Omega stared at him with a deep frown. He didn't want to involve Atsushi in their discussions. So he silenced him with a scary look. Atsushi had noticed the tension between them, so to change the topic, he showed Dazai his small radio:"It was working until a few minutes ago. I don't know why it suddenly stopped. Can you fix it?" The brunette alpha took the small iron box from him and said:"Let me see." Meanwhile, Haru sat next to Chuuya and asked, "Chuuya-san... when is that little one coming out?"

"Almost a month and a half more..."

"Oh! How long.. Can I touch it?" Atsushi frowned and said with red cheeks:"No! You can't ask for that!" But Chuuya just laughed:"It's okay Atsushi-kun.. I think Haru deserves an award for saving me." Atsushi closed his eyes worriedly and stroked his son's hair as Haru curiously placed a hand on Chuuya's belly:"I'm really glad he found you in time. You thirty people were in that shelter for four hours. Oh ..Mr.Tanaka! That old man's house was so unstable! Everyone told him to ruin it before someone got killed. But after his death, he gave that house to the people of the village to use as a shelter. I feel that he wanted to take some other people with him to that world. I don't know why you didn't come to us or Auntie Kouyou instead. You know we don't have any problem with you."

Chuuya frowned and by remembering the four-hour waiting that seemed four years, his body hair stood on end:"Honestly, I just wanted to Go to a safe place. My mind wasn't working properly." Atsushi nodded:"I understand." Chuuya asked:"How is Akutagawa?" The white-haired Omega gathered himself a little and said: "He is fine. He sends me a letter almost every month. He doesn't say much, but he always mentions that he is not hurt and where he is. In his last letter, he said that he and his unit were going to send to the northern battlefield. He said not to worry and the operation will go well."

Feeling a small kick, Haru pulled his hand back quickly and broke the conversation between them:" Wha! They kick." Chuuya laughed in response: "Yes... they kick a lot. "

"Doesn't it hurt?" asked the White-haired pup.

" No, it just feels weird. "

Haru stared at the bump in surprise for a few seconds before sighing in relief:"Oh, I'm so glad I wasn't like this myself." Atsushi smirked and replied:"Heh.. I bet you were worse than Chuuya-san's baby..." Chuuya smirked:"Oh come on Atsushi-kun.. You can't compare our pregnancies." Atsushi was about to object when the loud hiss of the radio thrumming filled the living room. Three heads turned to Dazai:“Oh, sorry. But I fixed it. " He set the radio to a channel that was only for military personnel. As Atsushi's Alpha, who was currently on the battlefield, his family could use these facilities: "Enemy planes in orbit**** and***** have been seen. Cover precautions and critical actions!"

But suddenly the news changed:"The operation in the northern region failed! The enemy completely destroyed the battlefield forces of our northern region with about six thousand dead, two thousand wounded and one thousand three hundred prisoners. The **** unit is almost destroyed and we need to send troops back to resupply. It has been decided that the soldiers will go to their hometowns for three days and return to the northern region after rest and rejuvenation. Hoping for the end of the war!"

Atsushi's eyes widened upon hearing this news and Chuuya could clearly see his body shaking. Haru tugged on the sleeve of his mother's Yukata and asked in an uncertain tone:"Mom? That unit, wasn't it the same unit that Dad was in?" While staring at the ground, white-haired Omega moistened his lower lip with his tongue and answered in a whisper: "Yes.. yes it was.."

Chuuya's heart sank for a moment. Surely, hearing the news about the destruction of his husband's unit and the high number of dead, prisoners, and wounded makes him feel sick. Atsushi's face had turned white like a ghost, and his heterochromatic eyes weren't moving from the scratches on the wall of his house. His hands were starting to sweat and his lips were trembling. Seeing such a scene, Dazai frowned and said:"Atsushi.. are you okay?"

The white-haired didn't answer him. He just swallowed and closed his eyes tightly. Chuuya walked over to Atsushi grabbed both of his shoulders and rubbed them:"Hey, hey, calm down. There is nothing to worry about. Akutagawa is definitely alive. I'm sure you will see him soon. " Atsushi was trying to keep his composure for his son and his guests. he replied with a shaky voice:"I know..." The red-haired Omega tried to release the pressure on his chest with a long sigh. Then he said:"I'm sure he's fine. If he was killed, we should have heard about it by now. " Haru asked in horror: "Dad is dead?!"

His words disturbed white-haired Omega's calmness. He opened his eyes and shouted loudly at his son: "Of course not!"

Dazai put the small radio aside with a frown. He scratched his head: "From the beginning of the war, Mori-san told me that the statistics of the dead were given to their families, along with the soldiers returning from the battlefield when they were on leave. That means you have to wait until tomorrow. There is no use in unnecessary mourning." Atsushi frowned: "I don't mourn! I'm just worried! "

Chuuya sighed:"Be sure he'll be back tomorrow." Haru asked with a thick frown on his face: "How do you know?" Chuuya answered:"Because I know! Those monsters can't kill your father!" Atsushi took Haru's arm with a frown and pulled him towards him: "Hey! Don't tell him that!"

The white-haired pup, who was very confused and sad because of the tension between the adults, filled his eyes with tears and clung to his mother. Normally, his mother would have kicked him away, but this time he opened his arms to hug his son and stroke his silver hair. Then Atsushi shrugged his shoulders to get Chuuya's hands off of them. Dazai and Chuuya exchanged worried looks and said nothing. Until another radio voice broke the silence of the space: "The status of the **** circuit is white, but it is yellow in the **** and **** circuits."

Red-haired Omega closed his eyes and breathed calmly through his nostrils. He was glad that at least the status was white for them and their stress wasn't going to increase.

He lightly rubbed the back of Atsushi who was still holding the sulking Haru in his arms and listened to the muffled whispers of his friend as he buried his face in his son's hair. Dazai stood up and placed the radio on the table:"Looks like the danger is over. Thanks for everything. We're leaving." Chuuya turned his head to him and said:"We're leaving?! Don't even think about it, Osamu. We'll stay with Atsushi tonight. If we're not here, he'll die because of the sadness!"
Atsushi raised his head and wiped the tears from the corner of his eyes:" Oh no, there's no need, Chuuya-san.. we'll be fine. You're pregnant and you've had a rough day. You need to rest."

"I have rested enough. Your condition is more critical now. It is better to stay with you. Probably until tomorrow when the injured soldiers return." Hearing the word injured, Atsushi held his son closer to him and shivered a little. Dazai took Chuuya's hand and said: "Maybe that's not a good idea, Chuuya.. Maybe Atsushi and Haru need some space." But Atsushi turned his head slightly with a sad smile and said:"Oh, no it's fine. Your presence in this situation gives me hope. "

___________✿✿✿___________

For adding more security, they left the radio on and locked the courtyard door. Because there were more robbers in that area recently. However, Chuuya wasn't worried about his own house because it was destroyed in the bombing, and they had nothing but some porridge, a double futon, a table, and some Zaisus. However, he asked Dazai to go back to their house and get their double futon so they wouldn't ruin Akutagawa and Atsushi's scent from their own futons. However, Dazai told him that this was a stupid idea and Atsushi assured him that it was okay and they had an extra futon.

Now, Chuuya was staring at his mate, Dazai, on the small balcony of Atsushi's house. The cold breeze winds through his brown hair and dances between the strands while the coldness was playing on his skin. Chuuya opened Fusuma's door and said: "Osamu... It's cold. Come in..." Dazai lowered his head with a loud sigh but didn't turn towards him: "I don't think he will come back."

"What do you mean?" The young alpha let out the hot steam in his chest and turned his head to Chuuya:"Before he left, he said he had a minor injury that he didn't tell Atsushi about. He said it was very likely to cause him trouble on the battlefield. But because it's not serious, they don't send him for treatment," Chuuya blinked in surprise. And then, he grabbed his husband's wrist: "Don't say that! He'll definitely come back. Come inside, it's cold." Dazai tried to pull himself back with a moan: "Oh no! It's too hot inside."

Although his mate was stronger than him and pulled him inside. The futons were spread out on the floor and everyone were ready to sleep. But Atsushi wasn't anywhere. "Where's your mom?" Chuuya asked as he lay down next to Dazai. "He went to the bathroom," Haru answered. Dazai and Chuuya looked at each other. And then, they look at the small oil lamp that Atsushi had to take with him to the yard. Dazai said:"I think you should go after him." The red-haired Omega nodded and stood up with the help of his husband. He took the oil lamp and left the house.

The yard in front of Akutagawa's house wasn't very big, so even in total darkness, Chuuya could see the white-haired Omega sitting on the ground. Although the faint light of the cigarette in his hand had helped him in finding him. Chuuya sighed and walked over and sat quietly next to him. Atsushi said nothing. But he turned his head and sobbed while putting the cigarette to his lips. Chuuya stared down at his knees and whispered:“I didn't think you smoke.” In their village, the Omegas were practically not allowed to smoke or take any other drugs. Because many believe that using drugs, even on a very small scale, affects their fertility, and they will never be able to have children. At the beginning of Chuuya's marriage, Dazai had somehow threatened him that something bad would happen to him if he ever took drugs. Atsushi was no exception to this rule. Especially with the presence of law-abiding alphas like Akutagawa.

Atsushi stared at the cigarette for a moment before answering:"It's Ryunosuke's. He left it the last time when he was here." After a minute of silence, Atsushi asked:"Do you think my son is fatherless now? " Chuuya reached out and ran his hand through Atsushi's hair and pressed his head to his chest: "Shh... it's going to be fine. I'll bet you for 10 Yen that he'll come back." White-haired Omega hid his face in Chuuya's chest with crying. The red-haired Omega held him in the same position for a while and stroked his hair:"I wish there was no war," Atsushi sobbed as he let his tears soak on Chuuya's kimono. Chuuya replied:"It will be fine... this war will end..."

Suddenly, Atsushi lifted his head from his chest and angrily said:"No... No! This war will never end! Never! It's been eight years that we are suffering. Haru doesn't even know what a country without war looks like. My husband has been fighting on the battlefield for six years. All our neighbors have left here. I have no more rice and I don't know what to do after the porridge is finished. Now even I don't know if my husband is alive or not! Those stupid politicians don't care about the ordinary people who are dying here. Half of our country is taken! We can't even leave this village!" Chuuya blinked: "What do you mean we can't leave?"

"A few kilometers ahead of this village, it has turned into a battlefield. To get out of here and go to other cities, we have to pass through the middle of the battlefield." Chuuya blinked with surprise. He felt that fear was cooperating with the cold air to make his body hair stand on end: "You mean we are surrounded now?! How did they get here?" With a loud sigh, Atsushi exhaled some smoke and muttered:"We're kind of surrounded. They haven't attacked yet. It's scary! " Chuuya frowned and stared at his belly:"Osamu wanted to send me to the city,"

"We wanted to go five months ago. But we stopped because of the great danger involved. I was a fool! I told Ryunosuke that there was no rush to leave and that could wait until he came back again. I thought maybe until then, our forces could push them back. But it was just an empty dream."

Chuuya gently moved some of Atsushi's white hair behind his ear:"Don't say that.. I think thinking about these things will only make you worse. Get up.. Let's go back inside. It's too cold." Atsushi got up and threw the cigarette on the ground and kicked it. Then he helped Chuuya to stand up. Although Chuuya kept shaking his head and saying:"Oh, don't worry about me." However, Atsushi went straight to the bathroom and wet his face and neck. When Chuuya gave him a questioning look, he said:"What? I have to hide the smell of cigarettes."

"You know that Osamu is not sensitive about you."

"But Haru will find out. Even though he's not an alpha, he orders me just like Ryunosuke. I feel like he wants to fill his void for both of us. That's why I don't want him to feel bad about me. And he might even tell Ryunosuke. Oh He is stupid just like his father!"

"That kid has a lot of understanding, isn't he?"

"Yes.. The war raised him up more than me."
