Chapter Text
Hello fellow readers. Don Orbit here with another story of mine. This is a concept that I *unfortunately* have been sitting on for a few years now. Namely because I never got around to finishing this first chapter.
But nevertheless, here we are and unlike my Seraph of the End/Digimon story, I do fully intend on making this a fully-fledged story.
Now, admittedly this is a rather strange combination of franchises. However, if you take away all the nonsensical ecchi-ness of that manga, you end up with a relatively old concept from movies, that did work in the past. And seeing as there clearly something must have happened in that series to cause all of that, it strangely fits into the world of the ToAru franchise.
On top of that, we don't seem to have a lot of stories with Accelerator as a main character for one reason or another. I honestly don't know why that is, but I am willing to rectify this situation. That and Accelerator's immunity to ecchi stuff makes him also a good candidate for a story like this.

Insect Vector
Chapter 1: One Way Road Trip Gone Wrong… As Expected
Insect vector = a disease vector in association with insects as transmitters of insect borne diseases such as the tsetse fly or mosquitoes of the genus Anopheles (Malaria mosquitoes)
Sitting in a comfy seat with soft dark blue cloth was a thin young man dressed in a white shirt with and dark pants. Strapped to his right arm was what looked like a bracer with a hole at the end, which happened to be a crutch. His skin was sickly pale and his hair was white. Alongside his red eyes, he looked like a normal albino person.
He was the first ranked esper of Academy City, Accelerator. That was the name he was given by the people in Academy City. Whatever identity he had possessed before that had been long forgotten, even by himself.
On the surface Accelerator looked rather unassuming, though he did stick out due to his features. However, his body and limbs were very thin with only a minimal amount of muscles on them. He looked almost as if a strong wind could just knock him over. Not exactly how most people would envision the most powerful esper to look like. That was only strengthened by the fact that apparently a level 0 managed to beat him and ever since receiving a bullet to the head, which he miraculously survived, he was now walking with a crutch. Truly there must have been some sort of error when appointing him to be the strongest.
This was of course all just what many assumed, because Accelerator's true strength laid in two other aspects. One was his ESP ability, vector manipulation. What sounded rather strange to most uneducated people was in reality an incredibly versatile power. A vector being a theoretical unit consisting of a point, force and direction could basically describe any force in the world. And Accelerator had an almost perfect control over these vectors as long as he was in physical contact with them.
This power however could only be possible due to Accelerator's second ace, one completely unrelated to his ESP power. And that was his intelligence. In order to calculate all the vectors just for Accelerator's unconscious vector manipulation, which shielded him from harmful vectors, in the split seconds that it would take for a bullet to hit him, his brain just needed to process the formula in that time. And that was only the calculations he did without even thinking about it. In truth, Accelerator's brain was in terms of capacity on par with a super computer.
With all of this, Accelerator should be invincible to the point where the very idea of someone or something forcing him to do something against his will seemed idiotic. The whole notion of fighting him and coming out as the victor seemed delusional under such an aspect. And Accelerator was also not exactly known throughout Academy City to hold back in the case some unfortunate fool tried to bargain their way out after realizing what sort of mistake they made when fighting him.
So why…
Why was he stuck on an air plane alongside Last Order, Worst and another Misaka clone? Why was he on that plane in the first place?
It was indeed very strange for the albino esper to be outside of Academy City. And yet, here he was. Sitting next to the window in a normal passenger plane. Next to him sat Last Order, while behind her Misaka Worst was seated. Behind Accelerator himself sat another Misaka clone with the serial number 10046. This had been done before the flight to ensure that Worst was definitely not sitting behind him again as she had spent the previously flight with kicking his seat in the back like some child to annoy him and he was most definitely not going through that again.
'Tch! It's all because of that hag Yomikawa. Just wait until I get back.' Accelerator thought to himself as he recalled how all of this started.
-Flashback - 3 weeks ago-
"Vacation?" Accelerator parroted the word as if it was something he had never heard of before, while Yomikawa and Yoshikawa smiled at the boy.
Yomikawa Aiho was a middle-aged woman with long black hair tied into a ponytail. She worked as a PE teacher at one of the high schools in Academy City and lived in an apartment together with her friend Yoshikawa Kikyou as well as Accelerator, Last Order and Worst while the two older women were their guardians. In contrast to her, Yoshikawa had short black hair with a straight cut around the height of her neck. Additionally, while Yomikawa wore a green jersey, hugging her well endowed chest tightly, Yoshikawa wore a white lab coat and a plain white shirt as she was rather average in terms of proportions, but no less pretty.
The Yomikawa residence was rather spacious and large enough to accommodate the mismatched family of 5, but then again the Family Side apartment complex was meant for teachers to live there with their families of up to 4 people. Before taking Yoshikawa, Accelerator and Last Order in, Yomikawa had been living by herself.
"That's right. It's about time that you get out of the city for once and do something else than just laying on the couch and drinking coffee." Yoshikawa said as she sat at the kitchen table.
"I don't want to hear that from the freeloader." Accelerator replied. "Plus, I do go out, remember? That's how the brat got here." He said, not even bothering to look at the brat in question behind him.
""Hey! Misaka takes great offense in this!" Says Misaka as Misaka rages!" Last Order exclaimed while flaying her arms and legs around as she sat on the couch.
"I was referring to the other one." Accelerator said in a bored tone, before looking at Worst, who simply smiled mischievously at the remark.
"Oi, you want a fight with Misaka now, tou-san?" Worst asked as the tension between her and Accelerator started to rise as the albino shot her a glare over his shoulder. Most other people in the city probably would be thinking about running away as fast as they could from him, but Worst's smile only grew into a smirk.
The two girls were clones of the 3rd ranked level 5 esper Misaka Mikoto "Railgun". As such they looked quite alike, but due to their circumstances they both were a lot different. Last Order appeared to be a 10 years old version of Railgun, though unlike the original her auburn hair featured an ahoge on top of her head. She was wearing a sky blue dress with white polka dots on it.
Worst was physically older than the original to the point that she looked like a Misaka Mikoto in her highschool years, but not even a year old and ironically making her younger than Last Order. She was wearing a white and pink áo dài, which Yoshikawa had given her. Still, she was about the same height as the original Railgun, though she pointed out to be about 2 or 3 centimeters taller than her, additionally to her larger bust size. Something that Last Order and probably other clones of Misaka and most likely the original were jealous about.
Not that Accelerator cared about such a thing in the first place nor did he wish to entertain her any further. Instead, the white haired boy turned back to the two older women in the apartment, earning a proud huff from Worst.
"Do you honestly think they are just going to let me leave? I'm still the number 1 esper here. No way they'd be foolish enough to let me roam the world freely." Accelerator questioned as he was 100% sure that just asking for a trip out of Academy City would not be as easy as to ask nicely for him.
"Let that be my problem, so don't worry." Yomikawa said with a smile, giving Accelerator a thumbs up, who couldn't help but look blankly at her.
"For some reason I get a feeling that doesn't mean anything good." He told her, but the others ignored him.
"Alright then, it's settled. You and the girls go on a vacation." Yoshikawa said.
""YAY!" Misaka cheers as Misaka is excited for the vacation!" Last Order happily jumped around like a rubber ball, annoying both Accelerator and Worst with her antics.
*KNOCK KNOCK*
"Huh?" Accelerator turned to the door as the sudden noise even made Last Order stop. Yoshikawa just walked to the door.
"Looks like she's here." The scientist said as she opened the door. Standing there was another clone, though this time a regular one looking almost identical to the original Railgun, except for the pair of goggles on her head. "You're a bit earlier than we expected you to be here. Come in."
""Misaka apologizes for the intrusion." Says Misaka as she enters. "Misaka was able to catch a bus earlier than expected." Explains Misaka." The clone said as she did as she said. The reactions from the other residents were mixed. Yomikawa and Last Order smiled, Worst rose an eyebrow at this and Accelerator just narrowed his eyes already feeling the next headache approach.
"What's one of the sisters doing here?" He asked.
"Oi, Misaka is also here." Worst interjected, but Accelerator didn't choose to reply.
""I see, Accelerator doesn't remember." Says Misaka slightly saddened by being forgotten. "This Misaka's serial number is 10046. You saved this Misaka some time ago during the incident at which Misaka was kidnapped." Elaborates Misaka, hoping it helps you remember this particular Misaka." The clone said. Accelerator remembered that incident of course. How could he not remember that bastard trying to make level 6 using the memories of the clones he had killed. It also didn't help that some annoying necromancer girl had been begging him to be her master throughout that whole incident.
"That still doesn't explain why you are here." He says, before turning to Yomikawa. "What is the meaning of this?"
"Simple, I called her to accompany you during your trip." Yomikawa said with a smile.
"Why?" Accelerator inquired as he felt his eyebrow twitching in annoyance.
"Because you need to make some friends and the best way to do that would be to someone, who actually would like to spend some time with you." Yoshiwaka says, nudging 10046 a little, making her look away with her face turning slightly pink.
"T-That is not true at all." Misaka mutters." The clone said, suddenly finding the floor rather interesting as she refused to look at the two women or Accelerator. ""Mi-Misaka simply wanted to go outside of the city and was asked by chance." Misaka lies about the second part, hoping to avoid further inquiring on the subject." While Yomikawa and Yoshikawa shared a knowing look, Last Order apparently caught on as she looked with an open mouth and wide eyes at the older clone. Meanwhile, Worst was still looking at the other clone with a raised eyebrow, though the corners of her mouth moved upward to a mischievous smile, clearly plotting something in that mind of hers regarding this newfound information. The only one who didn't catch it and/or didn't care about it was Accelerator, who was just absorbing the situation.
"Forget it. I'm not the type to go travelling around the world on a whim like that. Plus, I'd rather not having to watch 3 brats at the same time while doing so." He said dismissively.
"Oh come on. You'll be fine." Yomikawa said.
""But Misaka really wants to go." Says Misaka as Misaka nagging you to in hopes that you give in." Last Order jumped from the couch and latched herself onto Accelerator's leg at this. ""Misaka won't let go until you agree to the vacation!" Misaka proclaims as Misaka clings to you with puppy dog eyes trying to get you to agree." She said as Accelerator just looked at her in annoyance.
"Get off me brat! I'm not in the mood for stupid games." He said.
""No!" Misaka whines as Misaka refuses to let go in hopes to make you change your mind." Last Order said. After about 5 minutes of Last Order repeating the word "vacation" loudly over and over again, Accelerator facepalmed with a sigh, giving up.
"Ugh! Fine..." He said finally caving.
""HOORAY!" Misaka cheers as Misaka can't contain her excitement." Last Order said as she let go of Accelerator's leg and ran to her room. ""Misaka must prepare!" Says Misaka as Misaka determined to make this the best vacation ever." Yoshikawa sighed.
"I'll have to go shopping with them anyway to pick out some stuff for the trip anyway, so don't worry about that." She told Accelerator as she walked after Last Order.
'What the hell, would I be worrying about? Some stupid frog shaped floatie?' He thought to himself.
""Misaka will help." Says Misaka to prepare for it as well." Misaka 10046 said as she followed Yoshikawa into Last Order's room. The level 5 esper in question just clicked his tongue in annoyance at that. Worst just chuckled to herself as she looked at Accelerator.
"What are you so smug about?" He asked annoyed as the outlet of the Misaka Network's negative emotions smirked at him almost playfully.
"Oh nothing. Misaka is just looking forward to all the fun Misaka's going to have with tou-san." She replied as she laid on the couch with her head propped up on one hand with her elbow on the cushions. Accelerator only felt another headache approach for whatever prank she was cooking up in that screwed up brain of hers.
"What a pain." He muttered to himself, before he looked at Yomikawa. "And where is that vacation even supposed to be?"
"Oh just something normal for this time of the year." Yomikawa said.
-Flashforward a week-
Yomikawa had not been wrong. Going to the beach was pretty normal for a summer vacation. The weather was nice and warm, but not scorching hot. The wind was cool, but not freezing. The current was nice as well with some waves crashing onto the beach, but nothing too large to prevent people or at least those that couldn't swim from going in. All in all, it was a perfect day on a clean, sandy beach.
What Yomikawa had apparently omitted to tell them was that she had booked the rooms for the 4 of the espers in some expensive hotel right at the coast. Not that Accelerator minded, but he was pretty sure, that his guardian either did some shady business or she asked Yoshikawa to hack into the servers of the hotel to get them reservations. He found the latter more likely to believe.
Speaking of the devil, Accelerator basically hogged the shadow under the parasol as he was sitting on the beach. It wasn't like he had anything against being exposed to sunlight, but he also didn't want to use up all of the battery's power in his choker up on shielding himself from UV radiation and heat. Due to the fact that his body had never really produced melanin in order to shield him from the UV rays, because of his passive vector reflection, he was rather fast to get a sunburn. So he opted to just put the sunscreen on himself already at the hotel, before departing with the others.
The location Yomikawa had picked out was nice enough. Next to the, there was also plenty of stalls to get something to bite or buy souvenirs and other places for poor tourists to lose their money on worthless stuff. But that was how it was with popular places for tourism. And he didn't exactly like it. Especially when he wanted to keep his profile as low as possible. Vacations were meant to be a relaxing time, so the last thing he needed was some scumbag or whatever trying to mess with him, just because someone saw him on someone else's pictures on social media.
And just as he thought about relaxing, he then noticed a group of shadows towering over him as they stood in front of the parasol.
""Do you plan to stay here all day?" Asks Misaka as Misaka points her finger accusingly at you and waiting for an answer." Accelerator looked up to see the three Misaka clones look at him, while Last Order had one hand on her hip and the other pointing at his face, while pouting.
Last Order was wearing a one-piece swimsuit looking just like her usual summer dress. Its material was sky blue with white polka dots on it, while also being frilly at the lower half. Apparently, Yoshikawa just bought her something that looked similar to her usual stuff, though it might also be that she had to literally drag her out of the clothing store to prevent her from also going for a gekota themed swimsuit. Though, there was also a Gekota shaped float ring she had bought for either Last Order or 10046 to use. Accelerator had no idea about swimsuits in the first place, so when Worst asked Accelerator to accompany them, he flat out refused because he knew that she was just looking for some way to get under his skin.
Speaking of which, the level 5 turned his attention from the small clone to the other two sisters standing behind Last Order. 10046 and Worst were both wearing bikinis, but looked very different from one another despite being clones of the same person. Misaka 10046 was grabbing her arm and refused to meet Accelerator's gaze, faintly blushing and clearly not comfortable with him looking at her in her current state of dress. Her bikini was white with horizontal blue stripes.
On the other hand, Worst stood tall and proud with a hand on her hips as she smiling mischievously at Accelerator, completely lacking 10046's discomfort. Her bikini was basically the same as 10046, but it was completely dark blue in color. On top of that, due to Worst's body being biologically more mature than 10046's despite being younger, she also filled her bikini out more which likely only added to her confidence.
In the meantime, Accelerator himself wore a plain white shirt and black and white swimming trunks, which Yomikawa had insisted to buy for him as he was going to the beach so he may as well have something to swim in.
"What if I was? I'm not a kid, that builds sand castles after all." He said. "Plus, I'm not one for swimming."
""But we are at a beach, so we have to do beach things!" Misaka exclaims as Misaka tries to convince you to leave the parasol's shadow." Last Order said with a pout on her face.
""Misaka also thinks that it wouldn't do you much harm to leave the shadows." Says Misaka as she looks away embarrassed at her current state of clothing." 10046 said, throwing her own two cents into the ring. ""A lack of Vitamin D can be quite harmful to your health." Adds Misaka as she tries to persuade you."
"Not a chance." Accelerator refused bluntly. Last Order looked at him disappointed as her ahoge seemingly dropped, before 10046 spoke up.
""Then, we will have some fun by ourselves." Misaka says as she grabs Last Order's hand in encouragement, hiding her disappointment." She said. This caused the younger girl to brighten up immediately.
""Umu. Umu. Let's go!" Misaka cheers as Misaka drags her sister off to fun." And with that Last Order grabbed her gekoda floatie made her way to the water line alongside 10046. That left only one clone with Accelerator.
"What do you want?" Accelerator asked irritated, knowing fully well that Worst was already hatching the next plan to get under his skin. Something that the smile on her face turning into a grin betrayed quite well.
"Oh nothing really. Just wanted to ask tou-san how you like Misaka's swimsuit." She said.
'Of course, she'd say something like that.' The number 1 esper thought already feeling the next headache approach. "It's decent." Was all he said to avoid any further conversation with the clone.
"That's good enough, Misaka guesses." And before he knew it Worst laid down on the towel next to him. She was not in the parasol's shadow, but still laying close enough for her to reach him by simply stretching her arm out. "Though you could do Misaka a favor."
"What do you-" And before the sentence left Accelerator's mouth he saw Worst smirking at him as she laid on her towel with back upwards and her undoing the clasp that held the top piece in place, revealing her bare back to him. "Huh?"
"What do you mean with "huh"? Misaka's asking you to put the sun screen on Misaka's back." She said with smirk, that clearly betrayed her motives to watch him be uncomfortable and squirm. Instead, Accelerator looked back to the water line to see Last Order and the normal sister building a sand castle. This didn't stop Worst though as her smirk grew at his reaction. "What's that? Did tou-san think Misaka asked for something indecent?"
"Do it yourself. Or ask the others. I'm not going to fall for a trap that obvious." He said sternly.
"Oh and what kind of trap do you think that is, tou-san?" Worst's voice never lost that mischievous tone. This made Accelerator shut up, knowing that anything he might say would be used against him. What Accelerator could think about was Worst either doing something weird like throwing sand at his eyes or making a scene to paint him as some sort of pervert. Either case was undesirable to say the least.
After a moment of silence, Worst lost her smile as she looked a bit irritated. "You really are no fun." She then turned her head away from him.
"Get used to it." Accelerator said without any interest.
"Then again, you did walk in on the brat and the other two." Worst thought loud. Then the smile reappeared on her face. "Hehe, you really are a lolicon, right tou-san?"
"Shut up." The white-haired esper said, really starting to lose whatever patience he had at the start as he heard shuffling next to him. He was still not looking at Worst directly, but from what he saw in the periphery of his vision he saw her legs shuffling in his direction. Apparently, she was moving alongside the towel closer to him without getting up.
"Oh? You're not even denying it anymore?" She smirked up at him. Now that made Accelerator quite a bit angry as he wanted to snap at her, only stop himself in the last moment as he knew that was what she wanted.
"I'm not some third string villain, who goes after little girls." He said.
"Then why don't you prove it and stop watching little girls at the beach when Misaka is right here?" Worst asked. In response, Accelerator then simply laid down and turned his back on Worst with a scowl. Meanwhile Worst smiled the whole time with a cat like smile as she readjusted the top of her swimsuit again. 'Mmmh... What is Misaka going to do next? Perhaps put sand in tou-san's ears? Or maybe some sharp sea shells in his sandals? Misaka could also just bury them under the sand if tou-san falls asleep. Though Misaka's next move will need to be very careful and...' And as such thoughts circled in her head, Worst was already daydreaming about how to get on Accelerator's nerves, possibly even making him blush or cry.
Meanwhile Accelerator was annoyed and closed his eyes, hoping to perhaps find some peace and quiet by sleeping. The weather was nice after all and if Worst could not bother him for the next few minutes he might even fall asleep. But just as his mind began drifting away, he could hear hurried footsteps approaching the parasol.
""Look what Misaka has found!" Misaka says as Misaka proudly shows you what she and her sister have caught." Last Order called out as she was only a few meters away from the spot with 10046 following closely behind with the gekota floatie in hand. Disturbed by the commotion, both Accelerator and Worst looked at her, though Worst quickly decided that it couldn't have been interesting if Last Order got so worked up about. Meanwhile Accelerator sat up as Last Order arrived. ""Look, look!" Says Misaka as Misaka holds up her catch." And indeed, Last Order held something up in both of her hands.
It was a crab. A rather large crab, he had to admit. In fact, it looked like it was as broad as Last Order's whole face as she held it in front of her. Eight multi-jointed legs kicked the air uselessly as the brown crustacean clearly was not a fan of being held by a small child. Unable to direct its desire to break free onto its captor, the crab made now the young man its new target. Its pincers reached out to Accelerator's face, missing the tip of his nose by just a few millimetres as it tried to pinch it. Two compound eyes on stalks looked emotionlessly at the esper, while mouth pieces moved as if chewing on something.
"A crab." Was Accelerator's unenthusiastic response, but Last Order beamed.
""Yes. This is the first time Misaka sees something like that." Says Misaka as Misaka smiles to herself."
'What is she so excited about? Oh right…' Accelerator thought as he realized it. Despite being relatively normal, Last Order was not a normal child. She was still a clone made for the experiment. She never had parents nor did she had a normal childhood and she probably would never be able to live a normal life much like the other clones. And still, just like a normal child, Last Order only knew about exotic animals through television and the internet, so it was no wonder she would get excited over seeing something like that for real.
It honestly made Accelerator a bit envious. All his life he have had a target painted on his back to the point where the only thing he recalled of his childhood were basically people trying to either kill or use him. He had no normal childhood himself. So seeing Last Order, who most definitely deserved one see like this sure made him a little bit envious but slightly happy of the clone's carefree nature. Still though... she didn't need to hold it up in his face. Literally...
"Whatever. Better let it go before it pinches you or something." Accelerator said as he grabbed the crustacean by the end of one leg, before putting it down next to him, where Worst laid on her back after having scooted closer to him.
"GAH! WHAT THE HELL, TOU-SAN?!" She shouted at the sudden felt the cool and hard carapace on her hand. The crustacean now sat right on her left hand.
"..." The crab stared in silence at Worst.
"..." Worst stared in silence back at the crab.
There was an almost comical pause with the two just looking at each other, before the crab raised one arm, grabbed the clone's hand and started pinching it.
"GAAAH!"
-Flashforward to present-
The whole vacation was more or less like that, except for Accelerator throwing crustaceans at Worst and her deep frying them with her electrokinetic powers of course. The 4 espers would often spend the day at the beach with mainly the girls enjoying being at the sea instead of Academy City. Accelerator tried to be more reserved to himself, but either Last Order, 10046 or Worst dragged him along with them, making him go into the water, building sand castles or burying either of the three clones in sand. It was clear that the two older clones enjoyed the trip the most with being at the sea or collecting shells. Worst also enjoyed her stay, but mainly because she got way more opportunities to mess with Accelerator, even though not all of her attempts had worked out as she had anticipated. Much to Accelerator's annoyance, Worst had also roped 10046 into her schemes as well from time to time.
When the 4 were not at the beach, they walked around the town they were staying in, looking at things, taking pictures, eating at overpriced places, looking for souvenirs for Yomikawa and Yoshikawa. Well the clones did most of that, Accelerator mainly just tagged along to make sure they were not doing anything stupid or anyone else thought about doing anything stupid to them.
Now back on the fllight back home, the level 5 esper sighed internally for the umpteenth time as he looked out of the window of the plane. Worst was hatching some plan to annoy him. Last Order happily kicked her legs back and forth. 10046 had a small smile on her face.
'Well it was fun while it lasted...' He thought to himself as he allowed himself to relax a little bit. Soon he and the others would be back home and things would go back to normal...
That was when Accelerator noticed something outside. The plane was currently flying over the sea with only few clouds around. As such the view was practically dominated by the water at the moment. Still he saw strange shapes move further away in the distance. At first, he thought that his tired mind was just starting to play tricks on him, but he dismissed that thought almost immediately. Accelerator found himself looked at what looked like insects in the distance.
"Huh?" He said as he kept looking outside. And then he saw something move not far away from the plane. Out of one of the few small clouds near the plane, once of these things flying, seemingly paying no heed to the plane itself. Indeed, the thing he saw was not some drone to spy on him or some unknown flying object, but instead an incredibly large dragonfly. Now Accelerator was not an entomologist nor was he that interested in animals in general, however he knew for a fact that this insect shouldn't exist. But as he blinked the creature was gone. "What the..." Accelerator muttered to himself.
""Mmh? What did you say?" Misaka asks curiously as she looks at you." Last Order asked out loud, getting the other two clones' attention.
"Nothing. Probably just my imagination." Accelerator waved it off, closing his eyes for a moment. He knew for a fact that he was not imagining what he had just seen, but there was no reason to tell them that. The last thing he needed right now was…
*BOOM*
A loud and violent explosion occurred in the right turbine, tearing the whole engine apart and shaking the plane. Flight attendants fell flat on the floor at this, if they couldn't find themselves something to hold onto. Gas masks dropped down on the passengers and immediately the whole plane drowned in chaos.
"AAAHHH!"
Screams erupted across the whole plane from passengers and personnel alike, before the rear on the right side was torn open partially. A few unfortunate people were sucked out of the plane, some alongside the seats they were in.
"Tch! Of course, something like this had to happen!" Accelerator cursed as he quickly fastened the seat belt on Last Order next to him, preventing her from being sucked out as well as she was frightened and clung to him with both hands. Looking back, Accelerator saw the other two clones also slightly panicking, though 10046 looked worse than Worst, probably due to the latter having jumped out of a plane before already. Clicking his tongue, Accelerator removed Last Order's hands from his arm and got up from his seat.
"Where are you going?" Worst shouted over the screams of the other people screaming, seeing the level 5 getting up.
"Watch the brat!" Accelerator shouted over the chaos as he flipped the switch on the electrode on his neck. Upon connecting with the Misaka Network, he felt his brain work on full capacity. The esper pretty much glued his feet to the floor through magnetism, before running towards the cockpit. The other guests were too busy clinging to their seats of being sucked out of the plane as he dashed to the front of the plane.
'What the hell happened? Did we fly into a bloody flock of birds? No, that would be too easy for an excuse. Did we get shot by some missile? Also unlikely. In either case, we are losing altitude fast. Even if we hit the water and make it, we are in the middle of fucking nowhere.' He thought as he ran past the rows of seats and the panicking people. All around him it was chaos with screaming people, some falling onto the floor and stumbling around as the plane began to nosedive. Some tried to keep their balance by holding onto something, but the plane began to shift more and more.
The esper quickly reached the cockpit and threw the door open only to be greeted by a bigger problem. The entire front of the plane hand been smashed in with both pilot and copilot being dead. Glass shards were embedded into their bodies, but there was also chunks of flesh and blood splattered on the ground and walls. However they didn't definitely belonged to either of the two men as they were only covered glass, but didn't miss parts of their body. The meat chunks on the other hand varied in size between that of a hand to larger than a head. All the instruments had been broken and whatever lights were still operational were blinking rapidly. There was no way to control the plane anymore.
'Fuck my life! Did I get the misfortune disease of that hero now?!' Accelerator shouted in his mind as he ran back to Last Order, 10046 and Worst. The Misaka clones were still strapped to their seats and 10046 and Last Order looked mortified for quite a good reason as the plane kept plummeting towards the sea.
"What now?" Worst asked as she was keeping a calmer head in the situation.
"The cockpit is busted. We got to jump." Accelerator replied.
"Tch! Great!" Worst said also using her ability to keep her feet on the floor through magnetism and standing up. Accelerator meanwhile tapped his foot against the floor once, causing the whole plane to shift back into a horizontal position. Due to the increase of air resistance the fall was slowed down a bit, making it easier for him to move around. Then he grabbed Last Order and Worst grabbed 10046.
""Is this really the only way? Asks Misaka seeing the other people are still in danger." 10046 asked.
"We got no way of controlling the plane, let alone flying it. So unless we want to join the casualties, let's go." Accelerator said as both Worst and 10046 grabbed onto his shoulders. Not caring at all about the invasion of his personal space at the moment, he walked to the large hole in the plane with the 3 Misaka clones holding onto him.
""Misaka is scared." Say Misaka as Misaka as she shakes all over her body and squinting her eyes to avoid having anything fly into them." Last Order said. Accelerator's grip on the smaller clone tightened instinctively.
'Dammit! I have to make this work. At this altitude, falling into the ocean would likely kill a person. I must definitely not screw this up.' He thought as he looked at the clones once more. One arm was around Last Order, the other was held onto by Worst who also held 10046. Overall, not exactly optimal conditions. The plane began to tilt forward again, causing the people inside to scream in fright once more.
And then the espers jumped out of the falling plane. Leaving behind a thick cloud of smoke, it fell faster than the group of 4 and almost immediately left them behind. Meanwhile the espers were all falling out of the air, clinging to one another as their lives depended on it. Accelerator couldn't just set off gravity for them and call it a day, otherwise he'd not have to leave the plane after braking its fall.
"Hang on!" Accelerator shouted over the wind rushing past his ears as from his back 4 tornadoes emerged, slowing down the fall of the group of espers, before eventually only falling slowly. Meanwhile Last Order clung to his chest, but was also a bit crushed with both Worst and 10046 having to also hold onto Accelerator's chest to not get blown away by the air current as well.
"Well, that was something wasn't it." Worst said, noticing the reduction of speed with which they fell. Though all she could see was the sea around them.
"Safe it until we are on solid ground. We got company." Accelerator replied.
"Huh?" Worst asked as she looked around, only to come face to face with the alien-like visage of a giant dragonfly coming their way, while many more were flying around in the sky. "What the hell is that?!" Last Order probably would have just screamed, if she wasn't busy freezing up in shock like 10046 did as they both laid eyes on the giant insect heading their way.
Back in the Carboniferous age, Earth's atmosphere had a higher ratio of oxygen in it than today. During that time, amphibians had already emerged and settled on the coastal areas on land, while the first reptiles evolved from them and became completely independent from the water thus allowing them to settle deeper inland. However, these vertebrates were not the top of the food chain. That title belonged to the arthropods of that time which had already been settling on the dry land during the Devonian. Among them were also insects that resembled the modern-day dragonflies. Fossils prove that these insects seem to not have changed their general shape significantly in 300 million years.
The perhaps most famous of them all was Meganeura, a dragonfly-like insect with a wingspan of about 70 centimeters and a body length roughly the same as an adult human's arm, which makes them the largest known flying insects that have ever lived on the planet.
However, the dragonflies around Accelerator, Misaka 10046, Worst and Last Order, were closer in size to trucks and private jet planes than just a human arm. Their legs alone were longer than Accelerator was tall. On top of that, the dragonfly itself was not part some long extinct genus. It was a modern-day dragonfly of the species Anax parthenope commonly known as lesser emperor, which is rather far distributed from parts of central and southern Europe over North-Africa all the way to India, China and Japan.
"Tch! Does this day ever end?" Accelerator said as the dragonfly charged at them, opening its sharp mandibles and reaching out to them with its legs, making Last Order and 10046 look away and close their eyes tightly.
Due to the fact that despite the millions of years that they exist they barely changed in appearance, dragonflies are counted among other creatures like cockroaches, sharks and crocodiles to living fossils. The reason for this is still speculated, but many believe that there simply was no reason for them to change. They had obtained early in their evolution an almost flawless design perfectly suited for their ecological niches.
Dragonflies are carnivorous insects that prey on other flying insects. Their large eyes are made out of hundreds of facets, giving them a 360 degrees field of sight. Their wings allow the dragonfly to hover in place and quickly change directly to either chase prey or avoid predators and obstacles during flight. Both of these abilities coupled allow them to be the perfect flying insect predator. On top of that, they are smart enough to predict the position of their prey in flight, which allows them to catch their prey with their legs, before devouring it alive with their powerful mandibles. These weapons allow large dragonflies to prey on almost any smaller flying insect, including bees and even smaller wasps.
However, there was one thing that made all these traits useless against the espers as their opponents. Accelerator's ability. A perfect defense that allowed no harm to come to Accelerator and redirect any force he wanted to as long as he had access to it.
And so he extended the tornadoes on his back towards the dragonfly as it came in for the kill. The dragonfly couldn't even try to dodge the attack as its body was violently torn into shreds, which fell down into the ocean as a shower of blood and gore. The other dragonflies still flew around the espers, but the death of their own apparently had made them weary of the three. Instead, it seemed they were now more interested in the carcass of the recently killed dragonfly.
But that was not the case for them all. Another insect tried to attack, flying in almost manic patterns, constantly changing direction as if trying to confuse its prey, before closing in to bring its mandibles down on the humans. This time, the insect was practically thrown backwards as it made contact with Accelerator, but not killing it yet. Disoriented and hurt, it hovered around with its now broken legs, before another tornado of Accelerator reduced it to shreds. And again, the other dragonflies seemed to rather be interested in the meat.
"Tch! Piece of shit bugs!" The level 5 esper cursed as he flew over the sea. Leaving the dragonflies behind to feed on their comrades' bodies. The espers didn't bother to further investigate. They had bigger problems. Since Accelerator's power was bound to the electrode on his neck, he could only use it as long as the battery had juice. With 4 people barely clinging to him, Accelerator's movement speed was also reduced by a lot, lest one of them falls off and ends up either drowning or becoming food for the bugs. One way or another, they had to find land as he flew as fast as he could across the ocean.
"So, any clue what that just was, tou-san?" Worst asked.
"Probably some shady scientists experiment gone wrong. Now keep your eyes open for land." Accelerator said as he was also looking around.
This flight continued for a while as the group was surprisingly not chased by the dragonflies. Apparently, they had decided that they were not worth trying to be hunted when they ended up exploding into bloody chunks of meat in the process. Still the other issues remained, Accelerator really didn't want to fall out of the sky and drop the 3 clones to a watery grave.
""There's an island." Misaka says pointing at the aforementioned island ahead." 10046 spoke up as she pointed ahead. Still, the other 3 looked at the direction she pointed and there was indeed an island. It looked rather large and covered in dense forests, though Accelerator could see a larger sending tower further in the island. Just as the notion of flying further popped up in his mind to perhaps find another one closer to the main islands, the electrode on his neck signaled him a low battery status.
"Tch! I swear I got that stupid hero's bad luck." He muttered to himself as he flew lower to the closest beach and landed there. Almost immediately upon reaching the ground, Worst, 10046 and Last Order let go of him with Worst actually falling on the sandy ground with a laugh.
"We made it!" She said pumping her arms into the air she took deep breaths to calm the heart still hammering in her chest. At the same time, Accelerator used his crutch and shut down the choker, once more rendering him powerless. The crutch sunk slightly into the sand beneath it, causing him to adjust his stance and weight with a grimace.
""Are you alright, Accelerator?" Asks Misaka noticing your discomfort." 10046 asked with a concerned look in her eyes. This only made the albino young man frown even deeper. Ever since that hero had beaten him and the gun shot he took to safe Last Order, people had taken him lightly. Espers of various levels had come out of the woodworks like ants to try and take the first ranked esper down, only to end up getting sent to a hospital. However, he bit his tongue and didn't lash out at the clone. There were more pressing matters at hanf.
"The battery of the electrode is almost dead and the charging device we got from Yoshikawa is in our luggage in the plane." He replied.
""Misaka can try to charge the battery again." Says Misaka offering you assistance." 10046 said. Accelerator said nothing in response as he contemplated the idea. The idea was not a bad one, though also risky. He had no idea how good the sister's control over her esper ability actually was and losing the battery would literally turn him into a vegetable. However, there was not exactly a lot of alternatives and he'd rather not trust Worst with his literal lifeline. So instead he began to work on his choker.
""WAH! ALL OF MISAKA'S BELONGINGS ARE GONE!" Misaka realizes as Misaka the whole situation." Last Order shouted, before bawling.
""At least we are alive." Worst said, before looking around. The beach was clean and sandy with some rocks further down the waterline. It was only a few meters broad and immediately changed to the treeline of a subtropical forest. From where they were, there was nothing but the sea on one side and a forest that they could barely get a look into on the other. "Wherever we are that is..." She added. Misaka 10046 moved over to Last Order to console her, while Accelerator sat down on the beach as well, looking at the island behind them.
"Damn, what a mess we are in." He muttered to himself, still trying to absorb the situation at hand. 'I bet this is some pet project of someone in Academy City.' He thought to himself when he recalled the giant dragonflies and how the cockpit had been caked in blood and chunks of meat. He pushed that thought onto the backburner of his mind as he looked at the three Misaka clones around him.
He could get to the bottom of this once they were back in Academy City. For now, the one and only thing he had to be concerned about was making sure that they all got off this island and back to Academy City alive and well. Little did they know that this was merely the beginning of their troubles on that island as they could not see what inhabited this island yet.

That's it for the first chapter. I hope you have enjoyed it. Please let me know your thoughts and opinions in the comments. Constructive criticism is always welcome and feedback always appreciated. For some reason, people don't review a lot of stories anymore it seems... That and all those bot accounts are out there as well. Some people definitely need better hobbies than harassing fanfiction writers.
To be fair, I mainly wrote this as both someone who has always been interested in animals and someone who wants to read more stories with Accelerator. There are probably more suitable franchises out there that could be used to craft a story with him, but I settled for this one among others. However, it appears that Kamachi's blatant favoritism towards Touma in the canon has pretty much made him write the other two protagonists (Accelerator and Misaka) out of the story entirely or put them on the sidelines forever.
I mean, not only is Misaka's role as a character more or less now reduced to being a love interest for Touma, Accelerator quite literally is bound to the Misaka Network in order to survive, which at first was rather poetic and interesting but overtime has become rather unpleasant since now Accelerator and Last Order are almost so inseperable that they have become one character. Kinda like Nora and Ren from RWBY, except those two were always together since the start.
In either case, I hope you all have a good day, stay safe and to see you guys next time when Accelerator and the Misaka Sisters will encounter the terrors of that island.
And now, before you go, here's a little something as a bonus. If you would like more scenes like that at the end of the chapters, please write it in your comments.

Meanwhile in Academy City, Touma Kamijou was standing in his apartment with a newspaper rolled up in his hand and raised over his head. The summer heat was making the air inside it thick and heavy despite the windows being wide open. For one reason or another, his AC unit had decided to break down right when summer was at its peak. His skin was slick with sweat as his body tried its best to cool itself down, though with little to no effect. And unfortunately, his attempts to get some ventilation into his apartment the old-fashioned way had resulted in the current situation.
Starring back at him was a brown insect with a pair of long antenna, a round and flat carapace as well as about 1.5 centimeters in length as it simply sat there on the ground before him. This specimen was part of the species Blatella asahinai also known as the Asian Cockroach.
"Careful... Careful... NOW!" Touma yelled as he swung down the paper roll at the roach. However, the reaction time of an insect like this was much shorter than that of a human. For this reason, flies, mosquitoes and cockroaches are capable of evading such attacks. The roach skittered across the floor, easily dodging Touma's blows , who followed up with a few more hits, only to miss every time. Still he grinned to himself the insect was now right in a corner with no way to run from him. "Ha... ha... Got you now..." He said panting from the heat and the frantic blows he tried to deal to the vermin. That was when the cockroach instead turned around and stared directly at him with its dark compound eyes. "Huh...?"
In that moment, Touma felt a instinctive dread creep up his spine as he watched the insect before him approach him instead of running away. His smile grew a bit uneasy as he raised his weapon again to bring it down on his hated foe when the insect stopped. There was a tense moment of silence between the two like two cowboys facing off against each other at high noon in an old Western movie. He even thought for a second he heard some old town bell ring at that. Still, Touma fought back the anxiety building up in him and forced a smirk on his lips.
"ORA!" With a shout he swung his arm down, only to see the roach to open its elytra and spread them out alongside its hind wings.
While the Asian Cockroach was in appearance near identical to Blatella germanica (German Cockroach), it had longer and narrower wings, which unlike its distant relative it actively used for locomotion. And as such the cockroach countered Touma's overhead strike by suddenly taking flight and evading the blow, before making landing right into Touma's face.
"AAAHHH!" The boy screamed in shock at the insect landing on his nose as he lost balance and fell backwards, hurting his back in the process. "SUCH MISFORTUNE!" He cried out, still scrambling on the ground, while the cockroach flew out of sight to await the next opportunity to strike.
