“Phionna, wake up!” Juliana hissed, gently nudging her sister awake.
“Huh? What is it?” she asked, stirring.
“Look, I don’t have much time to explain, but…” Juliana hesitated. “I’m running away.”
“What? Julie, you can’t! Mom and Dad will catch you!”
“No they won’t. I just… need to get out of here, and I want you to come with me.”
Phionna gasped. “Really?”
“Really.”
Her gaze fell. “I’m sorry, Julie… I can’t.”
“What? Why not?!” Juliana demanded.
“Because I’m too scared!” Phionna admitted, whisper-shouting.
Juliana faltered. “Fine, be that way. Don’t say I didn’t try.”
Juliana vanished into the night…
