Work Text:
It was finally December! Adrien was ecstatic! He was five years old and Christmas was the most exciting thing to him. But he was even more excited because he was finally going to meet his aunty Amilie and her son, he only really had one friend so he couldn't wait to meet someone else his age! And they were cousins so they just had to be destined to be friends!
Adrien was just putting on his new rudolph onesie when he heard a knock at the door, he ran down the stairs, only tripping twice, he saw his dad, his mum, a lady who looked just like his mum who he guessed must aunty Amilie, a man who looked quite angry, he must be uncle Colt, and then there was a little boy who looked a lot like him standing behind the lady who looked like his mum, he ran down the last few steps and stood next to his dad
“HI! I'M ADRIEN!” he shouted, the biggest smile on his face.
“Adrien honey, this is your aunty Amilie, your uncle Colt, and your cousin Felix.” His mum said, pointing to them in turn. Adrien put his hand out towards his cousin, tentatively the boy came out from behind his mum and took Adrien’s hand, a small smile on his face.
“Com'on, let's go to my room!” he said, pulling the boy forwards. When they got to Adrien’s room Adrien sat in the middle of the floor, Felix just stood there awkwardly.
“I’s ok! You can sit here!” he said, still beaming, Felix tentatively sat on the floor, looking curiously at his cousin.
“You look a lot like me. I wonder why.” He said.
Adrien stared for a second and said: “You're right, maybe it means we’re supposed to be friends!” Adrien liked this idea very much, he very much wanted to be friends with his cousin.
“ ‘friends’ ?” Felix asked, but not like he was questioning being friends, more like he hadn't ever heard the word before, or at least hadn't heard it said to him.
“Don't you have friends?” Adrien asked, and Felix shook his head.
“Well thas ok! I only really have one friend, but we can be friends! And then I’ll have two friends!” Adrien sounded so happy that Felix couldn't help but smile.
“So, what do friends do?” Felix asked, and Adrien wasn’t really sure, Chloe always chose what they did. Suddenly he stood up, running over to his bed and picking up some, half-done, colouring pages and some crayons, he sat back down, placing them between him and Felix.
“Colouring?” Adrien asked, (when he thought back to this day he realised maybe he should have asked *before* he got the crayons and paper). Felix nodded and Adrien passed him a colouring page.
A few hours later the boys had done so much colouring that they had tired themselves out, when aunty Amilie and adrien’s mum come to check on them they had fallen asleep curled up like cats on the colourings, they laughed as they picked up the boys and put them in the bed, then they turned off the light and left the room, leaving Adrien and Felix dreaming of new friendships and how much fun they would have tomorrow, and for the rest of the month, after all Felix was staying all December.
