Work Text:

Ororo being a caregiver for little! Reader who rarely regresses. But when they do regress, they are extremely enamored by the stars. The X-Men manor being the perfect place for stargazing as the skies tend to be clear and it's far out in the countryside so there's not too much light pollution. But one time they regress on a day where the sky is cloudy and Ororo sees them pouting.

'Hey, why the long face, bub?' Having nicked the nickname from Logan. 'No stars out,' they babble like it's obvious. 'Well, that's not good. Let's see if your mumma can do something about that, shall we?' Holding a hand out for Reader to grab onto.

Reader takes her hand, letting Ororo lead them outside, on the grounds. Making sure to grab a blanket for the two of them to sit on beforehand. Ororo's eyes cloud over akin to a storm, hair trailing away from her face with static as the sky became clear. Exposing the stars hidden beneath.

Ororo smiled when she heard Reader giggling, clapping excitedly at the sight. Even in their regressed state, they could still point out notable constellations. Like the little dipper and the ursa major along with the north star. Ororo didn't mind doing this for them as it helped in extending the amount of time she could use her mutation for. Listening to the stilled silence as they both sit on the blanket. At one point Ororo's worried that they've forgotten to breathe as fireflies flicker on the ground level.

'It's getting cold, bub. We should probably head in now,' gently coaxing them back inside the manor. Shaking out the grass from the blanket before Reader grabs her hand again. Ororo's eyes returned to their blue hue when she didn't use her mutation. 'Thank you,' Reader slurs out childishly as Ororo continues to lead them back to their room to get ready for bed.

'Anything for my little one.'
