"Ugh." Denji exclaimed, his tongue stuck out in disgust.
"What's your problem, Denji?" Aki asked with a sigh. "Thought you liked my Miso, said it was 'The best soup I've ever had, 'Topknot'." He added, performing a poor man's impression of the teen.
"No, it's good, it's just..." Denji paused, carefully picking something off his tongue, dangling it in the air with his index finger and thumb, "... it's hair. Nasty! Wear a hairnet, Topknot!" He exclaimed, grinning. "How do you know it's not your hair, Denji?" Aki responds dismissively. "Cause my hair isn't this long, and we both know Power's not ever cooking us dinner!" Denji barked back. "It's gotta be yours!"
"How foul! Attempting to poison us with your vile, unwashed hair, Topknot? 'Tis disgraceful!" Power chimed in, smiling in delight. "My hair wouldn't poison you, dumbass. AND, I wash it every morning, you could try doing that too." Aki said, pointing his spoon angrily at the Fiend. "Hey, wait a minute...." Denji said softly, cutting the tension, "The hair... it's... grey." He said, looking closely at the loose lock in his grip. The others leaned closer, and noticed it was, if fact, a soft shade of silver.
"Yeah, and?" Aki asked, wondering where on earth the brat was getting at. "It's just... only old bastards have grey hair, right? Like that old devil hunter!" He said, grinning wide, his sharp teeth peeking through. "Hey! What did I tell you, respect your elders, especially him!" Aki barked, slamming his fist against his leg. "And besides, sometimes you have grey hair, that's normal." He added, sighing. "Though I guess you wouldn't have been able to... learn that, huh?"
"Ha, nice try! You're turning into an old man, Topknot! Gahahahaha!" Denji Cackled. "Damnit! No I'm not! It's just one grey hair!" Aki yelled, as Power began cackling as well, her shrill guffaw overpowering Denji's. "GYAHAHAHAHAHA! DENJI'S RIGHT! YOU'RE ON THE WAY OUT, OLD MAN! PRETTY SOON, WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO PUT YOU IN A RETIREMENT HOME! THEN, WHEN THE ONLY HAIR ON YOUR OLD, BALD HEAD IS YOUR GREY, WITHERING TOPKNOT, ME AND DENJI ARE GONNA VISIT YOU AND FEED YOU GRUEL! GYAHAHAHAHAHA!" She shrieked, falling over on her back as she rolled about, roaring with laughter like a hyena. "Yeah! Enjoy your Gruel, Grandpa!" Denji added, chuckling.
Aki glared at them both. "Don't know why you're laughing, Denji, you're gonna get old too." Denji scoffed. "Nuh-uh! Miss Makima told me that I probably won't get old, cause of Pochita! Nice try, Topknot, but you're gonna be all alone in that nursing home! Don't worry, me and Power'll visit you!"
"Hmph. Well, you may be able to see me, but I doubt they'd let Power in." Aki said with annoyance. "What do ya mean?" Power asked, confused. Aki sighed again. "Really? You don't get it? Well, Denji'll be fine, his body's alive, but... well, you're a fiend, Power. You're puppeting a corpse. They don't exactly... last long." He said, somewhat perturbed by his own words.
Power's eyes widened. "N-nuh-uh! I'm fine! I'm not gonna... gonna rot away, I'm the Mighty Power! I shan't fall to such a... disdainful fate!" She exclaimed. "Besides, even if that happens, Denji'll keep me nice and clean, right, Denji?!" She said, turning to the teen, who winced at her. "Uh... wait a sec... corpses smell real bad when they rot... no chick's gonna wanna come over to a place that smells like a dead person..." He said softly, before his mind clearly wandered again, ignoring Power's immediate objections to kicking her out. "Wait a second... WAIT! I'm not... gonna age?" He exclaimed, grasping his head. "Wait... no lady's gonna wanna date someone who looks like he's a high schooler... Miss Makima... she'll get older, and I... People would look at us like we're... Mother and Son!" He yelped, gagging. "No way! I... I gotta get old at some point, right? I... I can't stay like this forever, can I?" He exclaimed, shaking his head.
As Denji and Power both panicked about their futures, Aki sighed. "Geez... are you two really getting wound up about something like this..." He said to himself.
"I mean..." He thought to himself. "We're Devil Hunters... it's rare to get past 40 in this job... and going after the Gun Devil... you two should be worrying about the next week, much less to your old age... ugh... no wonder I'm getting grey hair..."
The older man looked to the two punks sitting across from him. "These two... I guess they really won't age, huh... Well... maybe they'll be fine... at least they'll have each other... when I'm gone. But... I guess if I do make it to a nursing home..."
He let out a small chuckle.
"I guess it wouldn't be that bad to be visited by them."
