- Presentation
Ok, this is something I wanted to do for a while now.
I have become a MCU fan in 2015. I never read many comic books, I’ve seen one or two movies, and I loved Spider-Man since I was a boy, but wasn’t really into the world of Marvel. But that year, I needed it; I finished University and was in-between that and the start of my job life, and I was rather stressed. So, I decided to give a shot to the MCU and I was hooked, just in time for the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron and the subsequent start of the best Phase of the MCU, aka Phase 3. I kept watching every single cinematic release, and I even kept in touch with the TV stuff, although on a less thorough way.
However, even back then I noticed that sometimes something didn’t sound right. Post-credit scenes that went nowhere, plotlines abandoned or not developed enough, useless characters, and a clear change of direction in the way the major plot threads were going. None of these prevented me from enjoying the franchise as a whole (although it did for some movies), but it did rub me somewhat the wrong way. Then, after Endgame, came the decline in quality of the Marvel products, and by 2021 I was fed up. I stopped watching the TV series after Moon Knight (which I did not like, and I do not understand why so many do, it’s awful) and the movies after that God-awful hot garbage called Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
But I have to admit, the 2025 releases look promising, and I do want to see Marvel come back in shape. So, as both a way to celebrate what I hope will be a comeback of the MCU and to look back at the way we went, I did decide to present here my rewriting of every single project done by the Marvel Studios since they started, both movies and TV shows. It will be an interesting look into an alternative reality where it all went much smoother than in ours.
- Rules
Before I start, let me make some things clear.
- Every chapter shall be divided in two parts: my opinion on the movies or shows, and my changes. For the tv series, I shall go season by season.
- I am going to consider all the products belonging to the MCU line-up, a.k.a featuring characters appearing in the cinematic movies or originated into television but later transported into the movies. So yeah, I am going to include Agents of S.H.I.E.LD. and Agent Carter as it would have been if Marvel ever bothered to consider those shows that as part of its main plot (which they clearly don’t, so to me it is clearly not canon), as well as the Netflix shows since their inclusion is something that is going to happen. I will not, however, consider Runaways or Cloak and Dagger. Oh, and of course, no Fox movies – at least, not until I reach Deadpool and Wolverine.
- You are not going to read of course a factual rewriting, but rather a plot sketch about I think things should have gone in the movies. I have not the time nor the patience to sit here and rewrite the movies and the shows from square one.
- I will not imagine new seasons of shows that were cancelled. The characters from those shows, in this universe, will go on in other products of the same universe.
- The movies and shows will retain all their basic aspects: the same characters, the same villains, the same main plot points. I will only change the details of the plot.
- With one exception, Black Widow, I will keep the release order intact, so the movies will come out in the same order we saw them. I think that was an issue only for that movie.
- There will be no slander of any character or any writer, director or actor on these products. Even though mistakes have been made, I am not here to judge anyone. This means, I will not allow anyone slandering anyone.
- Last but definitely not least – this is my opinion. If you have different ideas, fine; you may even say them in the comments. However, do not come at me with insults or attacks, because I will block you or not approve your comment.
Without further ado, let’s go.
