Your name is Viktor, you are a scientist from the under city and up until very recently you were assistant to the dean of the Piltover academy. Now you are cofounder of hex tech. You met Jayce a month ago when you were supposed to dispose of his illegal magic research, instead you helped him finish it, making possibly the biggest scientific brake through since electricity. This is the kind of thing you both thought you could only dream of. Jayce has been chasing his hextech dream for all his life. Working on it beside him, you feel almost like an intruder.
You may have proven that magic can he harness using science, but you haven't proven that it can actually be used. Right now all you have is a crystal containing unimaginable energy and no real way to use it. The two potential uses you can currently see for hex tech would be as an energy source and if you find a way to harness it the teleportation effect that you observed the first time you activated the crystal.
For the past few weeks Jayce and you have been brainstorming ways to do just that. And after much trial and error you have finally landed on an experiment. To change the frequency of the hex crystal after it's been activated. but in order to do that you need a hextech activator, as Jayce calls it, to control the frequency and the prototype was destroyed in your first experiment, you have since then developed a model that should be able to withstand the strain.
And so you and your lab partner now stand in your new laboratory, the hextech activator, primed and ready, on the work bench before you. Professor Heimerdinger was not happy about the lack of safety processions on your first experiment, but in your defense you were working on a tight schedule. This time, in order to please him, you are wearing safety googles and have removed all lose objects except for yourselfs from the room. You would have liked to sit down but sadly floating chairs are not without their safety risks.
Jayce claps his hands together. "Lets get started!" He glances to you and gestures at the hextech activator. "May I?"
"Yes, of course. Go right ahead."
He moves his googles from his face to get a better view as he leans in (Heimerdinger would not be pleased about that one). You watch him turn the knob. He is so concentrated, his eyes gleaming with a childlike excitement. The hex crystal glows brighter and brighter until it erupts sending you both flying into the air and leaving you floating there.
It is just as magical as the first time, seeing the whole room bathed in blue, floating weightlessly in the air, seeing Jayces ecstatic expression. You both spend a minute just admiring the beauty of hextech. After an appropriate amount of admiring, Jayce uses a pathetic swimming motion to gracelessly makes his way back down to the work bench and actually conduct the experiment you are supposed to be conducting. You decide to stay were you are, it seams more dignified. You hold your cane in the crock of your arm and take out your note book and pen. To get started you tittle the blank page "Hextech frequencies" and in the corner you scribble "V&J", Jayce will surely want the notes signed.
Jayce gives you a thumbs up from down by the work bench and you give one back. As he starts to carefully starts to turn the frequency down the singular spacial distortion field hanging over the hextech activator explodes into a multitude of fields. And as the frequency lowers further the spacial distortion fields grow and shrink into each other like a kaleidoscope and the light emitted from the crystal dims. At precisely 25600 Hz they become one again, bigger this time. And at 12800 Hz, bigger again. And 6400 Hz. And so on until 800 Hz when the crystal's energy dissipates the blue glow slowly fading, and you float down almost gently to the flor. You scribble it down while you land.
You look up at Jayce. "Let's go again, shall we."
"Right on."
And in a moment your are blown into the air again. Jayce made sure to hold on tightly to the bench (as to not have to repeat his pathetic air swim). "We have to find a way to not be sent flying every time we use hextech." he says.
"Indeed" you agree.
As the frequency increases so does the blue light and the spacial distortion field multiplies again. It follows the same kaleidoscope pattern (it's always nice when theres a pattern), the spacial distortion fields becoming one at 102400 Hz, 204800 Hz, 409600 Hz and so on. Up to 1638400 Hz when the blue light is almost blinding the energy erupts again, just like when activated, sending Jayce flying and dropping you to the hard marble flor. Your butt and back are going to be bruised for weeks. Jayce gats to his feet and ruches over to you to make sure you're all right. "No broken bones" you tell him and then joke, saying "This is the necessary price of progress."
And this is progress indeed.
Jayce is very precise about his papers so he will be writing the abstract, intro, purpose, theory, hypothesizes, and discussion while you write the execution and result. You don't mind letting him do most of the writing, it has never been your favorite part of scientific resurge. It takes you a week or two to recover from your fall before you can start work on that. And after a five weeks of Jayce finding just the right words the paper is ready for peer revue from Professor Heimerdinger.
"It feels really weird to have our own paper as our only source."
"Well, what else would we use? We're the only people working on hextech."
You stand out side Professor Heimerdinger's office, Jayce holding the pages of your paper in a tight grasp (he's going to crease the papers if he keeps being so nervous).
"I know, but it doesn't seem very trust worthy or scientific."
"Stop worrying so much, Heimerdinger is the only one who's going to read it anyways."
Just then the office door creaks open and Heimerdinger beckons you in. "Come in. Come in. I am very exited to see what you lads have for me today." He waddles back to his chair and you and Jayce take your place before his desk.
"Well, here you are sir." Jayce moves to place the pages on the professors desk (you admire his ability to fake confidence). Before the paper reaches its destination, however, Heimerdinger snatches it out of his hand. The professor takes a pair of very small reading glasses in his other hand and places them on this face. "Let's see..."
"You- eh- you're reading it now?" You gape. In all your years as his assistant you almost never saw him read a paper the same week it was submitted let alone the same day.
"Yes! your hextech discovery was quiet exiting. And, it's embarrassing to admit..." He chuckles to himself. "...but i have been very much looking forward to see how you will continue your resurge."
Hex crystals' reaction to different frequencies

Abstract
Hextech is a new technology and the scientific study of magic is just as new, thusly in order to understand and make full use of this new technology as much information about its character as possible is needed. Frequency plays an important role when activating the hex crystal so it is not a stretch to think it would have other effects on the hex crystal. In this experiment the effect frequency has on hex crystals will be examined. It finds that the frequency the hex crystal is held at effects both its energy and spacial distortion field.

Intro
Hex crystals are a physical manifestation of magic which can be used by non mages. There are many unknowns about this new technology, one such being the effect that changing the frequency of the hex crystal has on its energy. That is what this experiment will seek to answer.
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment is to find ways to control the power of hextech. There is no reason to have an immense power source if you can't use it.
In order to get the most simple and replicable result no other variables will be changed. This experiment will focus only on the effect of changing the frequency of the hex crystal after activation.
Does the frequency the hex crystal is held at effects the character of its energy? And in what way?
Theory
A hex crystal holds a large amount of magical energy within it which can be safely released when the crystal is rotated at a frequency of 51200 Hz. [1]
Hypothesis
The crystal will only react to harmonic frequencies such as 102400 Hz and 25600.
Materials

Execution
- the hex crystal is placed onto the hextech activator
- hex crystal is activated
- The frequency is first slowly turned down to 800 Hz
- hex crystal is activated again
-the frequency is slowly turned up to 1638400 Hz
Results
The frequency the hex crystal is held at directly correlates to its energy out put as well as the spacial distortion field pattern. The increase in frequency correlating directly to increased energy and decreased spacial distortion fields respectively.
The spacial distortion field were observed to follow a kaleidoscope like pattern. Where multiple spacial distortion fields of differing size only collide into one at harmonic frequencies.
Discusion
Runes are used in traditional magic as a way to command the arcane. it would seem hextech can be commended with frequency as well. If the frequency had had no effect that would've meant that hextech is much like traditional magic, but it did, meaning that hextech is separate from traditional magic in some way. Understanding how magical runes and hex crystal frequency interact will be crucial to hextechs further development.

Heimerdinger takes his time reeding your paper. Jayce sends you a worried look and you try to give a reassuring one in return (but you don't know how well it comes across) You're really wishing you had a chair right about now.
"Its rather unusual to site yourselfs av your only sorce..."
"See." Jayce whispers too you.
"... but i suppose there isn't much else you can do."
Jayce lets out a sigh of relief "See." You wispier back after letting the professor finish his sentence.
After a minute or so of Heimerdinger critiquing miner flaws in Jayce's writing the two of you leave his office.
Jayce breathes out and for a moment he looks almost as tired as you feel. And then he straightens up, returning to put together and energetic in an instant, and turns to you. "So, whats next, partner?"
You blink back at him. "Um- sorry?"
"For hex tech i mean! What do you think we should .. next?" he doesn't wait for an answer before he starts mumbling about his own ideas. "Perhaps we could try to find out more about runes. or maybe work on a way to use its energy... an engine... Or! i wonder how far we could send something with the spacial distortion fields."
"I thin i need to ehh.. take some time of before i get back in the lab..."
"Oh- of course." He is trying to not let your see his disappointment.
You give him a light nudge in the side with your elbow. "If you really want to, you can start working on the next step, without me."
Jayce puts his hand on your shoulder.
"No, that just wouldn't be right."
