Work Text:
Noah had been waiting all day for you to wake up. He had woken up around noon and now, it was creeping into the afternoon. He had tried to keep himself busy, but his attention kept getting drawn to the snow piling up outside the cabin that you shared with him. He kept himself occupied with chores and messing around in his studio space, but he couldn't get rid of the excitement over playing in the snow with you again.
It had become a routine for the two of you. When the first snowfall of the season came, the two of you would go outside. Sometimes you'd just walk around and enjoy the scenery. Most of the time, though, you'd play. It felt almost childish, but you both enjoyed it nonetheless.
He watched as the light dusting of snow became an inch and then a foot and even more. He kept imagining how it would feel to run his wolf nose through the fresh snow. He would have bolted out already, but he wanted to share the moment with you. He didn't want to wake you since he knew how exhausted you had been lately and he knew you needed the rest.
He took one last longing look outside and then headed into the studio to work on music until you woke up.
Eventually, sometime in the middle of the afternoon, the quiet of the cabin was broken by the sound of creaking stairs and Noah's ears perked up. He put his guitar down and got up to head to the kitchen. You were starting the hot water kettle for coffee. Noah approached you and hugged you from behind. You turned around in his embrace.
"Good morning." You mumbled.
"Well, afternoon." He kissed the top of your head.
"Oh. Yeah. Sorry." You chuckled.
"No worries at all." Noah's face seemed bright and excited. "Hey, did you see how much snow we got? It's incredible."
"Yeah, I'm glad we don't have to go anywhere." You hugged him and pecked a light kiss on his cheek.
"Yeah." Noah chuckled.
You went to sit at the kitchen table while Noah finished up with the coffee.
As the two of you were having your coffee, you made small talk but Noah's attention was clearly elsewhere. He could barely sit still and his gaze kept drifting over to the backdoor of the cabin, which was a glass door that gave a full view of the backyard.
"You wanna head outside?" You said softly.
"Hell yeah." Noah nodded vigorously and stood up. If he had been in wolf form, he would have probably been wagging. He was about to rush to the door, but stopped himself. "You coming out or did you wanna finish your coffee?"
You smiled at him. "Go ahead. I'll be right out. I'll probably just finish it on the porch."
Noah nodded. He bolted to the door and then started undressing. You sipped your coffee and got up to put on your snow gear. You heard Noah shifting into his wolf form next to you. Once the two of you were ready, you both headed outside.
As soon as the door was open, Noah charged out of the cabin, bolting headfirst into the thick snow. He let out an excited chorus of huffs and grunts as he went. He wrecked havoc, lost in his own little world as he destroyed the once-pristine snow. He rolled around and ran through the snow. It didn't take long for the yard to be covered in his tracks.
After you finished your coffee, you set the mug down on the outdoor table and then stepped out into the snow.
Noah froze, his dark eyes locking onto you with a playful menace in his gaze. His tail wagged slowly. He huffed and snorted. Then he galloped through the snow towards you. You knelt down to grab him, but before you could, he dove out of reach just in time. You ran after him.
The two of you messed around in the snow for a little while. Noah would sometimes run over to you and nudge you. Sometimes you two would roughhouse together. Noah always made sure to be careful since he was well aware of his strength.
Time seemed to fly by as the two of you had fun in the snow.
After a little while, you started to get tired and you sat down in the snow. Noah eyed you carefully and sat down beside you.
He shifted into a state halfway between human and wolf. He still had fur protecting him from the cold, but his body had a more humanoid shape. He could also speak in this form, albeit with a lower voice.
"You okay?" He asked.
You were breathing heavily. "Yeah, yeah. I'm just taking a moment."
Noah's gaze lit with concern. "Maybe we should head inside. You look like you're cold."
You hesitated. Part of you wanted to continue playing with him out here, but he was right. Your nose was starting to run. You had been out here with him for over an hour at this point and despite the heavy snow gear covering your form, your face was still exposed to the elements.
"Um, yeah, I guess we should go in. Are you sure you don't mind?"
Noah gave you a hug. "I've gotten all the time I need out here. Come. Let's go relax inside."
When you and Noah stepped inside the cabin, you pulled your snow gear off and Noah put some more wood on the fire.
You grabbed a towel from the bathroom and headed into the living room, where Noah was standing. He had shed his wolf form entirely and was now human again. You handed him the towel and he dried off. Your gaze was then caught by the way the fire illuminated his tattooed form. He looked really good, so you ended up staring longer than you had intended to.
"Is something wrong, angel?"
You blushed and looked up to see Noah with a grin on his face. "No. You just look good. That's all."
"Oh really?" He wrapped the towel around his waist and stepped closer.
"Yes." You smiled up at him.
He reached for you and pulled you close to him. He pressed a chaste kiss to your lips. "You look good too."
"Thank you." You whispered as you wrapped your arms around him as well.
His hair was still somewhat wet and very messy, so you reached up to fix it. He kept looking at you as you fixed his hair, his eyes full of fondness. Then your hands settled on his cheeks and you met his eyes. Your fingers stroked his cheeks lightly.
"Are you all out of energy?" Noah asked, leaning forward to brush noses with you.
"Yeah." You searched his sweet eyes with an equally fond look in your own gaze. Then you dropped your hands to hug him again. "But…I'm not that tired."
"You wanna have some hot cocoa and sit by the fire? You still feel a little cold."
"That sounds nice." You said softly. With a chuckle, you added, "Go get some clothes on so I don't get distracted again."
Noah chuckled. "Are you sure? It's just you and me here. It's not like we need to wear anything." He purred.
Your face reddened further. "Noah." You tried to sound serious, but your voice trembled with a giggle, which made Noah's smile even wider.
"I'm just messing with you. I'll be right back."
The two of you shared a deeper kiss and then Noah headed upstairs while you headed to the kitchen to make the hot cocoa. As you were heading into the living room, Noah came downstairs wearing a T-shirt and sweatpants.
Since you had woken up so late, it was already dark outside. Now, with the only light source being the warm glow of the fireplace, the atmosphere felt cozier. The two of you settled on the couch with your hot cocoa. Noah wrapped an arm around you. You leaned against him and allowed yourself to sink into relaxation.
