You and toph had been sent out to find some more information on the fire nation in one of the capital cities. Your mission was mostly successful. Mostly. You had gotten discovered by a fire nation soldier who was searching the shop you were in for anyone who didnt belong. The soldier was suspicious of you and toph despite your efforts to blend in. He attempted to stop you from leaving when toph started a confrontation with the soldier.
You tried your best to defuse the situation but toph was too stubborn to back down. The soldier caught on and once you guys realized you tried to make an escape. The guard grabbed her wrist. Toph pulled her wrist away before running out of the shop with you.
You started your way back to where the rest of the gaang was and it was silent until you spoke. “Is your wrist okay?”
“Yeah it’s fine.” Toph said, keeping her response short
“You sure?” You inquired further
“I’m more than sure.” Toph crossed her arms, she was being short with you.
You took the hint and shut up, it was best to not keep poking Toph after she wasn’t engaging. The walk continued to be a silent. You wanted to help but couldn’t if she didn’t let you.
You decided to try one more time, not knowing if she was going to knock your head off or not. “Can I at least look at it?” You waited for her response, the silence growing by the second before she stuck her hand out begrudgingly.
“Make it quick.” She grumbled
You smile, happy she’s willing to let you help even if it’s not something she’d agree to normally. When you finally looked at her wrist it was very bruised like it had been pulled hard. Your fingers gently pressed the skin.
“Hey! Watch it…” she gritted her teeth, it definitely hurt more than she was letting on
“Sorry…” you mumbled your apologies. “Does it hurt?” When the question left your mouth you realized how dumb the question was.
“No, not at all.” Toph said with a hint of sarcasm
“Dumb question, sorry…” you said back to her
You opened your bag, rummaging through it searching for something. You were able to find a wrap bandage, maybe it’d help with compression?
“What’re you doing?” Toph asked as she heard you clearly searching for something
“Something for your wrist….”
“It’s not that bad.” She mumbled to herself
“Have you seen it?” You asked
“I haven’t seen anything!”
“Right. Sorry…where should we stay? It’s getting dark and-“
“Just shut up. Please.” Toph said, growing tired of your continuous jumping all over the place
Your plan of wrapping her wrist soon forgotten and now you’re attempting to find a decent Inn for the night. You find one next to a small cafe and go inside. The lady at the desk watches as you walked in.
“Hello ma’am, do you have a vacancy?” You questioned politely
The front desk lady just handed you a key and walked away
“Hey! Wait!” You tried to get her attention to no avail
The keys said room 12, I guess you and toph are staying there for the night. The two of you find your room and walk inside, it was decent looking. You sat down on the bed and asked for toph to come over to you. “Come here..”
She easily made her way over and sat beside you. “What?” She asked
You gently grabbed her wrist and started to wrap it with a decent amount of pressure. Toph hissed quietly from pain but mostly kept her facade. After you were done wrapping her wrist she contemplated something for a moment. “Thanks….i guess whatever.” She crossed her arms
You smiled at her. “Of course, it’s what friends do for each other.”
