Work Text:
the first time seokjin noticed it, he didn't think much of it. he had been sitting quietly by the window, the students running in the corridor when it had suddenly caught his eye.
on the narrow window sill was a small, origami, purple heart. seokjin stared at it curiously. it was small but stood out against the stark white walls. he tried to rack his brain. why and how would origami end up here? maybe someone had an arts and craft class and dropped it here?
whatever, seokjin just shrugged. it looked pretty and he liked purple so he quietly took it and slipped it in between his notebook pages. it looked cute. a small purple heart in the midst of monotone notebook lines. seokjin smiled as he closed his notebook, ready to pay attention in his next class.
the next day it happened, seokjin still didn't think much. he did find it odd when he once again found an origami heart on the window, this time in a pretty pink colour. he picked it up, turning it in his hand to see if could get a clue as to where it came from. there was nothing sadly. just a cute, pink heart. once again, seokjin just shrugged it off and put it into the same notebook, placing it next to the purple heart. he wished whoever the person was kept dropping these on their way to arts class would keep on doing it.
the third time it happened, seokjin noticed. he took note of some things that always happened when he received the paper hearts. one, it happened after lunch break. two, it was always kept right on the window sill next to seokjin's desk. and today, he noticed the letters on the hearts. this time he had gotten three yellow heart together and when seokjin had looked closer, he had found the tiny letters on them.
‘J’ ‘I’ ‘N’
huh?
so it really was meant for him. seokjin wondered who was doing it. any coincidence happened two times only and after that it wasn't a coincidence anymore. so, someone was personally keeping these there for him to find it specifically even going so far as to write his name. still, he added the three yellow hearts into his notebook collection. it looked pretty and made him smile a bit. he couldn't wait to find out what color he would get the next day.
the next day seokjin found a green heart. it was a bit crumpled but looked pretty nonetheless. he giggled. how cute. whoever was doing this was actually quite regular.
“what's got you giggling?”
seokjin turned around to come face to face with wendy. in his class, seokjin only ever talked to wendy as they both got selected for choirs all the time so he had formed a friendship with her. other than her there were mostly girls of his class who would approach him to ask nonsense such as if he would like to go to the arcade or the movies with them. he would politely decline every time but it still annoyed him to no end. still, he liked wendy. she was sweet to him and didn't bother him.
“wendy, i think i've got an admirer.” seokjin said as he showed wendy the green heart. it was slightly bigger than the rest (yes jin could notice that much now) and looked pretty. wendy smiled as she looked at seokjin.
“aww that's super sweet! did you find out who it was?” she asked curiously. seokjin shook his head but the smile never left his lips. wendy pouted next to him.
“well then, let me know when you do find them! and c'mon, we gotta go. we have choir practice.” wendy said as she left the room. seokjin nodded and took out his notebook to keep the heart before pausing. he thought for a bit and then put it in his pocket instead. he smiled as he exited the room unaware of the eyes following him.
“i'm glad he likes them.” the person smiled when-
“jungkook-ah!”
jungkook startled as he looked at namjoon with a hand on his chest.
“hyung! why would you scare me like that!” jungkook exclaimed, dramatically clutching his chest.
“well, you were the one being creepy rather. why would you stare at jin hyung like that?” namjoon said as he exaggerated himself by shivering and running his hands up and down on his arms. jungkook merely rolled his eyes as he pushed his hands into his uniform pant pockets. he couldn't admit his little (huge) crush on seokjin to namjoon or else he would be teased the entire day.
he had always admired seokjin so much. he would sometimes join choir performances and would catch glimpses of seokjin in the far corner, practicing by himself with his rich vocals. jungkook always got lost staring at seokjin. his heart would pound so much and jungkook just knew he was in love already. still, there was no way he could confess straightforwardly so he resorted to different means. he resorted to cliche methods he had seen in anime and left a juice box on seokjin's desk once and stood by to watch if seokjin took it, which he did but immediately gave it to some girl. it made jungkook pout but he sighed. seokjin was kind like that. after that, jungkook thought of many ways of capturing seokjin’s attention but he just couldn't.
one day, he sat folding little origami paper hearts in the practice room which were to be used for decoration. he quite frankly couldn't focus on the paper and was rather more interested in seokjin sitting by the stage. he sat with another girl next to him and they seemed to be practicing together. he had sighed, feeling confused about how to approach seokjin when he suddenly saw the origami hearts near his feet.
oh!
he just got a genius idea!!
and so jungkook placed the purple heart for the first time on the window sill next to seokjin's desk. jungkook knew seokjin always sat there. he did stand by for a bit and felt happy when seokjin took it. jungkook smiled widely as he quickly ran towards his class.
he knew what he had to do now!
and so began his new routine. jungkook would often fold paper hearts of different colours and place them by seokjin’s desk window. he would watch from afar and feel himself fall even more as seokjin picked each one and smiled his pretty smile. jungkook would blush and feel happy to indirectly have made seokjin smile.
today, the choir practice was called early. jungkook, as usual, tagged along with namjoon as namjoon was the main pianist. he would just sit in a corner and help in minimal tasks, not really wanting to go to class. it was his luck that everyone in the choir group adored jungkook so no one reprimanded him.
as usual, he sat by the corner, zoning out and thinking of the green heart he had placed by the window for seokjin today. he usually did it during lunch but he knew he couldn't come by during lunch so he had kept it there earlier today. how unfortunate, he didn't get to see seokjin smile enough today all thanks to namjoon rushing him.
he was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't notice the footsteps that stopped near him until he felt something drop on his shoulder. flinching and thinking maybe a bug entered the room, he grabbed blindly at whatever it was. he brought his hand down only to find a slightly crumpled green origami heart in his palm.
“ah!”
jungkook looked up and blushed slightly as he saw seokjin standing there next to him. his eyes wide with shock as he stared at the green heart in jungkook's palms.
“ah, that-” seokjin began, his ears tinging pink, “t-that’s mine. could you return it, please?” he asked shyly, ever so polite. jungkook stared at seokjin. the sudden attention seemed to make seokjin sigh as he turned his head away and scratched his neck. jungkook felt himself smile.
“do you like origami hearts?” jungkook asked. seokjin looked at jungkook with cherry red cheeks. he nodded jerkily and thrust his palm forward, wanting his precious heart back. jungkook giggled and handed seokjin the heart back. seokjin cleared his throat as he quickly took out his handkerchief and put the heart in between the folds. jungkook blushed looking at seokjin treasuring it.
“w-why do you cherish it so much? i-it’s just paper anyways-”
“no, it's not!” jin burst out, cutting jungkook off. he blushed, covering his mouth with his hands as he glanced around him. no one seemed to have noticed seokjin's outburst, too busy practicing or talking amongst themselves, but jungkook could see just how embarrassed seokjin felt. suddenly, jungkook felt himself get pulled. he looked down at seokjin's hand holding his own as he pulled him along, outside of the choir practice room. seokjin pulled them into a quiet corner of the corridor and cleared his throat again.
“i'm sorry. f-for suddenly raising my voice like that, in the room.” seokjin mumbled and apologized. jungkook felt himself get nervous. this was the first time he was alone with seokjin. he didn't know how to handle this situation.
“um, it-it’s okay, seokjin-ssi.” jungkook mumbled. he looked down at his feet.
“hyung. you can call me hyung.” seokjin said while smiling warmly. jungkook felt his heart pound. seokjin really was so warm and kind. it felt as if time had stopped for him and only seokjin existed for him in the whole school.
“jungkook-ah!”
crash.
there went his daydream. he pouted as he turned back to face namjoon, his anger evident on his adorable face. seokjin chuckled lightly as he moved forward and patted jungkook's arm.
“see you again, jungkook-ssi.” and with that seokjin was gone. jungkook felt himself blush again. he slid down against the wall and sat in the form of a ball on the floor.
“you okay, kookie?” came namjoon’s voice but jungkook was too busy freaking out over the possibility of seokjin knowing his name. he screamed mentally and blushed wildly. he couldn't be any happier than this.
when jungkook did make his way back into the practice room, he immediately met seokjin's eyes. seokjin waved at him sweetly before returning his attention back to the girl next to him. jungkook felt himself blush again.
fuck.
this was so bad.
namjoon glanced curiously between jungkook and seokjin. he couldn't help but wonder if there had been some development between them. he smiled slyly, moving closer to jungkook.
“did you two kiss, kookie~?” namjoon said in jungkook's ears, his voice taking a teasing turn. jungkook flinched back while holding his red ear.
“n-no!” jungkook exclaimed. namjoon chuckled lightly. jungkook really could be so adorable.
“okay okay. come on, now. yoongi hyung was searching for you.” namjoon said as he put his hands up in surrender.
“yoongi hyung?” jungkook asked as he titled his head curiously. why was the choir instructor asking for him? nonetheless, jungkook followed namjoon, not before taking one last look at seokjin, into the choir office.
inside, yoongi sat on the chair, scratching his head with the pen in his hand. at the sound of the door opening, he looked up and smiled upon noticing jungkook behind namjoon.
“namjoonie! i see you brought along little jungkookie with you.” yoongi exclaimed happily. jungkook blushed and hid behind namjoon. yoongi treated him so adoringly that it made jungkook get really shy sometimes. he felt namjoon’s shoulders shake with laughter.
“well, you did tell me to bring him here. so, what's the problem?” namjoon asked as he led jungkook to sit on one of the plush chairs present in the office.
“well, remember when you showed me some of the poetry you and jungkook had written for your literature class?” yoongi began.
“yes I do. i remember you were really impressed with the words kookie had written.” namjoon recalled. beside him jungkook shrunk into himself at the sudden praise.
“i thought maybe jungkookie could try a hand at writing some lyrics? the choir needs a new song next month and since you're already playing the piano, maybe some new lyrics from a fresh mind would work, you know?” yoongi said brightly. namjoon's face lit up in interest. he thought about it for a bit.
“hyung, this could be really good but jungkookie, would you want to do this?” namjoon said as he turned towards jungkook who was now chewing on a cookie. jungkook swallowed and thought for a bit. he did always want to write songs so maybe… maybe he could take this chance and use it to understand his writing skills better.
“yes hyung. i-i want to try.” jungkook said with determination shining in his eyes.
“well, it's decided then!” yoongi said happily. they cheered happily. jungkook couldn't wait for what the next day would hold for him.
however, jungkook's excitement faded soon as the next day, jungkook came to school barely awake. his state frightened namjoon enough to almost rush him to the infirmary until he reassured him that he really was fine. it was just that jungkook had stayed awake the whole night trying to brainstorm ideas for the song he was supposed to write. namjoon had then taken jungkook along with him towards yoongi's office. jungkook doubted yoongi would be there this early but he was surprised to see yoongi present. he was wearing all black and had his thick framed glasses on. if jungkook wasn't crushing so hard on seokjin, he would've definitely crushed on yoongi.
“jungkookie, good morning!” yoongi said, smiling widely and looking at jungkook. jungkook smiled back, his face tinting a pretty pink. he sat on the plush chair as yoongi made his way over to him.
“damn jungkookie. you look like a zombie.” yoongi said as he cupped jungkook's face. he turned him side to side to inspect him more and winced at the eyebags.
“jungkookie, if this was due to the song i asked you to write, please know that hyung didn't mean to pressure you. you can take it into your own pace and if it's too much you can even stop it. hyung won't be mad. okay?” yoongi said as he pet jungkook's hair. jungkook felt his burden lighten a bit. he really did need the reassurance. maybe he really should take it on his own pace and not mess himself and the song up by rushing meaninglessly.
“yeah jungkookie. you can tell us if you cannot write okay? we won't be mad.” namjoon said next to him. it made jungkook smile, his eyes tearing up a bit. his hyungs were the best.
“no hyungs, it's okay. i guess i was a bit too excited and this ended up happening but don't worry i'll write amazing lyrics!” jungkook said happily. his cheery disposition made yoongi and namjoon smile as well until the bell rang signaling the classes to begin soon. the three quickly packed up and got out of the office. as they went to their separate classes, jungkook smiled once again as he got new energy to start his song with.
before lunch time, jungkook found himself back in yoongi's office. he had written a bit and so far he liked the lyrics. yoongi had even approved of them. when the bell rang for lunch, yoongi got up from his chair and made his way over to jungkook. jungkook was busy fidgeting with his sticky notes and his lyrics sheet was by the side.
“can I read it jungkookie?” yoongi asked. jungkook nodded distractedly, going back to folding the paper in his hands. yoongi picked up the paper and started reading.

they were just a few lines but yoongi immediately felt impressed. jungkook was really such a cool kid. he reached out to pet jungkook's hair.
“these lyrics are great, jungkookie. hyung is going down to buy some bread, would you liked something? hyung's treat.” yoongi said while smiling. jungkook smiled widely at yoongi as he nodded quickly.
“can hyung get me some banana milk please?” jungkook asked politely. yoongi pet his hair again and nodded. just before he passed by jungkook, he felt his shirt sleeve being tugged. he looked down to see jungkook holding onto his sleeve.
“here! this is for you, hyung!” jungkook said as he presented yoongi a pretty origami heart. it was pale yellow in colour and had slight flower designs on it. yoongi blushed a bit as he took the heart. no one had really ever given him something.
“this is so cute, jungkookie. just like you.” yoongi said as he looked at the origami heart in his hand while ruffling jungkook's hair. “thank you.”
jungkook smiled at yoongi and waved at him as yoongi left to go get them something to eat. jungkook waited for a bit, adding the final touches to his origami heart before getting up. he put the lilac origami heart he had folded in his pocket and made his way towards seokjin's class. upon reaching, he quickly looked inside to made sure seokjin wasn't around and placed the heart on the window sill. the class and corridor were pretty empty this time around so no one ever saw jungkook. after he ensured that the heart wouldn't fly or fall down, jungkook made his way back to the office. he couldn't really stay to watch seokjin smile at the heart since yoongi would not be happy upon finding him missing.
soon, seokjin came back from the washroom only to find a pretty heart right on his table. strange. it was usually on the window sill but today it was on his table? maybe the window caused it to fly down? still, he smiled and took the heart. it was lilac today and had pretty flower designs on it. seokjin smiled again. he pocketed the heart and made his way downstairs to get his lunch.
he usually waited for some time to go to the cafeteria since before that there was a huge crowd and seokjin really wasn't a fan of crowds. luckily he found the lunch lady in the cafeteria only attending a few students so he quickly went there and got his lunch. he was about to go back to class when he spotted yoongi. he was impossible to miss with his black clothes and black hair.
“yoongi-chi!” seokjin called out as he ran towards yoongi. yoongi turned behind and smiled upon spotting seokjin. he waved at him and stopped walking, waiting for seokjin to catch up to him.
“hah, pretty day isn't it?” seokjin said as the two started walking together. yoongi hummed as he took in the surroundings as well. the cherry blossoms had started to blossom and the school looked pretty with the pink petals all around. as the two walked in silence, seokjin couldn't help but notice the plastic bag in yoongi's hand. it looked like food for two people and he felt happy thinking of how yoongi spending some time with someone other than just being by himself. suddenly, his eyes caught something.
a pale yellow origami heart.
in yoongi's hand.
yoongi seemed to be looking at it then at the blossoming cherry blossoms momentarily and smiling softly. seokjin looked closer. it was definitely just like the one he had received. the flower pattern and the similar folding marks.
“yoongi-chi, pretty heart you've got there.” seokjin said, trying to get to know about it. he saw yoongi smile softly again before glancing at the heart in his hand.
“jungkookie made it for me. this is the first time someone has ever given me something. he's such a sweet kid.” yoongi said as he gave seokjin a gummy smile. seokjin felt dumbstruck.
jungkook? jungkook had made that? did that mean that jungkook was the one behind the hearts he had been receiving as well?
“ah, would you like to stop by the office? i'm going to have lunch there with jungkook.” yoongi asked as they stopped in front of the building. seokjin smiled hesitantly as he shook his head as a no. they waved bye to each other as seokjin watched yoongi disappear into the choir room. seokjin pushed his hand into his pocket and felt the origami heart he had there. he bit his lips as he made his way up the stairs.
reaching the rooftop, seokjin sat by the shade in the secluded corner. he liked being here. alone and in his own company. there was a nice breeze and it was quiet enough for him to relax and have his lunch. but today, he felt like he couldn't rest at all. he stared at the lilac origami heart in his hand. it looked pretty innocent but seokjin couldn't help but speculate that jungkook was behind this.
“hah…” seokjin sighed as his head fell in between his knees, his hand holding the heart still. he knew he should be feeling weird or something else other than whatever he was feeling right now. he felt strangely flustered by the thought of jungkook being behind this.
“fuck.” seokjin mumbled with red ears and red cheeks, his hair blowing in the soft wind.
when seokjin entered the choir room, students had already begun to gather. since lunch was ending and they had choir practice immediately after, seokjin decided to just come here rather than going to class. he immediately spotted wendy but stopped upon seeing her talking to jungkook. both wendy and jungkook were people who stayed to themselves. wendy usually only talked to seokjin and jungkook would sit in the corner all alone or sometimes near namjoon. so to see the two of them together was well, shocking to say the least. still, seokjin made his way towards them. he subtly patted his pocket, the corner of the heart could be felt and suddenly it felt warm as he made eye contact with jungkook.
“ah, seokjin! come sit!” wendy exclaimed. she tugged on his cardigan sleeve excitedly and proceeded to explain how beautifully jungkook could sing, singing praises of him left and right.
“you should hear him, seokjin! it sounds like he's got the sweetest honey in his voice.” wendy said. seokjin turned to face jungkook who seemed to be shyly covering his ears which looked red. seokjin smiled.
“would you let hyung hear you as well, jungkook-ssi?” seokjin asked politely. he watched jungkook's cheeks turn red.
“s-sure hyung. but you need to stop being s-so formal with me.” jungkook said shyly. seokjin smiled softly and pet jungkook's hair. he heard wendy chuckle beside him and looked at her only to find her shaking her head at him. he felt confused. what was it? still, jungkook prepared himself as he took out a sheet of paper. it looked like lyrics and so seokjin prepared himself.
when my breath spreads silently
across countless seasons
and I fall
more every minute
more every hour
oh, like a dream
on the white window of my heart
darkly engraved
you and me, ah
seokjin felt his eyes widen as jungkook sang softly. wendy really wasn't lying. jungkook's voice was so beautiful and the lyrics of the song he had chosen, they were so soft and precious that it was enough to drive anyone to tears. seokjin found himself rubbing his nose as jungkook finished his singing. wendy clapped beside him and launched herself into another praising session which caused jungkook to once again shrink in on himself. it was such an adorable sight that seokjin couldn't help but move closer to jungkook.
“jungkook-ah, have you ever wanted to try out singing in the choir? your vocals would suit so well.” seokjin said to jungkook as he softly pet his hair again. he saw jungkook turn even redder and it made seokjin's heart beat a bit faster. was he starting to like jungkook?
“no hyung, i think… i think i want to focus on my studies for now. maybe, i'll try singing someday.” jungkook answered sweetly. seokjin smiled at him and continued to pet his hair.
“then jungkook-ah, i will be waiting. and, what was that song you used? the lyrics are beautiful.” seokjin asked. jungkook’s eyes widened as he looked at seokjin.
“y-you liked the lyrics?” jungkook asked hopefully. seokjin nodded quickly.
“oh um, i didn't expect you to. it's um, it's the song yoongi hyung asked me to write for the choir.” jungkook answered bashfully. seokjin paused.
“you wrote the lyrics?!” seokjin exclaimed. he immediately clamped his mouth shut, looking around him to make sure no one paid attention to his excitement. he moved closer and asked jungkook once again and gasped when jungkook confirmed that he indeed wrote the lyrics.
“wow jungkook, you're a lyrical genius!” wendy exclaimed from the side. seokjin nodded hurriedly to agree with her.
“the lyrics are so beautiful jungkook-ah and i love the melody so, so much!” seokjin added. jungkook smiled as he felt a bit of burden lift from his shoulders. well, atleast they liked the lyrics and melody which meant he could continue with the song more.
seokjin opened his mouth to speak more but the arrival of their teacher made him stop. he got up and dusted his pants, waving at jungkook before making his way over to the group leaving Jungkook with dusty red cheeks and a pounding heart. jungkook fisted his hand as he got new motivation to continue his song with.
for the next week, jungkook couldn't really go see seokjin as much as he wanted to but he was regular in keeping the hearts by the window sill. he never missed a day and immediately returned to yoongi's office to write lyrics after placing the hearts. and so, about four days later, his song was complete. he presented it to namjoon and yoongi and sang it so as to let them know the melody. he received endless praise, of course, and namjoon immediately tugged him along to practice it on his piano. jungkook felt himself get lighter as he got a positive response.
today, yoongi was going to play the song to all the choir students. they had recorded a demo with namjoon’s piano in it and were going to present just that. jungkook sat far at the very back in a corner, curling onto himself. yoongi, namjoon, seokjin, and wendy's praises had been one thing but for the whole choir group to listen to his voice? it made him really nervous.
he heard the door open and close but didn't pay attention to it until a warm body pressed next to him. he startled and turned to look at who it was and was met seokjin smiling softly at him along with wendy who excitedly waved at him. it made jungkook feel better having the two of them beside him. he saw yoongi press play and soon the beginning notes of the song played. the soft melody of the piano along with his vocals were soon heard and he heard the students gasp in awe.
“see? everyone likes your vocals jungkook-ah.” seokjin whispered into jungkook’s ears and oh, jungkook felt like his heart was going to burst. seokjin was so close! as the song continued, jungkook glanced sideways. he could see wendy enjoying herself with the song. he then looked at seokjin and stopped himself from almost flinching. seokjin had taken out the cherry blossom pink origami heart jungkook had placed on seokjin’s window sill today. he turned forward quickly, his cheeks red as he stared at the wall.
meanwhile, seokjin was deep in thought. it had been weeks since he had started receiving these hearts and he still hadn’t figured out who was behind this. he had the suspicion that it was jungkook but just because he saw yoongi having a similar origami heart made by jungkook, it didn’t mean that the hearts he had gotten were from jungkook too. but somehow, he wanted to really believe it was jungkook. his heart beat faster. for the past week, he kept considering about what he would do if jungkook really did turn out to be the one behind this. he thought a lot but he never once felt startled by the idea. he quite… liked it. maybe he had come to really like jungkook too. but yet, he didn’t know for sure.
“so that you can see my heart, so, I’ll leave you a heart on the window”
the sweet voice of jungkook singing filled his ears. his eyes widened as he turned to look at jungkook next to him. he was sitting with his knees to his chest, his eyes closing and his face serene and soft as he sang the lyrics. and then seokjin realised and it all clicked together.
oh.
it really was jungkook.
seokjin was sure of it. the lyrics spoke of it all. he couldn't believe he didn't notice since the beginning of the song. he smiled and focused on the heart in his hand once again.
“thinking about your admirer again, seokjin?” wendy asked teasingly from beside him. jungkook perked up hearing the question. he sneakily glanced towards seokjin only to find him make brief eye contact with jungkook before turning to face wendy.
“i think i’ve found who my admirer is, wendy.” seokjin answered as he smiled. wendy gasped as she squealed quietly.
“well then, you better talk to them quick then. they really have been persevering for long enough.” wendy said before looking at jungkook pointedly and waving bye at him. she left them to join the group of students now crowding around yoongi, now that the song had stopped playing. suddenly, the gap between the students and seokjin and jungkook felt too much. jungkook didn’t know how to react when he suddenly felt a warm hand engulf his.
“wanna escape, jungkook?” seokjin asked quietly and jungkook found himself nodding easily and so, the two slipped out of the choir room quietly. the two ran up the stairs and ended up on the terrace. as always, the terrace was quiet and peaceful. the warm sun rays felt so nice along with the slight breeze that jungkook took a moment to savor it before whatever was about to happen. he was smart enough to know that seokjin must’ve figured out his identity by now and he knew that he was about to be rejected.
“jungkook-ah.”
ah, so the time had really come. jungkook gripped the railing tightly to stop himself from tearing up. he knew for sure that he was going to be rejected since after all, he had never once seen seokjin entertain the idea of a relationship before, turning down anyone who approached him so why would jungkook be any different? he heard footsteps and he tried to put on a brave face before he turned around to come face to face with seokjin. the two stared at each other before seokjin took jungkook’s hand. jungkook looked confusedly at seokjin until he felt something being placed into his hand.
a cherry blossom pink origami heart.
oh.
so this was rejection then considering how seokjin was returning the heart to him. he closed his palm and held the heart close his chest.
“you should reject me quickly, seokjin hyung. please.” jungkook said shakily. his eyes were already gathering tears and seokjin made a wounded sound as he saw meek jungkook sounded and how small he looked, shrinking into himself, this time not from embarrassment or shyness. jungkook looked down at his shoes before opening his palm and looking at the heart. the first tear dropped from his eyes right onto the heart but before anymore tears could escape his eyes, he felt himself get engulfed in a warm hug. his eyes widened as more tears leaked from his eyes.
“who said i would reject you, jungkookie?” seokjin asked as he tightened his hold on jungkook. jungkook gasped before he pushed against seokjin’s chest, putting a slight distance between them. seokjin’s arms stayed looped around his shoulders as the two stared at each other. the slight wind was blowing their hair and the sunlight shone upon them. seokjin suddenly leaned forward and kissed jungkook chastely on the lips. jungkook gasped, his cheeks turning redder.
“w-what?”
“i like you, jungkookie. will you go on a date with me?” seokjin asked jungkook, staring into jungkook’s eyes with such tenderness that it made jungkook tear up again.
“yes! yes, hyung! i like you too! i like you so much!” jungkook exclaimed as he hugged seokjin back tightly, placing a sweet kiss onto seokjin's cheek, the origami heart in his palm feeling extra warm.
after some time, the two sat on the lone bench on the terrace as jungkook rested his head on seokjin’s shoulder.
“the song…” seokjin began. jungkook glanced up at seokjin, his cheeks still pink.
“i-i wrote it thinking of you…” jungkook admitted while blushing. seokjin pet jungkook’s hair.
“i figured it out completely after i heard you sing along to the song.” seokjin answered while smiling at jungkook.
“completely?” jungkook questioned.
“ah, well, i had a suspicion it was you after i met yoongi one day. i met him by the cafeteria one day and he had a yellow heart in his hand and i couldn’t help but notice the similar design and everything and he said you made it for him so, i mean, i kind of suspected it to be you from then on.” seokjin said as he scratched his ear nervously. jungkook giggled as he saw seokjin get nervous.
“hyung is so cute.” jungkook said while giggling. seokjin gasped at that but jungkook knew he was just acting since he could see seokjin’s ears flaming red. the two spent some more time together until a text from yoongi made them both realise just how much time had passed by. as they stood up and stood by the terrace door, ready to head down, seokjin kissed jungkook once more before he held onto jungkook’s hand and they went down the stairs together. jungkook couldn’t help but feel shy as he kept glancing at their hands clasped together. upon reaching, as they were about to open the choir room door, yoongi suddenly opened it instead.
“hyung! jungkookie! where did you both disappear for so long? don’t you know practice- oh.” yoongi’s rambling came to a halt as he looked at their intertwined hands. jungkook saw namjoon come up behind yoongi and curiously glance at seokjin and jungkook before looking at their hands and gasping.
“oh finally!” namjoon exclaimed. yoongi startled out of his dazed state as he looked at namjoon incredulously.
“what do you know that i do not know of, kim namjoon?” yoongi asked lowly and starting to chase behind namjoon who started running away. seokjin and jungkook giggled as they saw the two chase each other like a cat and dog. jungkook felt their hands being lifted up and turned to look at seokjin who brought their clasped hands towards his lips and placed a kiss onto jungkook’s knuckles.
“i really like you.” seokjin confessed again. jungkook smiled shyly, his cheeks becoming red once again.
“me too, hyung.”
