Lee had woken up, just to find himself alone at home, like the days before. Days, weeks, months… The spot beside him in bed was still empty, and it always would be despite the deep grief in his heart.
Nothing would change. His world had turned to gray after the war, and no matter how hard his friends tried to cheer him up, his heart had been devoid of feelings once his partner had died in his arms. There just… was no point in doing anything at all, and so he just remained in his apartment on his own– too big just for him, missing a second person who would never go back.
His eyelids were too heavy to blink, and sometimes he simply slept to make time pass– Lee didn’t even know why. Maybe it was instinct or something, though he didn’t have enough energy to do anything apart from laying down, covered in old clothes that weren’t even his own; the only way to have his omega’s scent close was to gather his things and keep them nearby, albeit his aroma was fading with every passing day.
It was some kind of nest, even if alphas weren’t supposed to do that. But well, he wasn’t supposed to have lost his boyfriend so suddenly… At first he had felt dumb, and now that was the only way that Lee had to get some dreamless sleep, instead of nightmares.
Neji was gone. And no matter how many tears fell from his eyes, or how hard he tried to ignore the people who tried to make sure he was alright, he would never return. The love of his life, his other half, he had died to protect his cousin and ended up bleeding on his chest.
The memory would never leave his mind– haunting his brain, his soul for the rest of his life.
