Chapter Text
With a heavy feeling weighing down his body, Megumi struggles to stay awake during his daily class at Jujutsu High. Gojo had started to notice his tired demeanor, observing his dark bags under his eyes and his slumped form as he tried to concentrate on the lesson. He has no idea what is eating at his cute son's mind, but at the risk of getting snapped at, he would get to the bottom of it. As the day progresses, Gojo cannot help but confront Megumi privately.
"Megumi-kun, I've noticed lately that you've been struggling with sleep. Is everything okay?"
Megumi, caught off guard by Gojo's concern, hesitates before responding. "I'm fine Gojo-sensei, just having trouble sleeping lately," he replies, avoiding eye contact.
Yikes. So bad he didn't try to bite my head off.
Gojo, perceptive as always, senses that there's more to it but decides to give him some space. "If you ever need to talk or need help, you know I'm here for you," Gojo says, his voice filled with genuine care.
Megumi nods silently, grateful for Gojo's understanding. As the day continues, however, it becomes increasingly clear to Gojo that there is a deeper issue affecting Megumi.
What am I not seeing?

Over the next few days, Gojo closely observes Megumi during classes and missions. He notices that Megumi's focus is off, he's slower in his movements and seems distant. During a particularly challenging mission, Megumi makes a crucial mistake that puts the team in jeopardy. Gojo becomes even more concerned as he realizes that the lack of sleep is negatively affecting Megumi's performance, not just in his studies but in his ability to fight. After they return from the mission, Gojo decides to talk to Megumi again, this time with a more serious tone.
Gojo approaches Megumi in a secluded area of Jujutsu High, his usual playful demeanor replaced with a serious expression.
"Megumi-kun, we need to talk. Your lack of sleep is becoming a real problem. It's affecting your judgment and your ability to control your cursed energy. Why aren't you sleeping? What's keeping you up at night?"
Megumi, feeling vulnerable and exposed, clenches his fists and looks away. He struggles to find the words to express his inner turmoil.
"It's... it's just my thoughts, sensei. They're consuming me. I can't seem to shut them off at night. I don't even feel tired. It's like my brain is constantly racing with worries and doubts."
Gojo nods thoughtfully, recognizing the signs of anxiety and restlessness in Megumi. His expression softens as he considers how to offer support.
"You know, Megumi-kun, it's okay to have thoughts and worries. But when they start interfering with your sleep and your well-being, it becomes a problem. Have you tried talking about it with someone? Or maybe meditating to clear your mind?"
Megumi shakes his head, his shoulders slumping in defeat. "I don't know who to talk to. And meditation... I've tried, but it's hard to quiet my mind when it's racing with so many things."
Gojo pauses, contemplating a different approach.
"What if we try something different? Instead of just trying to shut off your thoughts, what if we address what's causing them? Can you pinpoint any specific thoughts or situations that are making it hard for you to sleep?"
Megumi takes a deep breath, thinking for a moment. "It's just... everything. I worry about Tsumiki, the mission, my classmates. It's like I have this weight on my chest that just won't go away." Gojo nods, listening intently.
To be honest, he was shocked he even got this far.
"And that's perfectly normal, Megumi-kun. But here's the thing. Carrying that weight all the time, without giving yourself a break, that's not sustainable. It'll wear you down. You need to find a way to manage that weight better," Gojo explains patiently.
Megumi looks down, acknowledging the truth in Gojo’s words. "I know... I just don't know how," he says quietly.
"Well, let's start small. Is there anything you can do each night before bed to help ease your mind? Maybe some light reading, listening to music, or even writing down your thoughts to get them off your chest?" Gojo suggests, trying to offer some practical ideas. He thought a lot about that when Suguru...
Before getting an answer, Gojo sits down beside Megumi, looking him directly in the eyes.
"You need to give yourself permission to rest, Megumi. Your body and mind need it. But I understand it's not easy for you. So we'll work on it together, okay? We'll find a way to reduce that weight and ease your mind. But you have to trust me and be honest with me about what you're going through. Can you do that?"
Megumi looks up at Gojo, his eyes filled with a mix of vulnerability and determination.
"I'll try, sensei. I just... I just don't want to be a liability to the team. I don't want my problems affecting my missions and the people around me." Gojo smiles gently.
"You're not a liability, Megumi. We all have our struggles. What's important is that we face them and find ways to work through them. And you're not alone in this. We're all here to support you."
Please, don't be another Suguru.
Gojo patted Megumi on the back, knowing that this conversation was just the beginning. He could sense that Megumi's issues were deep-rooted and not something that could be resolved overnight.
"It'll take time, Megumi-kun. But we'll get there. In the meantime, try to focus on one thing at a time. And remember, it's okay to not be okay. You don't have to have everything figured out right away," Gojo reassured him, hoping to alleviate some of the weight Megumi was carrying.
"Now, you should go get some rest. And I don't mean just closing your eyes and lying in bed. I mean actual, restful sleep. Understood?" Gojo said sternly, but there was a hint of kindness in his eyes.
"Yes, Sensei," Megumi replied, nodding weakly. He got up to leave, but Gojo called out to him one last time.
"And Megumi?"
Megumi turned around, looking at Gojo expectantly.
"Remember, my door is always open. If you need anything, at any time, don't hesitate to come talk to me," Gojo said, his voice firm but filled with concern.
"Thank you, sensei," Megumi responded, a small smile faintly appearing on his weary face. "I'll keep that in mind."
